This is so brilliant, well done Darlington nurses and everyone who supported them. It beggars belief that this is even a thing in 2026 but here we are.

Just out of curiosity, which changing room do trans men need to use? Would any females mind a male presenting 'woman' using their changing room and WC?

OH MY GOD

IT'S A TRANSMAN GOTCHA

HAVEN'T SEEN ONE OF THESE FOR AT LEAST 12 MINUTES

IF ONLY THE SUPREME COURT RULING HAD ADDRESSED IT EXPLICITLY IN CLEAR PLAIN ENGLISH FOR ANYONE WHO READ IT

WE'RE MELTING, MEEEELTING......

teawamutu · 16/01/2026 13:13

Any chance that this might finally force Phillipson's hand on the EHRC guidance, does anyone think?

The gaslighting is off the scale with that one.

The absolute brass balls to re-define the word 'inclusive' to mean 'exclusive of females'. Because we know many women can't use a space with men in it - religious women, women who've suffered trauma and women who just don't bloody want to get changed in front of pervy men!

"The Tribunal’s judgment concludes: “We were unclear what was meant by the submission that the policy was ‘lawful’ and deeper consideration of the argument led us to conclude that the policy of permitting biological males who identify as women to use a female changing room was not ‘lawful’.” The judgment then points out that the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 requires an employer to provide changing facilities which “include separate facilities for, or separate use of facilities by, men and women where necessary or reasons of propriety”."

This is great news.

Yes the proper use of the 1992 health and safety regulations at last.

Well done brave nurses for standing up Flowers

BungledBundle · 16/01/2026 13:15

So pleased and relieved. Well done to those brave, brave women. Watching the news conference now.

Unbelievable really that the NHS, of all organisations, has got itself into this mess. Truly shaking my head.

It’s suddenly occurred to me that they could have been waiting for this judgement??

WarriorN · 16/01/2026 13:16

Not because it’s needed but for the publicity….

Skyellaskerry · 16/01/2026 13:17

I just heard that Shelagh Fogarty is discussing the topic at 3-4 LBC. Something along the lines of are we going to have to do this case by case so I expect those snail paced guidelines will be part of the conversation

WarriorN · 16/01/2026 13:17

the woman at the press conference (I think from Christian concern?) was very clear that the cases need to stop now. There’s no need for them

Congratulations to the nurses, a well deserved victory after what they've been put through. A big massive thanks from me for standing up and fighting for the rights of all women. 💐👏😁

WarriorN · 16/01/2026 13:22

Ahhh leading piece on world at one R4 👏

Helleofabore · 16/01/2026 13:22

I hope that this will be the end of those fucking posters telling women and girls to accept male people in the single sex provisions.

I want to say ‘Never a-fucking-gain!’

WarriorN · 16/01/2026 13:23

And they included the bit that he has a female partner

NotNatacha · 16/01/2026 13:23

…the nurses ….

… say they never wanted to hurt Rose…….but it was the Trust that put Rose in that position.
