This is horrific. In front of children and possible assault victims. Who in their right mind finds this funny?

See it in its full "glory". Headford seems to have had quite a few "edgy" floats.

Remember the people who made a Guy Fawkes effigy of the people who died at Grenfell? Brown people consumed by the flames? Same thing. They walk among us.

I try very hard to find the good in people. I'm losing the ability ~ no; I've lost it.

I would have thought simulating rape whilst in public view of a captive audience which will include lots of children would fall foul of some form of criminal law surely. Voyeuristic? Causing harm?

This is just another form of male fetish. What next, simulated rape of sheep and cows? Those men are vile but I suspect they are "excited" by the condemnation.

Is it possible to find out who the men involved are?

I think the crime is outraging public decency. For example masturbating in public falls under that category

Imagine a young woman in that part of Galway/Mayo, assaulted by some drunken shithead after all the 'fun' and 'games' yesterday, waking up and wondering whether to report it, and remembering her neighbours and relatives laughing at that.

Bloody hell, what kind of parade is that? Everyone hitting everybody else on the floats?? An 'Andrew is going to jail' float? A man rubbing his fake boobs into a Jeffrey Epstein face?

I feel like I must be missing something here.

Some of the floats certainly looked like a great excuse for a punch-up.

I did like the Saudi-robed guy with the "Turf For Sale" sign on his back, but there was plenty to be appalled about overall.

There was a very good comment on the x thread, pointing out they wouldn't dare do a float with Catholic priests and young boys.

Bloody hell, that was a lot worse than I thought when clicking on the link. The carnival committee and council would have approved that float!

Evidently it wasn't approved - there was a general feeling that it was a small-town community effort and anyone who turned up could participate. I suspect there will be formal process in place next year.

I have cousins in the area. I do hope no-one belonging to them is involved.

There is no shortage of criticism of the sexual abuse of children by priests - and by the way, it wasn't all boys they abused, as usual girls are sidelined..

But I take your point about the abuse of boys being seen as more serious than the abuse of girls: in the UK media, Epstein is referred to as a paedophile; in the Irish media, he is usually referred to as a 'convicted sex offender'.
I think the sex of his victims has something to do with that.

I'm utterly shocked! It's all very anti Trump but with people being beaten in by ICE and then some bloke shagging Stephen Hawkins in a wheelchair whilst another one runs around fondling his fake breasts. I just don't know how anyone thinks this is entertainment. Am I missing something cultural in this part of Ireland?
