The one where the men get their jollies showing their cock and balls. There is a petition which is not getting much traction. You may want to sign if you don't want to encourage this.

There are naturist beaches and clubs if people want to feel 'liberated'.

These events are forcing non consenting members of the public to witness it and I'm not ok with that.

Of course it will attract the weirdos and pervs!

Yeah, there is a big difference between being naked and 'feeling free' (which does not necessitate other non-consenting people seeing your nakedness) and being naked in a city, which does.

The latter seems to me to be a performance event.

I am highly suspicious of the latter.

DangerQuakeRhinoSnake · 26/01/2026 21:09

Yes @BettyBooper it's almost like they need the 'validation' of the masses.

Feels ever so familiar.

🤷‍♀️ if you don’t like it avoid that part of London on that day.

Kids! Avoid these streets due to indecent exposure. Got it.

Women get thier bits out too. If you don't like it you don't have to look.

I mean, arent they on a public street? Pretty hard not to look isn't the whole point of them doing it is to be seen? Like if I'm walking down the street with my 5 to minding my business and a group of naked people ride by me, how is that different from just downright flashing?

If you want to be nude outside go to a nude beach - which is secluded from public view. If you actually enjoy being naked in front of strangers, including children, who don't want or at the very least aren't expecting to see that - you're a perv.

ThatZanyFatball · 26/01/2026 21:26

Greenfinch7 · 26/01/2026 13:26

Doesn't bother me, and I wouldn't care if my kids saw naked people. My kids are perfectly capable of figuring out that people aren't naked most of the time in public. I also don't think that being naked is threatening or shocking in this context.

And here it is folks. Nothing wrong with being naked in front of children. Pretty much sums up the end goals of gender ideology in a nutshell.

Rather difficult for the people who live, work or have business there, wouldn't you say?

Yeah, you hear that all you Londoners, including Christian and Muslim, who may need to work in, travel through, or access that part of a major metropolitan city on a day when a bunch of pervs unnecessarily need to expose themselves in public bc they don't want to go to any of the numerous nude lakes or beaches nearby that are secluded from public view?? If you're offended, or if your religion forbids it, maybe just don't show up to work, close your business, take a different route, find alternative care for your kid, shop elsewhere, worship elsewhere, or otherwise put yourself out and potentially lose income. Like, it's literally that simple 🤷

I don't really see what nakedness has to do with gender ideology. People doing this ride are trying to raise awareness of environmental and road safety issuewhile being a bit humourous.

People swimming naked in Europe has nothing to do with gender ideology either.

Kids seeing naked bodies is not harmful to anyone. In fact, I think that communicating to children that bodies are natural, nothing to be overly worked up about, can be part of a good attitude towards the immutability of sex and the absurdity of gender ideology.

ThatZanyFatball · 26/01/2026 21:35

OneOfEachPlease · 26/01/2026 13:50

You are completely misrepresenting this event which is fully agreed with the authorities. It may not be your cup of tea but that doesn’t mean that you get to imply that all these people are perverts and and paedophiles?!

You mean the authorities who literally protect perverts and pedophiles - as in their failures to act on reports of the grooming gangs, Surrey Pride, etc. Those authorities?

ConvolutedCat · 26/01/2026 21:42

Not something I fancy taking part in myself, but I spoke to a very nice older lady a few years ago, who takes part every year. She explained that (the one in our city at least) is aimed at raising awareness of the vulnerability of cyclists, and she takes part in memory of her friend who was killed by a car. Seems reasonable. Pretty sure they’re not a bunch of pervs.

Yeah, um, we're not that dumb. People just want to ride naked and hide behind some bs moral high ground to get away with it. I suppose your argument is that people who don't want their kids to be exposed to naked adult strangers are anti-environment. Just like being against conducting permanent medical experiments on kids are just MAGA.

I mean by all means keep talking more about how you believe exposing yourself to strange children is good for them. I love it when people make my argument for me.

Yeah, er, no.

You literally have no idea why certain men want to get you to think them getting naked Infront of children is 'normal'?

I am seriously losing patience with anyone this stupid.

Seems reasonable? Really?

Er, why on earth does your acquaintance think she needs to remove all her clothes to promote cycle safety?

Sure you mean people, not men….

unless your massively sexist obvs 👍

you are losing patience with yourself?

I doubt if she feels she “needs” to, but from the discussion on this thread these events clearly attract some attention. The fact that it’s got us even mentioning cyclist safety on MN is great. Maybe it’ll subconsciously lodge in some person’s mind to give cyclists a little bit more space as they pass.

As I said, not my cup of tea, but quite ridiculous to assume they’re all pervs.

CultureAndFisheriesTsarina · 26/01/2026 22:20

The organisers know that they are pushing a boundary here. They are having to state that sexual behaviour is not tolerated, that children should be properly dressed and should not be photographed and they have a whole section on how to deal with problem photographers. Either they are well-intentioned themselves but know that predators and fetishists will target the ride, or they are not well-intentioned themselves and trying to hide that.
The evening entertainment last year was a drag queen and two burlesque acts.

They have a Naked Bike Ride every year in Portland, Oregon. Usually it’s just considered a “Keep Portland Weird” sort of an event and is held in summer. Last November however, it was part of an anti ICE protest, the Emergency World Naked Bike Ride. It was rainy and cold, so many people wore (clear) raincoats.

There is a novel by Alexander McCall-Smith where the Scottish nudists have a meeting, and they are all wearing transparent rain ponchos. I now wonder if that really happened and he borrowed it for the book.

There is something quite funny about an ideological commitment to nudity that leads people to transparent clothing.

Kinda weird, because skin is waterproof

Kinda weird, because skin is waterproof

Maybe it is warmer if the rain isn't directly on your skin? Or having it dripping down your butt crack is unpleasant?

Which are all reasons people in Oregon and Scotland don't normally just mosey about in loincloths on a daily basis, so the clear raincoats just seem to prove that the the principle of nudism is a little suspect.

Couldn't she do that by just wearing underwear? Still gets that message over.

Why do they have to be completely naked?

DulciUke · 26/01/2026 22:56

Re the Portland riders, they were risking hypothermia being wet at that time of year.

Your logic is off.

A⟹B is not equal to ¬A⟹¬B

I don't think that people who don't want to ride bicycles naked in January don't believe that climate destruction is a problem.

I am the opposite of a Trump supporter and am vigorously against 'conducting permanent medical experiments on kids'- (giving kids hormones, etc.)

I don't 'believe exposing yourself to strange children is good for them' I just don't think that is what is going on at this event, nor do I think kids seeing naked humans is damaging to them unless those people have something dodgy going on, which I don't think these people do. The mere passing sight of a human body is not inherently damaging to anyone.

Oh the love of God. How are you going to tell little Johnny the difference between his scoutmaster exposing his penis, after scouts and his scout master exposing his penis on a bike.

Some people live in La La Land.

Normalising naked men exposing themselves to children because it's good for the kids !

Datun · 26/01/2026 23:27

Although I have to say, justifying it using an elderly lady in mourning for her friend is a novel approach.
