Steph Richards (TIM) again appointed to a position at endometriosis charity

The headline dishonestly implies that the issue with this appointment is because Richards is trans-identified, rather than because he is male. I wouldn't have any issue with a trans-identified woman affected by endometriosis being appointed. You'd think they would have learnt their lesson from last time when he was appointed CEO. If Richards and the charity gave a damn about women they would have taken on board the level of offence generated then.

Appointment of trans person as endometriosis representative ridiculed

The novelist Amanda Craig has criticised the appointment of Steph Richards, saying ‘it’s as ridiculous as white people speaking for black people’

What the heck has happened to society. I have avoided conspiracy theorists talking about the long march through the institutions and queer theory etc but I am starting to see the trans thing has been chucked at us under the guise of DEI - which is an utter misnomer-and the heavily weaponised ‘be kind’ mantra.

When is someone in charge going to say something other than we have to affirm these lies.

And yes wholly inappropriate outfit for a professional head shot. But of course we have to #BeKind. I’ll be honest I am fed up of affirming people with mental illnesses who have been lied to by so many people about all this gender nonsense. As for the HCPs involved especially with young women pretending they feel male or the even more nonsense non binary, where is your moral compass. You are lying to vulnerable people.

The go woke go broke phrase has never resonated with me more.

I hope women stand up to this appointment. It is an insult to all woman.

I do not expect the CEO to have endometriosis but a womb would be a start.

ItsCoolForCats · 23/03/2026 07:06

Is Steph Richards the one who said there are trans toddlers? And parents can tell if a girl is trans if she likes rough and tumble play? 🙄

BlueLegume · 23/03/2026 07:13

There is a lot on the website above about the gender critical movement. That phrase is wrong. We are a sex realist group, there is no criticism of anything other than the fact that gender identity is nonsense and sex is real. Anything else is delusional nonsense brought in under the guise of DEI and the Be Kind movement.

What about being kind and listening to some reality?

God I am tired of all this verbal gymnastics to accommodate men and woman with some idea their identity is somehow more valuable as an idea than sex realism.

Of course a man can do endometriosising better than a woman can! Come on wims, now a man is in charge that pesky 9 year average wait for a diagnosis will disappear to nothing 😐

Endometriosis South Coast insisted that it was “scientifically inaccurate” to suggest endometriosis was a condition that only affected women.
A spokesperson for the charity said: “It affects people of all genders, including trans men, non-binary, and intersex individuals.”

but not men.

But they are all biologically women. Calling yourself a silly name does not change biological fact. I want to go outside and scream every time I hear this nonsense. 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱

Thought the page layout in The Times told you everything you need to know about the world as it is today. ‘White male appointed as government endometriosis lead’. ‘White male appointed as BBC director general’. Are we really in 2025, not 1825?

What?! A former Google executive has been appointed BBC head? JHC. What the hell were they thinking? Absolutely completely the wrong person. Oh I just despair.

Many on here will know this, but for the lurkers: Steph Richards' previous includes leading noisy protests outside the Filia conference in Portsmouth, for having the temerity to only admit women.

Delegates had to walk through aggressive men holding 'suck my dick' signs. Survivors of war rape had to speak up over the noise of their shouting.

Steph's response was that it was the fault of women, because if he and his fellow protesters had not been excluded they'd have been inside the venue.

Jo Bartosch's rather good summary here: www.spiked-online.com/2023/11/16/why-is-a-militant-trans-activist-running-a-womens-health-charity/

Thanks for the link, even though it's old I wonder if this is still the case "..he is also a women’s officer for his local Portsmouth Labour Party" because the article said it was a parliamentary appointment, more jobs for the boys from the Labour Party then. 🤮

loislovesstewie · 23/03/2026 08:07

Says it all, really, doesn't it? Men who think that saying 'suck my dick' is acceptable aren't wanted at any conference.

NebulousSadTimes · 23/03/2026 08:17

This couldn't be going better for him. He gets to larp, he gets attention from enablers and handmaidens, he gets his smug face onto Twitter and elsewhere where the reactions give him his chance to claim victimhood. It's all rather pathetic really.

Shortshriftandlethal · 23/03/2026 08:27

Seriously, what a creep!

I couldn't agree more @BlueLegume . I was wondering yesterday if there are figures for how many young women have gone down the surgical route compared to their male counterparts. It perhaps seems more important to them, they'll consider it harder to hide their femaleness with their breasts. That will have been indoctrinated into them as much as the rest.

HermioneWeasley · 23/03/2026 08:39

Who is funding this joke of an organisation?

Imdunfer · 23/03/2026 08:50

“It’s as ridiculous as someone purporting to speak for black people when they’re white."

And I think we can all imagine what outrage that would cause.

but not men.

Absolutely classic example of how the alphabet people have used language and made up words to befuddle and confuse the issue.

Endometriosis is a condition which affects WOMEN, so it is a condition that is dependant on your SEX not your chosen gender.

If Steph wanted to support knowledge and understanding about a medical condition that only occurs in one sex then he could have put his energies into supporting organisations dealing with prostate cancer and everyone would have applauded him for recognising that as a male bodied human, even one who was a TIM, he understood the importance of promoting awareness of the disease to all men.

But no, he has decided to poke his manly nose into women’s business, again.

Which begs the question why.

Answers on the back of a stamp please.

It's A Great Puzzle.

Steph and founder Jodie Hughes were robustly interviewed by Emma Barnett, herself an endo sufferer, on WH in 2023.

Apparently an as yet unnamed Labour MP was involved in his appointment and has sponsored a room in parliament where he will be speaking

It's quite common for medical charities to appoint across sex/gender: https://prostatecanceruk.org/about-us/who-we-are/our-people/laura-kerby

It is common enough to have mixed sex management, but this is a parliamentary advocacy role. This is literally a male person in a role speaking for female people about a condition that except in the rarest cases, affects female people.

Female people who have for decades and decades been dismissed by male people when they talk about it. If you cannot see the significance in how this appointment should be female only, then perhaps you lack the understanding of the medical condition and how we have been treated in the past.

Helleofabore · 23/03/2026 10:28

The difference now is that he has been now appointed in a parliamentary advisor role for the charity.

Helleofabore · 23/03/2026 10:33

I believe it is a two pronged issue.

Firstly, it shows that Richards’ is considered to be influential at parliament with his advocacy. This is a concern considering the women’s groups that are still being rejected to attend committees etc to have their voice heard. But a male activist… welcomed with numerous roles. What a difference !

Secondly, but not in order of priority of course, is the issue of a male person being appointed as a spokesperson for a female health condition, and he is not even a medical specialist.

Westfacing · 23/03/2026 10:43

There really is no end to all this is there...

And what's with Steph's photos - an off the shoulder number then pink dress with coquettish head tilt 😊
