King’s Trust cancels girls’ boxing course to avoid banning boys

how depressing…

I saw this but it’s paywalled
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-15633515/King-Charles-charity-cancelled-course-disadvantaged-girls-banning-biological-males.html

so googled and found this:
https://www.britbrief.co.uk/politics/liberties/kings-trust-cancels-girls-boxing-course-over-male-inclusion.html

King's charity cancelled course for girls instead of banning males

The King's Trust was due to run a 'Get started with Boxing and Fitness for Women' course for girls aged 16 to 25 that was open to 'female identifying/presenting' people.

Well of course. Better girls at excluded than certain entitled males (and I absolutely mean NAMALT!) have to face a no!

LewisFerrux · 19/03/2026 07:06

Helen Joyce's quote says it all.
it 'shouldn't have taken a Supreme Court judgment' to tell the King's Trust that it should not allow biological males 'to punch women for sport'

Well done that parent for writing in.

What TF is the matter with them?

BezMills · 19/03/2026 07:07

This would infuriate me. There's such a drop off in sports participation for young women in their teen years, and boxing is a fantastic sport at least at lower levels.

( I mean yeah getting hit in the head for a living ain't it but just the training is amazing, and there's something especially empowering about getting good at hitting things )

MyThreeWords · 19/03/2026 07:15

Bristol of course. Hopefully all it means is that the Kings Trust will give the same amount of funding to a different organisation that isn't hooked on gender ideology, and which offers women's sports in an honest way. Though good luck with finding an organisation like that in Bristol.

Scotthistle that is bloody awful.

ArmchairSuccubus · 19/03/2026 07:28

Scotthistle bloody hell.

SinnerBoy · 19/03/2026 07:31

Blimey, what a ridiculous, spiteful, dog in the manger decision. I wonder if Charlie will do anything to correct the decision?

Organisations which make such perverse decisions ought to lose all funding. There must be reasonable, rational people, who would be willing to run them.

Oh, god. That's terrible. Thanks for taking the trouble to namechange and make it possible for you to post this.

MyThreeWords · 19/03/2026 07:42

This from an organisation that explicitly references the sex of its patron in its name.🙄What fucking nonsense.

I really hope that one of the girls who now can't do boxing sues the kings trust into oblivion for sex discrimination over this decision as it only disadvantages girls whilst boys including those with a trans id can still box

They won’t have the power to do that, though, will they? Girls who really know how far down the priorities list they come.

Igmum · 19/03/2026 08:24

I have never written to the King before. Now might be the time to start. He may not be actively involved but it bears his name. I struggle to believe that some lunatics are so deeply committed to this that unless men are allowed to publicly batter women they throw their toys out of the pram.

There's the jk_rowling fund for these sorts of cases and crowd funding (which I'd happily help with) all it would take is 1 brave determined girl and they will fold.
If you look at the 13 year old girl who took her council to crt over their illegal trans inclusion school guidance that amongst other issues called not inviting boys with a trans id to a girls sleep over transphobic bullying and objecting to males in the girls changing facilities was also transphobic bullying. The council withdrew the policy before they had to defend it and so did several other councils.
It can be done we just need 1 brave girl to start the ball rolling

JoyousAsOtters · 19/03/2026 08:36

Does this include self defence type courses and programmes for women and girls? If so I think a useful approach might be via the Queen or Duchess of Edinburgh. I know they won’t have anything to do with day to day running of the King’s Trust but surely they must all talk about things over the Coronation Chicken at lunch?

Thank you. I was feeling demoralised: you are absolutely right.

Another2Cats · 19/03/2026 08:55

I just noticed on their website that they have a huge photo of girls in a boxing ring (in a club in Wythenshawe, Manchester).

But, just on either side of the girls are two boys (sorry, if I'm making assumptions and I'm mistaken).

However, the boxing club where the photo was taken does not seem the type of place that would go for treating trans-identifying men as being women.

[EDIT] You need to click on the photo so see the full width

Interesting that Nicola Adams is in that photo. She only came out as GC after she had retired. Let's hope she can have a voice in this.

Iamnotalemming · 19/03/2026 10:51

This is absolutely appalling.
At its worst, this is more evidence of a mens' rights movement. All women and girls must be punished for daring to want stuff for themselves.
At its best, and if I try hard to be optimistic rather than cynical, this could be a captured organisation in spasms of uncertainty because the basis of their belief system has been found lacking. Maybe there is a way out the other side to ... normality? Respecting women and girls? I fear they will need pushing with legal action to get there though.

QuetzalTerfLus · 19/03/2026 11:29

I know in my rational brain that the King probably has little to do with the Kings Trust but the connection particularly pisses me off as if there is one institution in this country that knows what a man is, it’s the Royal Family. How else do you explain that there have been 33 kings and 8 queens regnant since 1066?!

It’s obviously no more shocking than the NHS’s take on sex v gender but it gives further evidence of just how deep the “gender” rot goes.
