waaaah the poor trans and NB ppl MH. What about women's mental health?? Couldn't give a fuck about that could you?

the mental health of many women had been shaken to its foundation by the fact that ppl like doctors, academics, charity CEO seriously regard womenhood as a costume men can pop on and that women wanting their own spaces and places is sad, evil and bigoted. We had no idea just how very vey unimportant they thought we were

you should be looking hard at yourselves for encouraging ppl in their delusions about wrong bodies/ changing sex and letting ppl think that everyone else would affirm them. It's not other pols job to affirm people's fantasy beliefs about themselves

just fuck off the lot of you!!

Rules on single-sex spaces pose risk to trans people’s mental health, UK charities say

Fifteen organisations sign letter expressing deep concern over EHRC guidance being considered by ministers

Everything is a risk to your mental health when every interaction you have with society depends on them agreeing to participate in a charade.

GarlicRound · 08/12/2025 08:01

How many single-sex mental health services are there? I read the article twice but, apart from a bunch of poor trans people, they're so marginalised, etc, etc, etc, didn't get much of a clue as to what services they need to muscle in on now.

ETA: Oh, I've just realised! This is about the drive to make in-patient psychiatric wards single sex, isn't it.

How bloody dare they. Women get raped on MH wards, which must be fantastic for their recovery 😡

Theeyeballsinthesky · 08/12/2025 08:08

I'm just so sick of this shit! The endless whining of the lanyardocracy (of which I'm sadly in a part) that they can't comply with the law when they managed it perfectly well before. Any other laws they find it sooooo hard to comply with or is it only the ones benefiting women they hate?

the trouble is, philipson has far far more interactions with the lanyard class then she ever does with normal women. The endless pressure from the privileged is relentless!

Dept of Health guidance allows self ID in hospitals. It’s not in line with the Supreme Court ruling, and needs urgent updating.

But currently, the official guidance says that a trans person should be given a bed on the ward of the sex they identify with. And that this doesn’t breach the single sex wards target, it’s officially an “allowed breach” and doesn’t show up in the statistics. So the statistics show the wards are single sex. But they’re not.

I think the letter writers want to keep things as they are now.

This.

I saw it with my own eyes back when I was in the community. So many transwomen (and it was almost always transwomen, almost never transmen, in my personal experience, though that may have changed since) took everything and anything as transphobia. The smallest incident was blown-up to assault proportions. They were constantly on the defensive, looking for opportunities to get hurt. You can't have a good mental health when you live like that, but the solution is to learn to control your paranoia, not to demand that the entire world coddles you 24/7!

RedToothBrush · 08/12/2025 08:18

They aren't even trying to hide this is a cost saving exercise.

Women with mental health issues are especially vulnerable and much more likely to have a history of abuse than other women as a result.

Males with mental health issues are more likely to pose some sort of risk or act in a way that frightens women suffering from mental health issues.

The two don't mix.

Anyone who has worked with mental health patients should have a good understanding of this. It's not rocket science.

They just don't give a shit about women.

More over women's mental health issues can often be linked to hormonal issues, so the non-binaries and those women claiming to be men are taking part and demonstrating self harm and avoidant behaviour in identifying as the opposite sex which suggests they need a specialist service away from males but not necessarily with other females. A bit like an anorexic unit if you will.

People in this area suggesting anything different are not serving their patients needs because they are more interested in virtue signalling.

This is the level of damage done by this ideology.

ItsCoolForCats · 08/12/2025 08:21

This is no surprise at all because third sector orgs are completely captured. Where is their concern for the mental health of the women who have had to take legal action? Women like Maria Kelly and Sarah Summers? Or vulnerable women who have had to share what are supposed to be women-only psychiatric wards with men?

And that is quite a selective quote they have chosen from Baroness Faulkner. I wonder why they didn't quote any of the many other things she has said about this?

That is exactly the core of the problem, and why everyone is reduced to treading on eggshells around trans identified people.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 08/12/2025 08:46

They're complaining because a subset of men aren't going to get 24/7 unfettered access to women suffering from mental health crises. It's like a nightmare. Evil is the only word for it.

magentafox · 08/12/2025 08:53

Yes just popping in to agree. It is exhausting to keep having to say "we are 50% of the population, is anyone ever going to give a single sex fuck about us?"

Supersimkin7 · 08/12/2025 08:54

It’s difficult for TRA now they can’t auto-threaten suicide.

OpheliaWitchoftheWoods · 08/12/2025 09:02

FFS.

If they cared actually about everyone's mental health they would provide women only facilities and resources AND whatever trans-friendly ones that they needed, which could be gender neutral, or LGBT or however designating them would best fit the needs of the population.

But they are whinging about no longer being able to compel, coerce and force women into mixed sex provisions, including the distressed and non consenting ones, and excluding the women who won't or can't in punishment for not being good little cannon fodder for the all important men.

Again: women's service leaders and organisers whose main interest in running women's facilities and resources is in getting the men in there and using those women to that purpose, with no interest or care in real, actual women at all.

The activists need to get out of women's services now. They are deeply unhappy there, they don't like women and have no interest in them, they can now go run the services for the people they DO care about and let women's services recruit people who see women as actually human instead of resources for males. But this is a tantrum about not being able to force their belief system, it has nothing to do with actual care for anyone's mental health. That's mere leverage and PR.

OpheliaWitchoftheWoods · 08/12/2025 09:16

The one remaining huge problem coming down the tracks at the current govt and whoever comes next if they don't get a grip:

while the activists absolutely should come out of women's services, since their interest in a women's service is capture, control and redirection to serve gender ideology, it's an enemy to be conquered rather than valued for the women and the needs of that group - and women deserve so much better than that -

this will end up with a gender neutral/whatever designated service staffed by people who openly loathe and deride the women's service and staff, and see it as the enemy. It is going to fuel polarisation and antagonism between the two groups.

And that will be because no one in the establishment or leadership of these groups is either capable of objectivity, balance and basic sense, or is themselves an activist believing in a political ideology that involves being actively prejudiced towards women and women's resources, or just does not dare to say anything.

When statements like these come up, the grown ups - if any left - need to be saying loudly and clearly, women have rights and needs too, and these are going to be respected, there is room for all beliefs and needs alongside each other. There needs to be some balancing training - compulsory - on women's needs, rights and own identity to start taking up space after years of training that gender ideology was the One True Way. This rushing to pat and soothe the TQ+ activist lobby's expressed feelings regardless of reality, sense, correcting misinformation and misperception, and effectively validating it wholesale and taking sides - just reinforces the prejudice and rage and it makes this all worse. It is the coward's way out and it's easy to see what it will inevitably lead to.

Remember.

Women who have been sectioned CAN NOT legal consent.

I was horrified to the point of feeling physically nauseous when my nephew - a final year medical student - related his recent experiences on a locked mental health facility in England to me.

There was a mixed sex communal lounge area. When my student nephew attended debriefings with the senior medics, the (male) medical staff were discussing their concerns and great disapproval of a young suicidal woman patient’s preference for staying in her room rather than eating and interacting with the (majority male) other patients in the communal area.

My nephew who is over six foot and well built, but a gentle kind soul, told me that he was tbh terrified of a number of the men himself and the aggressive and sexual tone of their conversation left him feeling intimidated.

When he tried to bring this up and explain that surely it was natural for a young woman to find the surroundings threatening or oppressive, he was looked at blankly and told that the lounge was a pleasant environment and that the girl had to mix. One doctor even said that it was essential the women were in the lounge as they could be a civilising distraction for the male patients. Terrifying.

And there it is. We are just support humans. We have no needs or desires or wants or rights of our own.

It is terrifying isn’t it? As though any woman could recover good mental health when living in such a threatening environment.

That’s awful, that poor girl.

Supersimkin7 · 08/12/2025 09:49

MRA will honk away for ages - that’s what they do.

Picking an id of aggressor in a flippy skirt who acts the victim is irresistible. So many ways to be interesting, so many chances to be special. All you do is victim wailing as loud as poss & you’ll get preferential treatment that hurts others. Like those cow-critters no one likes, women.

They won’t stop. Lots of mileage in vulnerable narcissism.

Not a problem. Next step will be rejecting all loo solutions offered, circle back to doping kids and, in ever increasing rage, wait for the next identity fashion.

TheNightingalesStarling · 08/12/2025 09:51

I have no doubt that many children's and young people's mental health has taken a battering this week.... due to the lies told to them by the adults claiming to help them about how everyone else "hates" them.

BlueandWhitePorcelain · 08/12/2025 10:00

DD was a voluntary patient in a locked inpatient MH mixed ward. She was frightened of one of the men, a new patient, who verbally had been quite nasty to her. She asked the staff if he was safe to be around. They assured he was, but he was very unwell. A few weeks later, he attacked another woman, one of her friends. They were both put on 1:1 staffing after that.

Later, she was in another mixed ward elsewhere. We could visit her on the ward there. A man walked round the lounge all day, holding a speaker connected to his phone, blasting out heavy metal; while he went round shouting four letter words about other people all day. We couldn’t hear ourselves think, talking to DD. Three women patients found this intimidating. The staff never asked him to keep it down to DD’s knowledge. One day, DD was very distressed and crying on the floor in a corridor. The staff asked her to keep it down, as she was disturbing the other patients! None of the staff bothered to try talking to her, to give her some support in her distress.

I suspect they made their own lives easier, because they didn’t want to tell a stocky man what to do, but found it easy with a skinny young woman!

It’s funny how men’s rights count for more than women’s on a mixed ward!

It’s been spoken about on here before but a woman spoke at the LWS outside the BBC about the woman who was paranoid and fearful of men on the MH ward.

Thats horrific. I don’t understand these women at all. I can tell you that an acquaintance who is a lawyer working for the NHS defending claims says that she would rather be dead than an inmate on a locked mental health ward in the U.K.
