A transgender woman has been jailed for harassing Rachel Reeves’s sister with a series of emails and phone calls.

Tracey Smith sent a “barrage” of 22 emails and 10 voicemails accusing Ellie Reeves of being “transphobic” and “fascist”.

Imprisoned where?

What happened to " most vulnerable and shouldn't be sent to gaol", as we've seen in so many other cases of, arguably, much more serious offences? Still on the two tier system for certain people?

I can’t find that info.

This is interesting. Using the courts to harass seems to have become a tactic increasingly used by trans activists. Good to see a Judge calling out this behaviour.

Smith had also persuaded a county court to issue a witness summons to Ms Reeves, which the MP was able to avoid only with the help of lawyers for the Speaker of the House.

District Judge Snow said: “I am appalled if this be the case that the civil courts are so poorly organised that they do not address the issue of whether a witness has material evidence to give and consider whether the purpose of obtaining a witness summons is to harass.”

Does anyone know if the sentencing remarks are published? I can't find them, but may be looking in the wrong place!

I can only find what has been published in the media. There's a number of reports (Guardian, Telegraph, Independent, ES, Reading Chronicle) but strangely nothing on The BBC (unless I've missed it). I wonder why that might be?

I can’t see nothing there either - it’s odd because they are covering some other cases more accurately now.

The Guardian and Independent are reporting it as a woman harassed Ellie Reeves. Ffs!

The opening to the Telegraph article is a bit misleading, seeming to suggest that you can go to prison for calling an MP a fascist in a few emails. (I think prison overcrowding would be a lot worse if that was the case!) The crucial factors in the judgement, I would imagine, are the threatening language, the false accusation by implication, and the abuse of the court system.

Ellie Reeves was my MP and quite pro-trans at the time in her emails to me. I wonder what happened.

I guess the government have moved away from “trans rights” in some ways. U turn on self ID, banning puberty blockers, saying that they accept the FWS supreme court decision. All of this will be red rag to an unhinged person.

that wouldn’t necessarily protect her from this sort of bloke.

Local newspapers all under the same umbrella (Reach) these days and they'll buy stories that earn clicks, even if they are out of area

It's not new. One of DH's Victorian ancestors was a prolific but petty burglar, but only in a small area. If I search him on an old newspaper site the same articles about him pop up from various papers all over the country.

Lying bastards. I used to like them both, but wouldn’t believe a word they published now.

LeftieRightsHoarder · 29/11/2025 17:29

I’m sorry for the victims, and life has taken a strange turn now that the BBC, Guardian and Indie can’t be trusted any more.

But I have to laugh. Keep it up, lads. Every one of you who makes headlines with your woman-hating aggression helps another crowd of ordinary people see what you really are.

You can never be protrans enough. The demands for language, deference, and active affirmation are bottomless and not even consistent with each other. In fact once you fall into the TRA orbit you make yourself vulnerable to being a target of antipathy based on nothing more than misunderstanding.
