Maternity outcomes vs gender affirming surgery outcomes

Just rambling my thoughts along and I can’t understand why women are generally refused/discouraged from cesareans on the grounds that the health outcomes are worse than natural childbirth, but people with healthy bodies are given gender affirming surgery which commonly has complications.

And it can’t be on the grounds of mental health implications when traumatic birth experiences leave huge numbers of women with life long PTSD and post natal depression sometimes leading to suicide.

It seems like such a double standard.

How about the fact that young women with debilitating endometriosis are refused hysterectomies because “they might find a man and he might want to have children some day,” but young women who say they they are not women are fast-tracked into such surgeries?

You only have to scratch the surface before you see how little of it makes sense.

The cesareans really annoys me because I was refused and had massive birth damage which messed me up psychologically for years.

It makes sense if you view it through the lens of misogyny. Women aren't allowed to self-identify or have control over their own bodies unless they're self-identifying into regressive sexist stereotypes (that benefit men who see women as props) and their own harm / oppression.

Scratch below the surface and there are a lot of people who don't think women are as deserving of human rights as men. Viewing it through that lens makes it all quite clear, really, I find.

Unrelated cases. Should we not treat healthy people injuring themselves at the gym either? Or do we just seeth about the trans?

I'm lost. Healthy people who are injured are not healthy anymore by definition, and that's why we treat them. And anyway, who are you comparing to them: women giving birth, or trans people?

I thought that following scandals where women had suffered bad outcomes because because of emphasis on 'natural birth' they weren't discouraged any more?

Can you explain how it is ‘trans bashing’ to want similar standards of care and caution to avoid harm to be applied consistently?

Why do you think it is ok for people who claim a trans identity to be able to have procedures that will ruin their health but others are protected far more rigorously? Isn’t that a bit transphobic?

I'm not sure what your argument is here. It's illegal to sell tattoos and alcohol to under eighteens, and smoking is gradually being banned. There are strict safety restrictions on both air travel and X-rays.

High sugar foods are taxed to discourage consumption.

In the UK there are strict controls on the kind of medical treatment that can be given, and doctors can refuse treatment that they think will do harm.
