Saw this article on the Mirror

I've seen Charlie's tik tok videos. So so surprised to see that this has happened to her of all people. Hoping it's a one off and that other tall women don't experience the same.

Glam 6ft5in model kicked out of women's toilets after being mistaken for a man

Glamorous 6ft 5in model Charlie Mill, 30, from Lincoln, has revealed the “humiliation” she faces due to her height, including being kicked out of women’s toilets after being mistaken for a man

I'm also very tall and have never once been mistaken for trans woman/man in a single sex space.
The fact that this only ever seems to happen to trans activists who have an agenda to push tells me everything I need to know.

Like many gender-non-conforming women, I've been 'challenged' as in
'Excuse me - this is the ladies'. An amiable 'yes I know thanks, I'm in the right place' has always sufficed - my voice and my manner and a second look have always been enough to reveal that I am a woman.

These stories are always about women being 'driven' or 'chased' or in this case 'kicked' out of the women's toilet [or 'bathroom' as this thread title has it] whereas in my experience it has been a firm but polite 'This is the ladies'. Not a pitchfork in sight.

Transwomen can get surgery to alter their voice.

Have you heard many of them? Uncanny Valley springs to mind, the results are somewhat like what they want but unlike enough to be unsettling.

To be fair a 6 foot 5 woman is pretty unusual. It's unusual for a man never mind a woman.

However I don't discount it's probably pretty horrible to be questioned, she's no doubt gone through a lot of shit in her life for being so tall.

She's taller than me but not much, I'm also thoroughly unfeminine in presentation. I do get challenged pretty often, it's been like that since I was a kid & I've never had any problem resolving the matter in a few moments. Obviously I'd prefer women to feel that they can challenge me rather than think they have to put up with what they suspect is a bloke where no bloke should be.

It takes more than just being tall for a woman to be mistaken for a man. Women have completely different body shapes and facial shapes than men. Even if she were extremely tall it would only take a second for someone who was really looking to figure out if something was off.

Many years ago I recall being in line for the loo at my local movie theater and seeing someone a few places in front of me that made me do a double take. He wasn't much taller than the other women and he was very trim and fit but something seemed weirdly off and I realized when I looked at his hips (he was wearing a very fitted dress). They were much narrower and tapered than a woman's more hourglass figure. This was long before trans ideology became so mainstream but it always stood out to me how even in a quick glance, even before I was cognizant of all this nonsense, even with someone who had a trimmer, smaller, more feminine frame, wearing makeup, hair done, etc, my mind and instinct immediately told me something was off about this person. Thanks to thousands of years of evolution - we just know. It's literally built into our DNA.

I'm glad that it seems to be rare. I've never experienced it, but I'm 5'1 so after reading this article I was worried this was happening to all tall girls.

It happens (I'm 1.85m) & it's a total nothingburger. All sorted in seconds. I'm afraid I don't believe Ms Mills but I'm sure this will play well in "Queer" circles & give a boost to her work as dominatrix specialising in servicing men with a "giantess fetish". (Such men are an especially slimy kind of creep, be glad you are spared them.)

aniloD · 16/12/2025 00:03

At £60k a month I think I could afford to avoid public toilets. She's just cashing in on free publicity.

I doubt it has happened-and if it has - then not more than once

And who's fault is this? If certain men hadn't been pushing boundaries . . .

I would probably say it’s fault of us as a society reverting back to such a strict gender binary that anyone who doesn’t appear to be obviously ‘male’ or ‘female’ (whatever that means) are automatically assumed to be different and, therefore, ‘dangerous’.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 01/01/2026 23:20

Yes, male and female obviously are totally meaningless terms and no one knows what a woman is 🙄 or alternatively men who know full well they are violating women’s boundaries could be encouraged to stay out?

selffellatingouroborosofhate · 01/01/2026 23:58

I note how the unanimous response of the women on this thread who are sometimes mistaken for men is that we'd all rather be often challenged than have a woman or girl be hurt by a man in the ladies'. It's as though our shared experiences of male intimidation and violence inform our values on this matter

It's not 'gender' binary, it's a SEX binary. And the fact is, we have female single-sex toilets and facilities because the male sex class on a whole, are dangerous. 98%-99% (depending on which country you get the stats from) of violence is from the male sex class. Domestic Violence, rape, will tell you how 'dangerous' men are. Ask rape survivors like me!
And, for privacy and safety, of course.

I also find it strange that society has flourish and reproduced for multi-millennia, had no problems discerning male from female, until 10-15 years ago, yet those like you are now saying we can't tell male from female. Funny that. Funny how it is only now, after multi-millennia, we 'can't tell'. How the fuck did our ancestors cope.

And yes, there is a there a difference between the male and female skeleton. Male skull and male jawbone, height, gait, lack of hips, limb length, hand and feet size, adams apple, square broad shoulders and finally voice. All of these 'tells' have been a part of society since the first male and first female were made. It's not a mystery how to tell the sexes apart. It is so fucking easy!

Yeah, it's a reeeaaallllll wonder why we say the male sex as 'dangerous'. A real, real wonder. Alternatively, you could go visit a rape crisis centre or a battered womens shelter and speak to them and perhaps get an education on this issue and disavow you of the 'the male sex is sweetness and light and non-dangerous' naive notion.

Well if men didn’t tell us that them wearing lipstick and a dress makes them a woman and entitled to invade female spaces….. maybe take it up with those men. Most people on here I think of are the persuasion that clothes do not maketh the woman, to paraphrase the old saying.

Oh my days. That'll learn me.

I hope that she is safe and able to find a way to a healthier and happier means of earning a living.

But do any of them get that surgery?

That's a really odd take. I don't know anyone who assumes "different" means "dangerous" (well, other than my granny and she died thirty years ago). Is that a common prejudice in your social group?

I do know many women who consider men (in the original sex based meanibg if the word) to be more dangerous to women than women are to men, and who consider the fact that men commit the overwhelming proportion of sexual assaults significant enough to justify female-only spaces.

And I know many women, myself included, consider men who believe the way they think makes them women to be acting out a sexist and reductive idea of womanhood, and that men who believe their need to be "a woman" justifies deceiving people as to their actual sex and/or appropriating women's resources and language to be showing themselves to be exactly the type of man women should be wary of - the type of man who thinks his needs and beliefs are important and real, and that women are secondary background people whose proper role in life is to faciliate him.

To be honest the whole gender identtity movement is the thing that is retrograde. Classifying whether someone is male or female based on their personality or preferences.. Exactly what the women's movement and the gay liberation movement fought against.

'Male' and 'female' are fixed biological categories, not personality types.

Gender Identity theory is rooted in confused thinking and has managed to confuse a whole lot of people.

“girls” repeatedly on FWR?

FFS.

PPAP · 02/01/2026 10:53

This is not womens fault for trying to protect themselves.

This is mens fault for making women be on edge about who is sharing their personal, intimate spaces.

PPAP · 02/01/2026 10:53

Absolutely. It's tone deaf, emotionally incompetent victim blaming based on a very naive attempt at 'ok if you care about women then you're upsetting women by not getting undressed with men!'

It assumes listeners aren't going to see through this, or that there's obviously no point in their claiming to care for this particular group of women and expecting to be believed when there's no care or interest at all in the women upset by men in their spaces, excluded by men in their spaces.

ArabellaSaurus · 02/01/2026 11:29

Men need to stay out of women's spaces. Yes, even if they have long hair and wear make up.

Now it's been made so clear by the SC judgment that transvestites and cross dressers don't have the right to use women's spaces, hopefully women will feel less wary and on edge.

TheHereticalOne · 02/01/2026 11:32

This sort of situation - should it ever arise - would be easily resolved had our institutions not spent the past decade or so deliberately and happily issuing official documents which contain false information about the sex of the holder.

A quick flash of the driving licence and all would be cleared up, with blushes and apologies.

But public trust in official documents (driving licence, passport, even birth certificates) has now been seriously undermined and can no longer be relied upon to contain the objective, unchanging truth.

Being unable to quickly resolve situations like this is the least of the entirely predictable consequences of that irresponsible, infantile decision.

Peachii · 02/01/2026 11:40

Im 6ft and never been challenged

I feel for women who have been accosted, but if men never started going in women’s toilets, nobody would be on high alert. It’s not fair that tall or masculine-presenting women should feel awkward going into their own toilet!

Yeah, transphobia is always someone else's fault

Don’t know if anyone read the story but I can’t see any reference to transwomen - just mistaken for a man. It’s funny when it comes down to reality even the most ardent supporters know the truth.
