Feminism: Sex and gender discussions
ProfessorLadyDrKeenovay · 08/01/2026 22:41

If the Court of Session does declare the Supreme Court's FWS ruling incompatible with the European Court of Human Rights, via a Declaration of Incompatibility... can't the D of I itself be appealed and overturned by the Supreme Court?

Or would that be like the SC marking its own homework? IANAL (obviously!)

RedToothBrush · 08/01/2026 23:02

Did they miss the part where only sex and gender reassignment are in law and that for the purposes of equality males reassigned gender aren't actually the female sex and you still can't change sex.

Yes absolutely thick as mince.

Myalternate · 08/01/2026 23:04

WearyAuldWumman · 08/01/2026 22:35

What about the other 61 genders?!

61 you say… hmmm 🤔

They (can I call them ‘They’ ?) clearly are suffering from befuddlement so presumably wouldn’t notice where they were.

JellySaurus · 08/01/2026 23:11

What would happen to them if they were physically ill (as opposed to mentally ill)? Would life-saving medical care be considered unacceptably cruel if it resulted in existential crisis ? Does SNP demand that trans-dientifying male prisoners be mistreated by undermedication to facilitate delusion affirmation ?

I never fail to be gobsmacked at how the trans ideologues demand substandard care for trans-identifying people.

Thelnebriati · 08/01/2026 21:24

This is all a psyops to cause chaos. Prove me wrong.

We-e-ll, there was that business of a bunch of the more frothy cybernat accs suddenly going dark after the Israeli missile strike caused an internet blackout in Iran last year. It's possible that the SNP dog is to some extent being wagged by hostile foreign tails without realising it.

TheABC · 08/01/2026 23:29

Most of Iran's internet is down at the moment; the few accounts getting through via Starlink are showing massive street protests.

I'm not going to sit here and predict the collapse of the Iranian regime tonight. But their economy is in freefall and something is going to explode.

Going back to Scotland, the SNP are terrified of appearing anything less than progressive (as long as it doesn't involve women), or appearing to agree with Westminster. I would love them to be voted out in May.

WandaWomblesaurusWonka · 08/01/2026 23:54

“in an intermediate zone of neither one sex nor the other” sounds like an electronica band lyric. I can see the pvc boiler suits now.

Band name:
The Phantom Zone
The Sexless Abysmal Derelict Building Zone
Boy’s Own
or
Diane’s Rusty Nuts

Yup. There are 64 genders including male, female and non-binary if you believe the 14 yr old who tried to give me a lecture about it one time.

You can only use "They" if those folk identify as "They". If those folk happen to be Xe/Xim/Ze/Zir [or summat else], then you're a BIGOT! points finger

The last time I did supply*, I had a pupil who claimed to have the pronouns xe/xim. Said pupil's best friend retorted "Aye, and my pronouns as 'yer/maw'!"

I implore you, won't you think of those who identify as yer/maw?

*Note to anyone seeking to get me struck off - I'm now retired and no longer on the teaching register. Thank goodness.

Myalternate · 09/01/2026 00:16

WearyAuldWumman …I've just tried pointing my finger but noticed that in doing so, my other fingers are pointing back at me!

Trans inmates sexless if banned from female prisons, say ministers

Very misleading headline: trans people are not banned from female prisons at all - only the male ones are banned. Isn't it interesting how nobody actually seems to care in the slightest when it's the other way around... now who was it trying to erase trans people again?

lcakethereforeIam · 09/01/2026 00:23

Before the SC clarification, in English prisons at least, we were told that TiM would not be held in women's prisons if they committed a violent and/or sexual offence against a woman. Actually if that's what they were being imprisoned for. As we know sexual offences are rarely successfully prosecuted.

Anyway, I was thinking today what would they have done if a TiM assaulted another TiM. Would they have seen it as an offence against a woman, so off to the men's prison, or against a man. Would it depend if the victim had a GRC or had all the surgeries. Similarly, if the victim was a TiF. What then?

Sorry, I realise this is a derail but I needed to put this somewhere.

ScotGov are deminstrating what a bunch of fuckwits work there. On the plus side the nonbins must be feeling validated. So ill wind.

I was about to ask, Who on earth votes for this shower?

Possibly a lot fewer people than once did, now that they have truly demonstrated the extent of their idiocy.

I learned my lesson. But it's the sin that keeps on giving. 😕

Blooperz · 09/01/2026 02:54

Scottish government is a mess, they just need to follow the Supreme Court ruling and look after single sex spaces. Potentially create a trans prison if required? Females in prison have been on the receiving end of male abuse and are deeply traumatised , they desperately need safe female spaces

UtopiaPlanitia · 09/01/2026 03:17

ScotGov and UKGov are tying themselves in knots, lying, stalling, and generally acting like shameless sleekit fuckwits over the Supreme Court ruling because they don't want to give in to the women of FWS. We've all had to deal with men like this who go apeshit in trying to punish you if you, a mere woman, beat him at something.

They feel irritation and shame at being bested by 3 middle-aged women who have the audacity to question their betters and to not be a huge NGO, with latent kudos attached to their name, while doing so - Swinney and Starmer would feel better if they were beaten by Amnesty or Stonewall, those names have panache and elan in their minds.

Both governments are refusing to give in and obey the law in order to demonstrate how little they care for uppity women who disagree with them.

selffellatingouroborosofhate · 09/01/2026 04:04

ProfessorLadyDrKeenovay · 08/01/2026 22:05

The Supreme Court and the EHRC handed the Scottish Govt a get out of jail free card wrapped up in a red bow. Why won't they accept it? They could keep pulling regretful faces while blaming it on the bigger boys.

Don't true Indy believers in their party know that this topic isn't a vote winner, and will set their cause back? Look at how Sturgeon's career ended.

So I can't fathom their motivation. Is this really only about a genuine concern for trans prisoners?* Surely there's something else going on. A face saving exercise? A final petulant swipe at the UK govt for blocking self ID?

  • I do think some male politicians are more concerned about transwomen getting raped in male prisons, than they are about women getting raped in female prisons. Being raped by a stronger man in prison is a common, visceral fear. Perhaps that's why they empathise with transwomen and want them to be "safe" and apart from men.

I have a more sinister suspicion.

They view women as what some radfems call "the rape class". By that, radfems mean "the class of people who exist as valid targets for rapists within a patriarchy", "the people that it's OK to rape under at least some circumstances", and by extension "the people who should expect to be raped".

To them, putting men into the same cages as women who cannot even freely access the morning after pill, let alone an abortion, is more acceptable than putting those men into cages with other men, because women are the rape class and men are not. Putting women at risk of rape conforms to patriarchal social order. Putting men at risk of rape violates that social order.

I reckon we could go Net Zero and 100% electric vehicles tomorrow if we hooked an alternator up to Elizabeth Fry's coffin.

Oh good God 🤦‍♀️. Have they found a third gamete? No? Then they are not neither one sex nor the other, they are men.

There. I have just saved the Scottish Government and the Courts a lot of time and money. HTH.

But they have! The rapist gamete, according to the Greens leader. I wonder if it's called Spislagg, in reference to its most famous producer...

SerafinasGoose · 09/01/2026 13:39

'Sexless'.

I may be a dinosaur, but to me that definition suggests 'starved of intimate interaction'. However, the fact that these people have an endless problem with accurate terminology comes as no surprise!

INeedAPensieve · 09/01/2026 13:42

silverwrath · 08/01/2026 21:30

'left sexless'

I swear to god the SNP are brainless, misogynistic gaslighters.

And I voted for them. Twice. So what the hell does that say about me (clearly rhetorical ... before anyone chimes in). 🙁

Don't worry I did as well, @silverwrath , multiple times.

Never again and I'll be telling any of the SNP folks that come round to my door during the election time exactly why not.

OpheliaWitchoftheWoods · 09/01/2026 13:51

On one hand, every single woman in the vicinity of this man may experience anything including distress, discomfort, triggering of previous trauma, emotional and sexual threat and harassment, loss of her privacy, dignity, sense of safety, actual assault and severe injury.

On the other, a man may experience a difficult psychological feeling. (I could be a hell of a lot more honest and cynical there about what he's actually most likely to really experience.)

Give me bloody strength.

Thelnebriati · 09/01/2026 13:53

They don't really think men become sexless. They are performing a parody of feminism, and are misusing the 'intersectional' argument.

TheKeatingFive · 09/01/2026 14:06

They are obviously being incentivised by someone to push this complete bullshit. What other explanation could there be?
