Unbelieveable, that's actually worse than I thought it was. I'm hoping when she was forced into a lower grade her pay and pension were protected.

1984Now · 22/01/2026 12:52

I'm in a medical related profession, and have some idea just how stressful being struck off could be. It's evident that on the one hand the elites grades in medicine are protected, surgeons, senior consultants, whistle blowers feel the full force of NHS blowback when one of their elites are threatened.
But everyone below that exhalted clique, primarily nurses, are fair game.

AreYouSureAskedNaomi · 22/01/2026 13:49

So she was basically demoted. I'd love to see the internal emails between HR and her managers.

I guess it will all come out at the tribunal in April

Popcorn at the ready.
This is so surreal
Apparently, the battle for trans rights was going to be the final frontier, the last minority to be lifted up, the whole of society the winner.
What did we find instead?
Trans lack no rights.
Another group lose their rights.
And the controllers of the narrative will crush any woman who stands in their way.
Yep, the whole of society is the winner.

I hope other papers reprint this interview.

Its heartbreaking that she has been treated as she has. I am not someone who believes in faiths, but am disgusted that when it suits them authorities will allows that some beliefs have to be respected but when it doesn't the dont.

In this case I expect racism was the biggest driving factor in her treatment.

Also if they are not taking action I hope they will pay her the loss of income by them demoting her.

I am sure that was part of an attempt to get her to resign.

All these managers playing these power games, making sure that they are okay.

Although they probably cant because of their employment contracts, I would hope that the prison staff who had to restrain the maniac would give evidence on her behalf.

It must have been really terrifying.

Bet the hospital didn't do a risk assessment knowing that a female member of staff had been subjected to this violence.

nicepotoftea · 22/01/2026 17:29

I think the case will be important because it must specifically address the obligation to use preferred pronouns.

Is it essential to the patient care of a paedophile?

I'm in an allied medical profession. Having the Sword of Damocles hanging over you ie threat to strike off etc, is one of the worst feelings you can have. Especially when there is zero wrong done by you as applies to Nurse Mellie here.
Where's the penalty for egregious action against an innocent member of staff?
There isn't any, nice when they collect their gold plated pensions for being shitty human beings.

Tallisker · 22/01/2026 18:17

So what would have happened to her if she’d told the doctor on the phone a catheter was needed for a female patient?

Greyskybluesky · 22/01/2026 18:31

From Sex Matters:
She also noted that a white colleague used male pronouns for the same patient but
was not investigated.

So what would have happened to her if she’d told the doctor on the phone a catheter was needed for a female patient?

Ah, that's easy. She should have just said the patient was one of the 0.5% of females that have a penis. She could have dug out a Keir Starmer interview clip when he said 0.5% of men have a cervix, and sent the link to the doctor she was talking to, informing that doctor that because our PM said it, it must be right.

I am surprised. Although I shouldn't be. I really need to learn to manage my expectations.

Good question. How should medics relay information?

I'm not surprised, but I am shocked.
Cognitive dissonance is really not good for one's state of mind.
However it's consistent with the whole movement being cognitively dissonant.
I remember being young and pulling myself away from religion.
This is like a religion that insists on pulling one in.

womendeserveequalhumanrights · 23/01/2026 09:29

That's awful and most NHS trusts have anti-racism policies. Why does trans trump that? They don't seem to have cared much about the racist abuse Jennifer Melle received from the paedophile.

It may be the paedophile didn't complain about the white colleague (given he was obviously racist) and they only acted on what he wanted - the NHS management dancing to the tune of a violent convicted paedophile isn't a good look.

If he'd asked to be placed on a children's ward because he 'identified as a child' would they have done so? Threatened all the horrified nursing staff with the sack if they didn't comply? Would they literally have put children at risk of sexual assault? I'm sadly not convinced the answer to that is no.

Is the NHS actually about patient care any more or is it all about validating and imposing the identities of violent men on unconsenting victims? Because I'm beginning to see the argument for dismantling it, in it's current form at least.

womendeserveequalhumanrights · 23/01/2026 09:35

Also, Jennifer Melle stood up (like Sandie Peggie) but given the bullying she received from the trust, most colleagues won't feel able to.

They will be subject to coercive control from their employer to deny biological reality when it comes to this paedophile who was readmitted later.

How can we believe this NHS trust that punishes front line staff for stating the truth will safeguard children effectively from this paedophile?

Grammarnut · 23/01/2026 20:06

Really pleased.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/01/2026 01:32

It’s an appalling case from start to finish. Jennifer has been treated so badly.
