BBC Scotcast have released a long interview with Naomi Cunningham talking about Sandie Peggie's case and other issues.

They've also posted an article on the Scotland section of the BBC website about the interview.

Watching the Scotcast on BBC Scotland, it's fabulous.

SexRealismBeliefs · 27/11/2025 23:28

She’s funny - he asks about settlement and she says yes it’s possible if they totally capitulate.

Resistance is futile. Submission is inevitable. Capitulation is compulsory.

ProfessorBinturong · 27/11/2025 23:35

She looked so sad when mentioning the 'old friend'.

GreenUp · 28/11/2025 03:36

The video of the interview has been uploaded to BBC iplayer now.

Oh she is wonderful. I’m watching it now. I like this interviewer. His job is to ask the other side and do make it uncomfortable sometimes. But he’s not being jabby so far, not talking over her and arguing, giving her space to respond. I like him. He’s only seemed irritated so far at not landing an interview with JKR which felt to me more like frustration at not landing a professional scoop than anything.

Naomi is just amazing. Makes me regret not using my law degree!! 🙈

hmmmmm..... there is my post-school run plan for today!

I can't wait for the judgement. Go Sandie!

He may be frustrated, but it's absolutely nothing to do with Naomi. He can be frustrated on his own time.

ProfessorBinturong · 28/11/2025 07:53

It's part of the whole 'men are individuals; women are a homogeneous block' strand of sexism.

If he were interviewing Kier Starmer would he have a go at Kier for not being able to get an interview with David Tennant?

JustAn0therUsername · 28/11/2025 07:59

I agree @ProfessorBinturong that was his biggest misstep. The positive is that Naomi handled it with perfect aplomb and showed herself to be much better at the game than he is!

JKR being inserted into everything is frustrating. But as you excellently point out, it’s just another type of misogyny.

AMansAManForAllThat · 28/11/2025 08:01

Oooh, something to watch on a coffee break!

ProfessorScorchedTerf · 28/11/2025 08:08

not sure if I'm allowed to cut and paste from Reddit , so I'll paraphrase a long paragraph about the mistake of Helen W doung interviews ' that taking truth and facts about medicine and science to a culture war is a losing proposition '
Also I listened to Naomi's interview , it was a delight . Clear , factual and intelligent

EweProfessorSurnameDoctorProfessor · 28/11/2025 08:11

She is so good and clear. It was irritating with all the interjecting that some people might find this offensive, similar to how they handled it on women’s hour.

Quick, get the smelling salts - she’s referred to a man as ‘he’!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/11/2025 08:13

Watched this earlier - excellent interview.

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 28/11/2025 08:56

I want to watch this but we don't have a tv license as we haven't had a tv for many years. Shall I go ahead and watch it or just listen to the recording?

Edited

The recording is the full interview. The TV programme is an edited version, but you do get to actually see NC in action

I'll do both then.

I've got stinking cold this week and have the intellect of a mollusc so thought I'd ask.

How can I watch it from outside the UK? Every link leads to a 404 error message or a message that it’s unavailable outside the UK. Is there a YouTube channel maybe? I’m in Australia.

Sorry, no idea
I don't think you can watch iPlayer outside of the UK?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/11/2025 09:29

You can with a good vpn, as I did this morning.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/11/2025 09:30

Set the vpn to the U.K. and you should be fine.

Any suggestions for a good VPN, preferably free?

The BBC must be shitting itself after the doctored Trump footage fallout to be posting that on their website.

Pretty much what I thought...

Brefugee · 28/11/2025 10:43

I use NordVPN (expensive but maybe they do a free trial?)
