Do it! We've been resisting for years and got one in a black Friday deal this year. We now have cute dragons and tiny death stars to hang on our Christmas tree in three different colours. Currently debating whether to do blue or green next time (we can only print one colour at a time with ours).

Sorry, ignore that. You've been trying to declutter, haven't you

Boily has been decluttering all year. A 3-D printer would speedily use up any space created by the noble art of decluttering, and also it would use up any space in Beetle's head that she needed for making bacon sandwiches or for tidying up her crocs collection!

Stop spying on me through my home security cameras. As you can see it's taking me a good few goes to get the hang of it!

I didn't intend to be evil and corrupting, however you can 3d print boxes to help. organise things.

RandomHypatia · 12/12/2025 00:02

More seriously though, be careful about fumes depending on what type you go for - in case anyone is actually considering one

ifIwerenotanandroid · 12/12/2025 00:07

Want want want want want!

Maybe someone could make a life-size version that you could have sitting at the Christmas table. That green dress would go nicely with my table colour scheme this year.

Hmm I think there's been some shenanigans at the printers there and a few surprise gerbil posters have been slipped into some copies...

Don't worry it's still sat in the basket. More as a reminder I must look at them in more detail!

Oh, good!

The trouble is, a 3-D printer is an amazing toy. Before you knew it, 1001 tiny plastic items would be piled up on your carpet whilst you gazed adoringly into the innards of the printer, wooed by its innocent charm and fascinating workings. A 3-D printer represents 100 rabbit holes all at once!

That's why I am not going to get one. Because I am very slow, it would take me a really long time to explore each rabbit hole, which I would do thoroughly, almost suffocating in the output from the 3-D printer, forgetting to wash, forgetting to sleep, not knowing whether it was night or day. I would be a ruined sloth.

When the zombie apocalypse comes I'll use the never used barbeque bin that my mum bought in case we got nuked (so 1960s? Definitely predates me so before 1972) and burn all my books. The various different copies of full sets of Encyclopedia Britannica should keep me going a good while.

We have neighbours who cook, heat etc entirely using wood. They have the right connections to get it cheap.

We also have a friend who makes his own ammo.

I know the sort of people I want to be near when it all caves in...

ErrolTheDragon · 12/12/2025 08:49

Morning all.
Brew and sympathy for all who are poorly or heavy of heart.

Love the poster.
New Holland should use it in their next advertising campaign.

It would look tremendous pinned to the wall of the farm suppliers.

It’s the first line of “I am a Rock,” but it seemed appropriate. Simon and Garfunkel songs provide me with a useful source of new names.

I have yet to include the phrase “on a freshly fallen silent shroud of snow” into conversation, but one day…

Something similar might provide a soft landing the next time we need to steal discreetly remove helpfully empty the Tunnocks storeroom(s) for Boily at our next removal.

AsWithGladys.

Gosh, these threads keep sending me down rabbit holes of nostalgia. I was a great fan of Simon and Garfunkel in my "yoof" and still love their songs. I lived in South Lancashire (now Merseyside) for a while and remember making a pilgrimage to Widnes Railway Station, where Paul Simon wrote Homeward Bound, whilst "on a tour of one-night stands" around England in 1965/66. He had been playing at the local folk club, where he also gave the first live performance of Sound of Silence. When I visited, there was a plaque on the wall commemorating the event. It was the third of its kind, the first two having been stolen by fans! I always wished I had been at that performance - although it would have been a school night and I lived 100 miles away at the time😁 Sound of Silence is still my favourite.

Hoping all those banjaxed by the lurgy are on the road to recovery 🤗

I have a suspicion that the capybaras played a part in the poster shenanigans.

It is hard to get too cross with them when they're so cute and being so serious about their VERY IMPORTANT PHOTO SHOOT😍

MyrtleLion · 12/12/2025 09:42

AuntieMsDamsonCrumble · 11/12/2025 16:49

Great idea @EdithStourton 👏

A little late now @MyrtleLion, but you could always stick a piece of chocolate on each square, then at least you'd have something else to look forward to each day.

I have a Candy Kittens advent calendar. Will that do?

Aren't you worried they will send you away, or worse, keep you as slaves?

MyrtleLion · 12/12/2025 09:42

No. Candy Kittens are hard and lacking in flavour, in my opinion, as gelatine-free jelly- like sweets can be. I recommend Rowntree’s fruit gums and pastilles.

You need a treat each day. Dark chocolate 🍫 can be a treat, although it is also good for you if you stick to two squares a day. I am still searching for the brand which breaks into the biggest squares.

Fingers crossed for today.

Chersfrozenface · 12/12/2025 10:18

I am still searching for the brand which breaks into the biggest squares.

That's research I could really get into.

Good luck to @MyrtleLiontoday, get well soon to all lurgy sufferers and sympathy to those facing difficult situations.
