Sex Matters, a charity that campaigns for single-sex rights, will argue that the City of London Corporation is breaching equality law by allowing trans women to use Kenwood Ladies’ Pond on Hampstead Heath.

I think they'd argue that women who identify as men are/always have been welcome in the men's pond.
Of course Man Friday showed this to be not totally true. But then the argument was that they weren't 'real' trans men, they were being provocative.

Society can’t both give (some people’s) sense of personal dislocation from gender stereotypes a special legal status .. and at the same time… deny other people’s personal sense of dislocation from gender stereotypes as a ‘provocation’. That doesn’t work in a fair society.

Well that is, unless there’s an important unspoken factor underlying society granting these personal permissions and validations selectively, that distinguishes between these two groups? Like whether these opinion-havers also possess male biology and socialisation, or female biology and socialisation .

Its a reinforcement of the age old structures that male biology (however he presents) gets to call the shots over female biology (however she presents) with the women expected to just knuckle under and budge up uncomplainingly.

It’s just not OK to spoil a women’s activity that’s been going on for years because men want to have it, and don’t want women to have it.

It’s not an inclusion problem because the same area already has separate areas for mixed and each of single sex swimming. so no reason why everyone who wants a swim in the area can’t be happy.

This whole expensive and time consuming fight is purely about male demands for mandatory male validation by women and for male access to women and girls in a state of undress. It just beggars belief how supercharged with credibility, these male supremacy beliefs still are. How do they still get given the time of day?

Just curious as to why you mention 'transmen' in your statement as they are men and would therefore only be able to access the men's pond. The issue would be those that identify as non-binary as they could fit into either category or neither category.

Not sure who you're addressing, but transmen means women who identify as men and therefore belong in the women's or mixed ponds.

And just to add - non binary has no status in the equality act - they are not within the pc of Gender Reassignment so only can access based on the pc of sex. Even gender reassignment is considered binary 🤣

the equality act applies because the ponds use the single sex exception to justify having separate facilities for men and women in the first place.

Once an organisation has used the EA single sex exception to make a single sex space or service, then they can then lawfully prevent access to those of the opposite sex with a pc of gender reassignment under paragraph 28

In other words according to the EA2010 it’s not discrimination against trans people to segregate everyone on the basis of sex

Does he know about the transman (woman) who, at her request, was admitted as an inpatient to a male psychiatric ward and was raped before her first cup of tea would have got cold? If he doesn't, please ask him. I suspect he'll come up with some sort of justification but I'm curious as to what.

Only if they go on referring to is as a "Women's" or if it is in their constitution or aims and objectives. Which presumably they could re-write.

I dont think there is the equivelent of say a building get a listed status so that it is maintained to look how it was originally built, that stops any group or charity changing their aims and objectives.

Is the Kenwood Ladies pond the same as the HH ladies pond.

The ridiculous thing is three ponds, one for men, one for women and one for everyone is the perfect ready made legally compliant solution. All it shows is that men don’t like being told no and want to use women to validate their feelings.
