@MyrtleLion You've done so much & you've done so well. Your powers of endurance are phenomenal, & you remain optimistic & loving. Would that there were more people like you in the world.

Sending you love & blessings. And gerbils.

Sticking my head in the door briefly, as I'm several pages behind. Sorry to hear lots of you are under the weather at the moment, especially Myrtle. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Sorry android but I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him. Acres and acres of bare flesh, eww, he needs a nice woolly knitted cardigan atop a substantial vest.

Your version needs a razor though.

They'll be here when you arrive tomorrow. 😉

I suppose they’re allowed if they’re working cf ‘Pete the Plumber’ but if you want a drink with them after, trot over to the Staunch Ally with them. (Being feminist allies, they are happy to socialise with women there except in their Shed. )

My best response, food related, is from Tunnock's. There was nothing wrong with their product, in fact I told them how wonderful they were.

I was a very happy beetle that day.

That’s an impressive stash, Boily. Thoughtful too, a bucket hat and rain poncho for all seasons. Or for use as camo gear on audacious Tunnocks Stash raids?

That's so lovely, thank you.

I had about 90 minutes sleep at 5am. The flu had exacerbated my asthma so I can't sleep lying down without coughing. I was on the recliner sofa last night so I could be more upright, but imwas.very uncomfortable. I tried lots of pillows on Tuesday night but that wasn't great either.

Having had about four hours sleep over two nights, I'm hoping I will be exhausted enough to sleep later so I can face the interview on Friday.

DeanElderberry · 11/12/2025 09:16

We don't need men at the Bluestocking, much as we may love and admire them in other circumstances.

Our fully trained and competent Capybara emergency services team can manage any inspections and the gerbil volunteers are ready willing and able to assist with rescues and responses.

Whether we want them or not.

I hear that there is a man-cave over at the Ally, full of broken machinery, non-functioning electronics, bits of wood that 'might come in handy', scattered spanners etc, half-empty drill-bit boxes and lots of testosterone.

And a couple of kegs of beer.

Android has said it, and pictured it, so well, Myrtle, I can only add that
I'm so sorry that you had such a miserable night, I can't explain why the Dream and Sleep Gerbils were so late in getting to you, 90 mins at 5am is unacceptable.😕

I hope you have a restful day today, and catch up a bit on sleep, and build up your strength for Friday's interview. We're all thinking of you and sending, as Android put it, 'love, blessings and gerbils'Flowers

RandomHypatia · 11/12/2025 10:39

Surely we have something similar in the Bluestocking garden shed, however our tools will all be well-maintained and organised tidily. And in duplicate (human sized for if we fancy a go and gerbil sized for when we leave it to them - although the capybaras might be a better size).

That's so tough on top of everything. Do you need to do preparation work today or can you just take it easy and doze?

RandomHypatia · 11/12/2025 10:42

I'm off sick today after spending all night coughing. Really want to sleep currently, but keep coughing. Going to try a boring audiobook.

DeanElderberry · 11/12/2025 11:48

Not being able to find a comfortable angle for sleeping is a pita. Left side, constant wheezing, right side, intermittent wheezing, on my back, just wrong (after the first three days when I passed out as though I'd been coshed). But I'm beginning to yawn, which is a good sign, my lungs are trying to get maximum oxygen.

And colour co-ordinated! 😁

Sorry the lurgy seems to have caught up with you too @RandomHypatia . Good thing you got the Christmas wrapping done yesterday.

Hope you feel better soon and also @MyrtleLion and @DeanElderberry and anyone else who is in the throes.

I have to finish the slide presentation and speech and practise and then get then to the printer. And the company published its latest impact report TODAY so I have just updated all of the slides i did yesterday. They'd better be impressed.

Hang in there, Myrtle. You're putting in so much effort despite being ill - so, yes, they really had better be impressed.

Very good luck (and gerbils) with it all - job application, illness, hurty paw, the lot.

There is some good news. I have been discharged from the outpatient antibiotics team, which means they are happy with progress and don't need to keep checking up on me.

Does that mean no more pinky-orange bodily fluids?

Don't worry, they know the rules. That's why they were all in the street.

Mind you, isn't there a Lux Inn somewhere?

I recommend Richard Burton doing 'Under Milk Wood'. It's both beguiling & soporific.

Hope you feel better soon.

I would like to commend the efficiency of my mammogram appointment today.

Arrived at 11.45 for 12.00 appointment was back out the door and on my way home by 11.55.

This is what happens why you have an entire unit run by women!

And thanks to Cake I remembered to not put any deodorant on.

Ours has one of those boards with the shape of each tool on. Along with a sign out sheet. Admittedly the bungee rope attached to each tool makes them difficult to use at times but It all makes it so much easier to ensure tools are returned.
