I feel for the kids involved, I really do. It’s must feel awful. But it’s been caused by parents mainly with the very best of intentions following the terrible, terrible advice of doctors and charities to socially transition young children.
I hope the kids sue mermaids for the emotional damage done.

They’ve included one dissenting voice, and that was taken from an article in the Telegraph. Clearly they couldn’t be bothered to find a parent who disagreed to interview.

I could finally sign my daughters up to Guiding after Supreme Court ruling as knew it would be a matter of time before no boys. But no residential trips until the boys have left. Imagine having an older Brownie, Guide or Ranger who came back assaulted or pregnant because they shared a sleeping place with a boy who had a gender identity.
Theyve been forced back to their routes as a girl only organisation. But as a parent their emails still have me concerned they don’t understand safeguarding. So I’m not sure if we’ll do residential trips from September.

Why aren’t stories like this in the papers?

I agree. I think it’s abusive really. Her only son cannot be a girl anymore than he can be a dog or cat. It’s biologically impossible. His mental health should’ve been supported, and told it’s OK to like pink, dolls or whatever sexist stuff led Angela to push or encourage this idea. Liking these doesn’t make you any less of a boy.

I was talking to an online friend of many years about this recently, I expressed how pleased I am by the GG decision, she said she was glad her 19yr old had educated her, and she was glad that they are so much more progressive these days.
I think I got through to her to at least question some of it, but honestly, how on earth do you think lying to, and medicating children for life is progressive 🤔

the thing is what happens when puberty progresses it is not far away, how the hell do they maintain this delusion, that he is a she, how will the pubescent females start thinking about this as sexuality and sex attractions start arriving in their young heads. I cannot imagine that any normal developing teenager will not suddenly notice sex differences if they had not done so before. (I know my children did).

That's where all the, "well some women have a penis", comes in, and if you're in an inclusive group who has made it quite obvious via social media, you aren't going to dare say anything for fear of being ostracised.

The Graun stopped comments on most articles a while back, certainly on anything contentious that might require moderating!

My friend is a brownie leader. She told me it’s because transgender children that age have not had surgery so would need to use gender appropriate toilets and be accompanied by a leader. The can’t attend camp as again they have male body parts so would hard to change separately. She thinks most of this for young kids under puberty age comes from some parents wanting the ‘quirky kid’ from what she has witnessed. She said they are not against any child but they have to protect the female only ethos and have decided this is the rule they will follow.

All of those things might be additional factors (which GGUK clearly didn't consider) but the main reason transgirls are not allowed in Girl Guides is because they are male and GGUK is a charity that uses the protected characteristics of sex so that it is girls only. They cannot allow any boys to remain in the organisation without being subject to legal action. Either from a boy who knows he is a boy but would rather be in Guides or from a girl who can no longer access the group because she needs single sex provision and Guides were no longer offering it

I really don’t know how kids saying this can be taken seriously. I used to say I wanted to be a tiger!

Why do they do this? Parents like this are not helping their kids. I really think it's better to tell kids the truth. If you lie and say 'yes of course you're a girl' what else are you lying about? This is so dangerous. It's a safeguarding issue.

Yes, exactly. They are simply following last year’s ruling by the Supreme Court, which determined that “sex” in the Equality Act referred to biological sex.

If you take an analogous case, that of the Women’s Institute, men are not allowed to join, regardless of whether they have had surgery or not. Even men who have removed their genitalia are still, biologically, men.

I think with boundaries being slowly put back in place for children will make it very difficult for parents who have gone along with this, to continue, or start to engage with it.

I wonder how many people think trans "girl" actually means a girl (female child) questioning her identity.

Typical of these type of parents, blame everyone else instead of looking at their own shit parenting and inability to utter the word “no” to their kids.

I am no expert but i think there a lot of different issues playing out with parents who trans their children, notably in celebrities. I think it is as attention seeking as munchausen by proxy. Or it may well be the same thing.
