Happy Terfmas - JKR 3D printable Xmas Bauble

Fionne Orlander on X has shared a plan to print a 3d "JKR smoking a cigar Xmas bauble".

I've contacted local printer to see if they can print one for me.

Does anyone know if you can paint 3D printed things?

Anyway wanted to share with you all as I think its fabulous - though god knows what it will look like in the end.

Put a coat of primer on before painting, something like
Vallejo Model Color 17 ml Polyurethane Primer
Other brands exist..

I have a 3d printer! Getting on it, been waiting for this file to appear!

And yes if you use pla to print, it takes acrylic paint BEAUTIFULLY! I use a generic neutral to prove it and then acrylic paint pens.

I have TWO 3D printers - does that make me extra awesome.

Use acrylic paints or paint pens and it'll paint up fine - bonus is Posca pens are on special at Tesco at the moment I noticed.

How do you get the glass to be transparent? Can you 3d print one item with different materials, is the whole thing translucent under the paint or is it printed in pieces and put together?

There seem to be companies that will 3d print stuff for you and will give a quote if you upload the file.

To answer my previous question, it is printed in one piece. If you used blue filament the glass will be blue, green it'll be green etc.

I was boat last night BUT currently printing a huge 200% model of Jkr . Hoping it works!

Can you give a short description of the content?

Unfortunately this print is flawed and I can’t get past a certain point without it falling. Both prints have had the same flaws and issues so it’s a no go for me. I’m aiming is because it’s a AI file adaptation from a photo. Not unusual for the file to fail through that process sadly.

Success. JKR will be joining us for Christmas.

Off to get some suitable paints now.

If you can describe the problem DH may be able to advise. He’s a bit of a 3D printing nerd guru
