Society can’t both give (some people’s) sense of personal dislocation from gender stereotypes a special legal status .. and at the same time… deny other people’s personal sense of dislocation from gender stereotypes as a ‘provocation’. That doesn’t work in a fair society.
Well that is, unless there’s an important unspoken factor underlying society granting these personal permissions and validations selectively, that distinguishes between these two groups? Like whether these opinion-havers also possess male biology and socialisation, or female biology and socialisation .
Its a reinforcement of the age old structures that male biology (however he presents) gets to call the shots over female biology (however she presents) with the women expected to just knuckle under and budge up uncomplainingly.
