I've read all your posts on this thread and I haven't seen a coherent argument as to why you think a foetus would not be alive.

I'm pro choice, but it's just factual that a foetus is alive.

Absolutely @Shortshriftandlethal the fact that @PollyNomial has such a belief is horrible.
i absolutely mourn the death of the baby I lost from miscarriage.

If anyone has an abortion (spontaneous or induced), they don't get a death certificate for the loss of their unborn fetus. There is an optional (voluntary) recognition certificate but it isn't a death certificate.

That's just how the law is: it's not a matter of my belief or me being "thick" (thanks btw), the fetus just hasn't lived until they are born.

If you really don't like the law, campaign to get it changed. If it moves to "life could be viable with a lot of medical intervention" weeks gestation or conception, I'll move with the law and then hopefully merit being (a little) less thick in your eyes.

I was fully prepared to discuss this. However, I’m not willing to have a discussion with people who feel the need to insult me in every response. We should be able to disagree without resorting to that. The insults show that those people are not engaging in good faith.

You don't get a death certificate for a dog but it was still bloody alive.

It shouldn’t be hard though. We’re grown women and we are allowed to have different points of view. You can challenge my point of view, I have no issue with robust debate, but once posters call people like me ‘think’, ‘not capable of understanding’, or unable to put forward a ‘coherent’ argument, I’m not willing to discuss the issue with that person.

All those saying until born not alive. What’s your suggestion re this ? My child was born at 34 weeks due to foetal distress by very emergency section.
are you saying doctors should just say “well if you can’t keep them alive in your womb we shouldn’t be offering intervention”? What about when the cord gets wrapped around a foetus’ neck? Same? No intervention?

I'm baffled by the lack of basic knowledge on this thread by a few posters. And the idea that you can only be alive if you have a death certificate when you die literally matter me snort. Should I be concerned that my chicken nugget is still alive because the manner doesn't come with a dessert certificate? Ever had a pet die?

Or do you want a special definition of life that inexplicably only applies to humans?

A 24 week old foetus is not a well developed and healthy baby.
