Case against Louise Distras collapses

Louise Distras has been through the most shocking experience of being harassed and hounded by trans activists - and then prosecuted for being the harasser.

Fortunately, the case fell apart.

For those not on Twitter, this is what she says:

Finally dragged myself out of this Christmas flu pit to tell you that on 9 December, I walked out of Leeds Crown Court NOT GUILTY. The case collapsed before it even got to trial. The CPS stood up, admitted they had zero evidence, and told the judge there wasn’t a cat in hell’s chance of any jury convicting me.

I’d been facing up to five years in prison for allegedly breaching an expired (and dodgy AF) non-molestation order. My “crime”? Speaking publicly about the abuse and stalking I’d suffered from a male trans activist at the Let Women Speak event in Leeds and in an X Spaces chat back in 2023.

After years of stress, cancelled gigs, lost income, and the music industry turning its back on me…something finally went right.

I’m still trying to get my head around the sheer insanity of it all. I’ve got a lot more to say when I’m ready, but right now I just needed you to know the good news.

It’s early days but I’ve already started the wheels turning on suing West Yorkshire Police too - watch this space.

The police and CPS don't pursue cases "for nothing" but they do drop them when the 'evidence' evaporates under scrutiny, which is exactly what happened here. The threshold wasn't met because the claims were baseless from the start, so Louise Distras should never have been arrested or charged in the first place. As for "not as black and white" it becomes pretty black and white when the prosecution themselves say no evidence exists and drop it before trial. The repeated fake accounts here and refusal to accept the court outcome just show the harassment and stalking of Louise from the so called "victim" hasn't stopped

Imagine being a fully grown man who uses a sock puppet army of fake accounts to smear his own sister on mumsnet because she won't play along with the delusion that men can magically turn into women. Truly unhinged behaviour.

Not guilty is a full acquittal, yeah, but ..

What part of 'full acquittal' are you and other posters having difficulty with?

The 'not proven' verdict doesn't even exist in Scotland any more, they abolished it.

I've seen places actually suggest generating a user name that way (descriptor descriptor noun) so that you can remember it Does MN do that to new users?

They remind me of What3Words locations. hoping.clever.drop or same.comic.clots.
