Didn’t we get warned in July last years that the SC judgement meant the UK was heading to genocidal territory?

Surely that warning was 15 years too late? After all the EA came in in 2010?

SoftBalletShoes · 07/01/2026 22:41

Trans people do face a huge risk of violence, but I think calling it genocide is a bit much. Genocide is state-sponsored mass killing. Trans people are at risk from individual right-wing bigots, not armies.

This claim fails on two grounds:

  1. Genocide is, by definition, a crime that can only be committed against a racial, ethnic, national, or religious group. Unless you are trying to claim with a straight face that trans ideology is a religion, this definition cannot apply to trans people.
  1. Being told to use your own sex's facilities isn't a human rights violation. Neither is being told to compete in the sports team for own sex, nor being housed in your own sex's prison. Genocide requires human rights violations on a large scale, and the US simply isn't doing that.

Since trans women are women, imo, being told to use the men's when you're actually a woman is a violation of your rights. I'm sure you wouldn't like to be told to use the men's, so why is it different for a trans woman?

It doesn't matter how many times you say a man is a woman it doesn't make it true. They are men, I don't care where they go as long as it's not the women's. And having spent my working life being misgendered often It wouldn't upset me to be told to use the men's. I'd be rather bemused but that's about it.

Toilets are segregated by sex category and not gender identity or by philosophical belief. A male person being told to use the male toilet is not controversial at all.

Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention sounds the alarm over transgender genocide.

I’ve just had the awful thought that maybe these fantasists actually believe what they’re saying. Is that possible?

A lot of them obviously have mental health issues. They talk about men being “literally killed” by being called men.
And they seem to believe that some part of their self somehow slipped into the wrong body before they were born.
And apparently some of them think their internal organs can change, eg they can grow a cervix.

Paranoia wouldn’t be that surprising.

Human rights violations aren't genocide though. You can do all kinds of things that are against human rights of a group that are not genocide.

They’re sterilising themselves. That’s not anyone else’s fault.

If a man’s fantasy is that he’s a three-year-old, would you mind him playing in your child’s nursery? If his fantasy is that he’s a surgeon, would you let him operate on you? Why does the fantasy of being a woman somehow trump all safety concerns?

HildegardP · 07/01/2026 23:20

The Lemkin Institute is, if we are to be kind, incompetent, & if we are to be honest, a (verysmall) bunch of lying shysters.

Toilets and similar are segregated by sex. "Trans women" are male and so should use the male toilets. Asking me to use the male toilets would be incorrect because I am female.

You are correct in your pedantry, but also irrelevant. The treatment of trans-identifying people in the US isn't even at the level of "human rights violation other than genocide". It's at "you get the same rights as everyone else, based on your sex like everyone else" level, aka fairness.

Any argument can be made to look ridiculous by making it into an extreme version of itself. Surely you can see the difference between someone thinking they are a three-year-old and someone who wants to transition to the opposite sex? I'd get a check-up if not! 🤣

No human can change sex. It's you that needs the checkup.

I would find it very weird if the people linked below were told to use the men's. (They are public figures who are trans women.)

Not completely change sex, no. But I do think that the TW I posted above - that is, those who have medically and socially transitioned - are a type of woman. You only have to look at them to see that they're not the same as regular men!

I actually do need a check-up 🤣

It's not pedantic to say that "human rights" and "genocide" are not the same thing.

All genocides are human rights violations, but not all human rights violations are genocide. With that cleared up, perhaps my first post makes more sense?

Extremists do take unreasonable positions. Luckily there's usually a large middle ground of reasonable people. I doubt that most trans women think they can grow a cervix.

Because they are biological males = men.

My memory is a bit hazy on this, but IIRC there was a group that named themselves after Anne Frank, without any permission from her family.

I have a very strong and emotive memory from my childhood of watching Otto Frank, Anne's father, being interviewed on TV, so I always felt appropriating her name for any cause was a bit much.

Was that on Blue Peter? My mother thinks she may have seen him on there.

selffellatingouroborosofhate · 08/01/2026 01:45

Apparently, Mumsnet's automoderater doesn't like me linking to a Blogspot about the alleged arsonist Marcus "Ella" Potter.

  1. Make-up, cosmetic surgery, cross-sex hormones, breast implants, and photo filters do not a woman make.
  2. Voice, gait, and hip-waist-shoulder ratio will tell women that they are looking at a man in real-life.
  3. Letting those men in also means letting this man in. It's utterly unworkable to admit men on the basis of how well they "pass" as women. Who judges that? And would the person doing the judging understand that female sexual assault survivors will have a very finely-honed man detector that will detect almost all, if not all, trand-identifying men?

There's isn't a workable middle ground on this. Either you make everything mixed-sex, or you say no exceptions apart from very young children (and even then people argue about how old is "too old" for a boy to use the ladies).

I think there's a workable middle-ground solution. Anyone who doesn't pass should have to produce a gender cert if challenged, and the certs shouldn't be issued until they have undergone a medical, social, and psychological transition - including a full course of hormone treatment, if not surgery.

In practice, it's self-regulating because post-transition trans women look just like women (like the ones I posted above), are no danger to anyone, and no one bats an eyelid. And anyone who is clearly a regular man should be - and is - kept out.

Remind me again, which people are assaulting women, threatening women with rape violence and death and doxxing and demanding women lose their jobs?
