Thank you @GreenUp really good interview, - Naomi is so great.

Brefugee · 27/11/2025 20:56

I saw on twitter that this came with a content/trigger warning. Because GC. But trans broadcasts never get that.

Perhaps we all need to complain about that? (i can't listen until the weekend)

Thanks OP.

Quote from the BBC Scotland website article:
She [Sandie] claimed that having to get changed beside her transgender colleague Dr Beth Upton - a biological male who identifies as a woman - amounted to unlawful harassment under the Equality Act.

Did I just read that description on the BBC website? Oh.My.God.😮

They’ve been using that phrase on the Darlington story since late October, about a week before the Prescott memo broke.

OnAShooglyPeg · 27/11/2025 21:13

I was just on Trans Reddit to read the Helen Webberley thread and noticed there's one about this interview as well. It hasn't quite reached the normal state of hysterical outrage that I have come to expect from them. Perhaps it is still too early.

Me too. All signs point to it.

And it will be good.

Edited

Can it be Monday please as I’m off then.

Harassedevictee · 27/11/2025 21:19

@GreenUp Thank you for the link. An excellent interview. The interviewer asked challenging questions and it gave Naomi a platform to answer clearly and to explain her position.

My money is on the judgement coming tomorrow

ok I did say that last week

I so hope you are right, but my understanding is that when parties have the judgment, they stop doing media commentary because they must not misrepresent or leak its contents, so I'm not convinced.

Here's hoping you are right and I am not, though🙂

To be fair this is all conjecture & it might be next month - but I’m just so hopeful for a good result for Sandie.

Well that’s a fair point too.

I'm not quite sure why the interviewer was so irritated and almost blaming NC for JKR ignoring their interview requests. NC isn't responsible for JKR!

You’ve reminded of something else that annoyed me. The host is completely unaware of the Free Media podcast seriesThe Witch Trials of J K Rowling. JKR has spoken to a media, at length, about her position. The man’s an ignoramus. Do better!

Me too, I’m hoping for a merry Christmas for Sandie and her team.

LikeAHandleInTheWind · 27/11/2025 21:49

Can I please be the first to point out that 'A man's a man for a that' would be a great headline for this case if SP wins

(apologies if that's already been said on a previous thread)

Many thanks OP - that was a storming interview. What a woman!

junipery · 27/11/2025 22:56

Thanks for sharing OP. I know he has to push back but JKR isn’t a politician or any kind of official in public life. Why should she have to account for what she tweets?

Also I am so fed up of the “do you know any trans people?” question, with the implication that if you did you wouldn’t hold the views that you do.

Apart from that it was a great programme. Naomi was so considered in what she said.

ProudWomanXX · 27/11/2025 23:01

Watching now on BBC Scotland. Scotcast.

BungledBundle · 27/11/2025 23:01

Great interview - listened to half of it so far; need to go to bed! Re timing of the judgment, I noticed (having read this thread first) that NC does quite a lot of 'zooming out' and answering in the general rather than specific to the Sandie Peggie case, so maybe it could be sooner?

Also re the BBC's change of tone, it made me smile that in the pic on the Sounds page, they refer to "Sandie Peggie (pictured)" as didn't they do quite a lot of dodgy picture placement of SP whilst talking about BU to muddy the waters during the trial?! Being very careful now, I think.

Mollyollydolly · 27/11/2025 23:06

Watching now on BBC Scotland, she's so good. Wonderful to see on BBC despite the bloody trigger warning. She's not Adolf bloody Hitler.

ProudWomanXX · 27/11/2025 23:10

Watching this is absolutely fucking wonderful!
Naomi calling it a Cult! Just fucking fabulous, and true.

They’ve been using that phrase on the Darlington story since late October, about a week before the Prescott memo broke.

Also was used from July in the BBC Scotland news broadcast coverage of Sandie Peggie’s tribunal. The Today programme has been using it since before that too.

Lovely big smile from Naomi when he raised bit about being friendly with Jane Russell!
