Steph Richards (TIM) again appointed to a position at endometriosis charity

The headline dishonestly implies that the issue with this appointment is because Richards is trans-identified, rather than because he is male. I wouldn't have any issue with a trans-identified woman affected by endometriosis being appointed. You'd think they would have learnt their lesson from last time when he was appointed CEO. If Richards and the charity gave a damn about women they would have taken on board the level of offence generated then.

Appointment of trans person as endometriosis representative ridiculed

The novelist Amanda Craig has criticised the appointment of Steph Richards, saying ‘it’s as ridiculous as white people speaking for black people’

Oh FFS. It’s so offensive to have a man LARPing as us appointed to positions like this.

CallingOnTheMegaphone · 22/03/2026 22:11

I know this is the least of it, but I don't know any woman who would wear an off the shoulder top in a professional head shot. 🙈

Unbelievable that a charity for a disease affecting WOMEN would think this was ok

I agree

I wonder if there's a web site that's keeping track of all the positions, all over the world, that are going to fake women, when they should be going to real women. Like the UN's Women's Champion for the UK 🤬

Endometriosis South Coast insisted that it was “scientifically inaccurate” to suggest endometriosis was a condition that only affected women.
A spokesperson for the charity said: “It affects people of all genders, including trans men, non-binary, and intersex individuals.”

but not men.

Trans-identified women and women with DSDs are women, so there is nothing scientifically inaccurate in saying it only affects women. What a joke of an organisation. They care more about spouting TRA talking points than advocating for their clients i.e. women!

We all know though, that that talking point is not really about being inclusive regarding trans-identified women. It's about not hurting the fragile feelings of trans-identified men by admitting that biology and sex matters and they aren't included in the category of woman/female.

🤢😡

I have endo. Painful, debilitating, messy, agony. HE will never have endo being as HE does not have a uterus or endometrial tissue.

I don't actually mind a woman without endo in the role, but someone who actually is female should not be too much to ask. Oh no wait, it IS too much to ask, because menz

Absolutely, it's not asking much to just have a bloody woman when it comes to women's health issues, is it? Someone with endo would be ideal but I would be happy as long as it was a woman! My point really was just that despite accusations, the trans-identification isn't the issue, it's being a male LARPing as a female. Is there nothing they won't appropriate?

It's twisted cos play with patriarchy bells on. What does he do, track on a period app his AF days, and need a hot water bottle for 3 days?!

I started to read some random crap about them experiencing menopause and I had to scroll away super fast before I needed a pillow to scream into. Can we have nothing! A womb of one's own, is it too much to ask, apparently yes! He'll be wanting a smear next.

They've already misappropriated chest bloody feeding.

[Again, nothing against XX biological females being themselves/identifying in whatever way they need to move through the world]

And in his endo role of fakery he'll ofc be using the ladies loo and peeing on the seat

borntobequiet · 22/03/2026 22:42

Infuriating.

Rightsraptor · 22/03/2026 22:56

I think I remember from the last time he was appointed to this role that we discovered that men can indeed get endometriosis; there's been something like 15 cases reported worldwide. And millions of women. Yet - again a man in the role.

I wasn't aware of that. But I still think it's fair to say its a disease that affects women because that is so vanishingly rare.

Thought the page layout in The Times told you everything you need to know about the world as it is today. ‘White male appointed as government endometriosis lead’. ‘White male appointed as BBC director general’. Are we really in 2025, not 1825?

Yikes, we’re in 2026, aren’t we?! Even worse…

valentinka31 · 23/03/2026 05:32

It’s heart-breaking. People are saying ‘didn’t they realise this would upset the very women they exist to help?’ - yes, of course they did. I think they should be closed down over this. It’s not just an outrage: it’s a very personal attack on all women.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 23/03/2026 06:33

Haven't followed any of the links. Is this really a re-run of the debacle of a few years ago? We learned then that this is little more than a one woman charity, so Steph's claim to be CEO was puzzling. There was no money to change hands so it had to be all about validation for Steph, who as I recall has no obvious experience or qualifications to merit a post with that title.

I was wondering that. Have they really gone and reappointed him again after the shenanigans from last time or is this a rehash of an old story?
