Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Thankfully this child has been found safe and well now but if you were local to the area and read this appeal would you have been keeping your eyes out for a male or female child?

Liverpool Echo
Call 999 if you see this missing schoolgirl
She was last seen wearing her school uniform

Merseyside Police is appealing for the public's help in finding a teenager who vanished on Monday morning. Schoolgirl Emi Glover-Wade, 15, was last seen on Monday (January 2) morning and police say extensive enquiries are ongoing to find her.

Emi, from St Helens, was last seen wearing a school uniform, including a black blazer and grey jumper. She was also wearing a Linkin Park T-shirt, dark trousers and black Converse trainers with rainbow laces, police said.

The force described her as being around 5ft 3in tall, a slim build, with shoulder length hair and wears glasses for reading. Emi is understood to have links to Glasgow and Inverness.

If you see Emi call 999 immediately so police can make sure she’s safe and well.

The photo wasn't posted on SM so people could debate who looks like a girl or boy though.

The photo was posted to find them.

The point is that it’s already in the public domain, nobody trawled through someone else’s private photo album to access it.

I would have been looking for a child of that description.

My 15m has several friends that dress where you can't really tell if they are male or female. Including my son, his favourite oodie is a pink one that reaches past his knees. He's 6'2" so quite a sight to see walking down the street.

Does he look like a girl because he’s wearing a pink hoodie?
I’m assuming not.

Considering the average height of a 15 yr old girl is 5'4" , I'd make a fairly educated guess that a 6'2" individual is male. Teenage boys have always worn pink, both of mine did/do. It's a colour, not a sex indication.

They need to state a missing person is trans if they actually care about them being found. To prioritise their gender beliefs over their actual life is ridiculous.

...I can still tell a man is a man even when they wear a pink oodie.

Everyone can. It’s quite something to imagine nobody can tell whether your son is male or female as soon as he dons his pink hoodie Confused

I would have been looking for a child of that description.

Given that the description was factually incorrect, you wouldn't have spotted him, so that was a waste of time then.

Why? The clothes were the same. Or should I have been looking for someone pretty or feminine. Because all 15 year old girls are so pretty and anyone not pretty can't possibly be a girl.

EchoedSilence · 06/02/2026 21:18

And girls don't wear Linkin Park T shirts do they?

MrsOvertonsWindow · 06/02/2026 21:23

It's yet another example of how safeguarding children comes a very poor second to the demands of people wishing to impose their personal ideological views on others.
Immensely selfish with children so often being the casualties of this ideology.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 06/02/2026 21:25

I notice how the "omg you're such huge massive meanies" always find these threads and never the ones detailing women and girls appalling treatment because of this pernicious ideology

odd that

The photo quite obviously shows a boy.
The description is for a girl. How could the public help when an incorrect description was issued when the missing teen was a boy.

Must be because the thread came up in Active. Wasn't aware you had to be part of the clique to post.

Interesting you mention height. At 5’3 the missing child would be around 9th centile for 15yo boys.

Lots of threads come up in active.

There is one on how a school is failing to safeguard a girl and the adults in chatge admit in writing that they cant put lawful safebuarding in place.

So the police doing a safeguarding appeal while choosing to not clearly identify the sex of the child is a safeguarding fail and in wider terms a PR trust issue problem.

I'd be looking for a child who matched that description.

A child or a girl?

Haven’t you heard? It’s impossible to tell the difference, apparently.

A 15 year old in a Linkin Park T shirt and converse with rainbow laces.

It's only you who seems to think that clothes are relevant when identifying whether someone is a boy or a girl. Most people look at the actual person to see if they are a boy or girl. Clothes are totally irrelevant.

DramaAndBullshit · 06/02/2026 16:28

This is pretty obviously a boy, and no one would recognise them as a girl from the description.

https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/newsliverpool/call-999-if-you-see-this-missing-schoolgirl/ar-AA1Vzv6S

From reading the description I wouldn’t have questioned that it was a girl but that pic is of a boy so 🤷

The clothes are very relevant. Or why would the police describe them?

The police didn't do a very good job when describing the boy so who knows 😕

Myalternate · 06/02/2026 22:01

‘we need the public to help us locate a missing 15 year old that was last seen wearing a pair of converse with multi coloured laces. Anyone with information can contact us on……..’

I wonder how many calls the Police would receive 🤔

btw…the sex of the child is far more relevant than the description of the clothes they were last seen wearing.
