Mine was conducted in quite a sprightly fashion too. Despite me feckin' up with the buses I got their early and was seen straight away. Done and dusted quite quickly. Only thing I didn't like was previously you went into a lickle cubicles to undress, then through a door into the scanning room. They'd dispensed with the cubicle and you get your kit off in the scanning room where the staff are. If I'd known that was going to happen i wouldn't have worn such a tatty bra!

I recommend Richard Burton doing 'Under Milk Wood'. It's both beguiling & soporific.

Hope you feel better soon.

That’d take me straight back to O level English lit. I’d probably doze and then dream I had to write an essay on what Dylan Thomas thought of women.

But some of the cadences of the language are indeed lovely. I might challenge myself how far I can remember the opening section later when I’m not supposed working.

And naps for all the poorly sisterhood definitely a good idea, however they’re achieved.

ErrolTheDragon · 11/12/2025 14:27

My fairly recent mammogram was very near the end of the day and was slightly late. I think this was attributable to them checking the contact details for everyone as they booked in (10 per hour, appointments 6 minutes apart). So for nearly all I heard it went
‘I’ve got your mobile number ending in xxx’ - yes
’and a landline ending in yyy’ - ‘no, I don’t have that any more’. <pause to delete from the database> …I blame BT for the resulting cumulative delay in the tightly scheduled system.

Well done on the mammo. My tips are: they're more comfy as you get older & your boobs head south for the winter, & comfort depends on the equipment used. Private ones all used plastic, rounded surfaces; NHS used metal, sharp-edged ones. Worst one ever: lovely practitioner but I'd just had stabby breast cancer tests done/biopsies taken, & I was in a daze from that & I bled all over the machine. Later ones haven't seemed so bad by comparison.

ETA: Well done Cake, too, & anyone else who's braved one recently. 🏆

Tiny cubicle to remove bra then walk to the room in my tshirt for me!

When she choked up a little, talking about her Dad, I got a bit tearful too. I hope she and her family have a lovely Christmas.

I held it together til she choked up at the end talking about her dad then I burst into tears.

Haven't seen the video yet, but just checked my phone getting out of the car and jumped up and down in my drive and punched the air. Yay! Go get 'em Sandie!

At least it wasn't Sainsbury's car park.

I'm a 70+ woman with dodgy knees Grin

BBC article

The judgement in the tribunal of a nurse suspended from her job in a row over trans women using single-sex changing rooms has been amended following complaints a quote used in it was "made up".

On the social media platform X, Ms Forstater posted a screenshot of the text from the tribunal and said: "One of the many things wrong with the Sandie Peggie judgement.
"This 'quote' from my judgement doesn't come from my judgement. It is completely made up."

Edit
The tribunal has now issued a "certificate of correction", external stating there had been "clerical mistake(s), error(s)or omissions(s)".

Drat, I was so interested to find this that I forgot to NC…

I wonder if the BBC will correct the ‘clerical error’ in this, from the same article:

“This followed an encounter between the two in the changing facilities on Christmas Eve 2023, where Ms Peggie told Dr Upton she did not feel comfortable about the doctor's presence there.
Equality act
She also referenced Isla Bryson - a rapist who changed gender while awaiting trial.”

No, she didn’t mention Isla Bryson. Sandie may have alluded to that person, but that’s not the same.
We hoped BBC was becoming less captured, but it seems not.

Does that mean no more pinky-orange bodily fluids?

I still have to finish the course. 33 more days, 4 weeks and 5 days, or 1 month and 2 days to go.

Decided against printing a handout. I'm too exhausted and need to get the speech right.

Think of it this way you're just using your December name (whoever you usually are!)

ETA sees next post...ahhh I see who you are now

I’ll put my name on my posts for a bit.

Heh, reeeeally?

Not just blatant carelessness coupled with ginormous blinkers?

(No, no, not Ginormous's blinkers, yours are still hanging up in the hall. Goodness knows what you use them for, I don't need to know, but I could do with the hot chocolate bowser, please.)

Surely not.

That is a bloody epic course.
You need a nice little chart where you cross off a square a day. They always look daunting at the start, but suddenly the empty squares start diminishing.

It's been seven weeks today and I was on IV antibiotics in hospital for two weeks before that.

Not that I'm counting.

You'd be more than halfway through a chart - cheat, and draw one up, and cross off all the days already done...

The last time I had antibiotics they played hell with my digestion. I hope you're okay in that department.

Yes but he's only corrected the Forstater quote, not the Lee vs Asher's Bakery or the very blatant omissions in his FWS quotes.

Anya Palmer on TWiX has a good analysis here: https://x.com/anyabike/status/1999094763652534672?s=20

Great idea @EdithStourton 👏

A little late now @MyrtleLion, but you could always stick a piece of chocolate on each square, then at least you'd have something else to look forward to each day.

This ad has been complained about on site stuff. I get the feeling it would be fine for some Bluey patrons. I called in at the village PO the other day & while queueing I noticed they have 'Country Life', 'Horse & Hound', a magazine about shotguns & FOUR tractor magazines, including one on vintage tractors. They know their clientele.
