The sugar is stuck on a little lever over the special mug and soaked in a spirit. You dunk your sugar and extinguish the flame when you are ready according to how sweet and strong you like your mulled wine. Optional tackiness for them what likes it.

I have become a reindeer because the only thing in the fridge I want to eat is raw carrots.

Good job those guys were parked up outside the Bluestocking pub that was empty and locked up at the end of the last thread as the gerbils got a bit carried away trying to get the cute firemen's attention.

(No gerbils were harmed in the course of this joke. However Martin the fireman has got a booboo on his finger if someone could take him a plaster)

Just the flu, Marie, I arrived at home about midnight, felt a wee bit off the next morning but thought it might be all the short nights I had the days before, by the afternoon I had a temp of 38.6 C, was shivering and all my joints hurt, spent all the days I had planned to see family and friends in bed. At least two of my colleagues who were at the same meeting fell ill at the same time and with the same symptoms, I have now heard. One of them (in the US) was tested and confirmed as flu A.

Evening all. I'm another probably-flu victim. I was vaxxed, but so many of us have come down with this (as nasty as anything I've had for decades) that I think it's an evil mutant. I actually managed to eat a dinner-sized dinner this evening for the first time in 5 days, so hope I'm on my way to recovery. Still repulsed by the idea of alcohol, which is very very very annoying, having gone dry for November.

Main sustenance for the last few days was those little plastic tubs of fruit cocktail.

I read bits of the last thread, but decided I was too stupid to post.

I did manage to play the Chronophoto game each day. And sleep, with interludes of coughing and wheezing, for 10-12 hours a night.

Don't catch it, if you have a choice.

I could not eat at all. I was hungry but I simply couldn't eat anything no matter what my sister suggested. I'm on fruit and some yogurt today and might actually eat a slice of bread soon. I'll be back to mostly normal tomorrow, I hope.

I’m thinking about popping to the secret fishermen’s pub again shortly. I’ve been working the last two days so haven’t left this house apart from walking the dog. I’m off work tomorrow. When I went last Saturday, I was told some night fishermen come in late on and weigh their catches just outside the door. It can be quick weigh-in though if pickings are slim. Thought it might give a nice glimpse into this community. So, if I’m not in the BS it’s because I’ve taken a brave leap and gone to the secret fishermen. 💙

It's worrying that you got the flu although you're vaxxed, Deano - once I get my jab I feel 100% protected, though I suppose nothing is 100%. And you are living [or should that be 'living', poor you!] proof.

What’s this about? It’s hard to join a thread when everything is cryptic!

It's a pub for women. We have a range of animals to help us, mostly gerbils in a hospitality capacity, but also practical capybara, cuddly Rosie the red panda, goats, small pigs, Spartipuss the cat and Colin the dachshund.

We talk about real and not so real life. We support one another. We welcome newcomers.

Cryptic! As if!

Just nod three times at the capybaras sitting by the grand piano, do two foot taps with your left foot. Drink the large brandy that is delivered to you by a gerbil and eat the special brownie that the second gerbil is holding.

Sit quietly for ten minutes until the full effect of the large quantity of hallucinogenic drugs you've just consumed takes effect and you see the ghost of the giant wombat.

Then everything will make perfect sense.
