I have just gardened. I think the problem for me is Christian concern. I don’t agree with their views. I do absolutely stand for the Darlington nurses, Sandie peggie and Sara Morrison. And all the others. I think others have same concern. I know the money doesn’t go to them and that they have supported this cause which is good. But end of the process of gardening implies support of them.

They are one third of the way to their target. I've donated/pledged) as its important to me to give support to these brave women. I'm not a christian, I present my response to these doubts as 'how would I respond if the Darlington nurses came to me with a collecting tin?'

Christian concern are against homosexuality. When you get to the end of the gardening process there are messages implying you are in support of Christian concern which I am not. Sexual identity is nothing to do with gender identity. Sexual identity is valid and is not hurting anyone but gender identity is made up and wrong.

I still believe we have to support the Darlington nurses. I am just trying to say why there maybe not the support for this fund raiser as there might have been.

You've said this a couple of times but I don't understand what you mean - can you explain 'end of the gardening process' and what messages you're talking about?

Maybe garden yourself and see.

Namechanged999999 · 24/11/2025 20:52

do you want me to garden again and capture some screenshots for you? Maybe go in and send 10 quid and see for yourself? You have obviously not gardened.

ProfessorBinturong · 24/11/2025 20:57

Ah, you mean there's some sort of 'thank you for supporting' message after you donate?

I have gardened, but don't pay attention to boilerplate text. Certainly not enough to call it to mind when people make deeply oblique reference. We know where the cash goes, I don't care who signs the thank you card.

whatever. I’m sure someone here will go in and garden. Possibly for a second time and capture the screenshots. I was uncomfortable.. maybe you weren’t. But my point is many people will be.

And I am absolutely against gender ideology and absolutely for all of these cases.

Surely you look into the thing you're giving money to before you give it, so I fail to see why a message after donating would be offputting.

Still, the main thing is we all seem to have thrown something into the pot, so that's good.

The message, a long one, is there before contributing and I had to overcome my revulsion at what I was nominally signing up to - but I did contribute for aforesaid reasons.

There are two separate sites, ChristianConcern, which has a short christian statement prefacing its general donation page, & Crowdfunder, which has a short sentence sayng christian ministry helping with transgender-related legal cases, also it does have a comments box, which many donors have used to say things like praying for success etc, but thats it, I didnt see anything to raise my atheist hackles, which tend to react to in my face type evangelising.

At the same time though, they stepped up for the nurses when no one else would.

I know.
i am trying to say why people are not getting behind this. Not funding it the way it deserves. Anyway, if no one can understand what I am saying I am out.

Bye. If no one can read or understand anything then what hope do we have.

I'd have been useless - rolling around and unable to utter a word, never mind sing!

Lots and lots of rehearsal.

Which they would do anyway.

PachacutisBadAuntie · 24/11/2025 22:32

I'm sure this was all discussed several pages (if not threads) ago. I understood that donations go via crowd justice to pay the legal team, rather than Christian Concern. Some people will be fine with that and donate, some people will not be comfortable with it and decide not to. Both those things are fine.

I agree with you, FWIW.

moto748e · 24/11/2025 22:41

What is scandalous, although sadly unsurprising, is the dismal lack of support (and worse) shown by the union. If unions can't back their members in cases like this, what's the point of them?
