They will no doubt be relying heavily on their 'survey' that showed 90% of biological women would happily be naked in a shower with a transwoman or some other such nonsense. I hope Sex Matters council are prepared to dismantle the methodolgy of the so called survey. However, this is entirely irrelevant, you can't opt out of the law with a vote.

So, let's just suppose that we had a survey and decided that 90% of Mumsnetters would like to slap a particular politician around the face with a smoked kipper until they started to tell the truth. Can we then say 'it's legal, we had a survey?' I do hope so...

(Please note, no harm comes to the smoked kipper. It's already dead.)

'Fight' would be daft - men are stronger.
'Flight' - ditto, they run faster.
'Freeze' - is an option, but it does mean they can accuse you of 'not playing along'.
'Fawn' - a more socially acceptable option that means one can pretend that there is no problem. Which actually can help to not escalate a situation. We've all been in those situations were everyone is pretending a man is not threatening or being creepy, right? The risk escalates sharply once risk is openly acknowledged.

Yes, but I'm picturing these big, strapping, middle class women alongside men who are not overtly threatening, just with a tangible sexual fetish for being in women's spaces? Maybe their desire to be perceived as liberal and progressive over-rides everything else?

Waste of a kipper though. How about if we used an old insole? Still got a fish connection.

Can’t see a kipper lasting long enough.

I'd be quite happy to use a chain mail gauntlet!

Can't say I can understand why a woman might fawn over a creepy guy who gives off weird, pervy vibes? Surely the instinctive response would be distance and caution?

I can only think of that the man is rich. Never having to worry about how to pay the next bill is something understandable.

Or power.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 27/04/2026 17:51

Hello hello hello fuck wits!!

you are proposing breaking the law

damelza · 27/04/2026 18:02

More money for the lawyers.

I wonder if women who have been to an all girls school, haven't seen misogyny at a seminal time in their social development

I went to an all girls school and found that misogyny still smacked me in the face all the time. School was a welcome respite from it

teawamutu · 27/04/2026 19:25

Off to court we go, then. I'm ready to dig.

Are they thick? Do they really not understand that they cannot legally exclude men who are happy to be men from the womens pond or women who are happy to be women from the men's pond of they allow trans people to use the wrong sex pond.

I feel the answer to this may be for women to use the mens pond and then take legal action under the Equality Act when they are removed and criminal action for assault if they are manhandled or of the area.

Of course, any girl who has been to an all girls school is still surrounded by all of the usual shit as soon as she steps out of the door.

Men used to loiter around our school yard and thrown pornographic magazines in....and masturbate in full view at break -time.

MyAmpleSheep · 27/04/2026 20:07

The BBC article refers now to “transwomen” and not “trans women”. This is the second recent article to do so.

Is this a change of policy, that being “trans” is no longer to be viewed as the same as being “blonde” or “tall”?

Small but significant win, or an accident of poor proofing?

SinnerBoy · 28/04/2026 14:01

They are using the incorrect, outdated Stonewall interpretation of the EA, according to them. Does that mean that they would complain, if run over by someone using the pre 1967 drink drive laws?

Can we all just claim to follow obsolete laws, now superseded, if the whim takes us?

Didn't you know that you only have to comply with laws you agree with? I decided that I don't have to pay for petrol anymore as it's too expensive so sure that Shell won't mind me filling up and driving off.

KnottyAuty · 28/04/2026 21:58

Why the resistance to change? Is it having to admit a mistake? Or are they true believers? What’s causing all these different organisations to blatantly ignore the rule of law? By just making shit up?

CassOle · 28/04/2026 22:04

True believers, I think.

moto748e · 28/04/2026 22:09

Doublethink.

Jellyjellyonaplate · 28/04/2026 23:36

I found it incredible the document which in one place says - what are the financial risks? and what are the legal risks? - and completely misses the legal and financial risk of being sued and losing because they are not following the law.

SinnerBoy · 29/04/2026 01:25

I'm rather tickled that the poster who agreed with my drink driving analogy was:

theinebriati!

RogueFemale · 13/05/2026 21:34

Because the BBC article linked above on 27th April said at the end

"A CLC spokesperson said: "All options have been informed by our recent public consultation, expert legal advice, equality impact assessments, safeguarding responsibilities, and operational requirements.
"As part of our formal governance process, the Hampstead Heath Consultative Committee, which brings together local stakeholder groups, will discuss the paper and provide feedback on 5 May .
"The report will then be put forward to Members of the Hampstead Heath, Highgate Wood and Queen's Park Committee at their public meeting on 12 May and Policy and Resources Committee on 4 June for decision, with feedback carried forward at each stage."
