Its live today on the scottish tribunals website and lasting for three days. Easy to join and good audio quality. I think that's marion on screen in the background. She seemed rather amused at the judge trying to understand the definitions.

What about women who have suicidal feelings? Do they matter at all?

From an April 2025 news article:

SUICIDE attempts at Scotland's only women's prison have more than doubled.
The number of desperate inmates at Cornton Vale, near Stirling, who have tried to take their own lives has rocketed from 15 to 31 in three years.
And the number of women self-harming soared by 78 per cent from 50 to 89 over the same period.

@RoyalCorgi I wondered what changed since 2022? When were the first TIM put in there, for example? Could be coincidence, of course ...

OhBuggerandArse · 05/02/2026 16:22

Am going to form the 'Little Hums of Aidan O'Neill Appreciation Society'.

(Hums are Pooh's way of thinking about important things like honey, or the weather or his friends. 'It isn't Brain, because You Know Why, but it comes to me sometimes,' says Pooh.)

When this court hands down their Judgement, is it the same a the Supreme Court? Do they all go back to hear the Judgement or is it just released?

MyAmpleSheep · 05/02/2026 16:25

Ooh... good point: "the commission is concerned that the policy removes the shield".....

ickky · 05/02/2026 16:30

3 months then?

And also runs the risk of undermining its application to other single sex spaces.

You've got to wonder. Having said that, the Scottish Prison Service has been putting trans-identified males into women's prisons since 2014.

Got to love Miss Scott - I thought we'd run out of time so I've written it all down. But then give me 2 minutes and I'll do a great and rather rapid evisceration job.

They've been putting them in there since at least 2006 -

Fair enough, I didn't check before thinking out loud.

Edited

From the article

However, it does allow for circumstances where<a class="break-all" href="https://archive.ph/o/FPEkv/www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-63823420" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"> trans women - born biologically male - could be housed alongside women if they are deemed not to pose an unacceptable risk to them.

Holy double negatives Batman

OpheliaWitchoftheWoods · 05/02/2026 17:26

If they just pose an acceptable risk to women then whatevs, you know. It's like the chap who explained about women's deaths just being domestic violence done wrong and silly eggshell skulls. Whats a bloke to do? Could happen to anyone. Do your domestic violence right guys.

womendeserveequalhumanrights · 05/02/2026 17:33

If they're going to such pains to hear from the TIM about what might make him suicidal you think they'd at least bother to ask women - who may very well have previously experienced domestic abuse and coercive control - whether it would make them suicidal to be locked up with a man pretending to be a woman forcing them to lie (showering with them etc).

I bet the number of women this would make suicidal is higher than the number of suicidal TIMs.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 05/02/2026 17:42

A sincere thank you to everyone who's listened and commented so the rest of us don't have to listen to the complete fuckwittery spoken by those determined to wedge men into women's prisons. Flowers

RhannionKPSS · 05/02/2026 18:18

Thanks to all on this thread, let’s see if Lady Ross is as sensible as I think she is and finds that women deserve single sex prisons.

As you probably all know the women’s prisons were targeted by trans activists because they knew if they could get men into those single sex spaces , then the rest of our single sex spaces would be easy to infiltrate.
Let’s hope Scottish Government pay their debt to FWS very soon too

At one point today the respondent's barrister seemed to be falling back on 'well, mixed changing areas seem to work OK for swimming pools so it should work OK in prisons' or something similar.

All the bricks in the wall need to be knocked down otherwise activists will keep trying to connect them together again.

It was worse: what he said was mixed-sex swimming was ok. He acknowledged there were single-sex changing areas.

This is getting plainer and plainer. The GRA has to go. Any inch is constantly being tugged for several hundred miles, this is not a reasonable or honest movement.

Wonder if he'd think mixed sex prisons but separate sleeping/showering facilities would be ok for all prisoners, or whether that would be detrimental to women on a sexed basis?

It's more that it's a bit of a shock that it's been getting done for such a long time. The best part of 20 years that the SPS have disregarded women in favour of men.
