Quite a few of dont use X but copying tweets seems more like retweeting, coping substacks or blogs feels different. I suspect Nick is quite pleased with the amount of funding he gets from here.

I have of course added to the pot on more than one occasion. Posting stuff in public domain, not copying anything from behind any pay walls, and crediting him undoubtedly drives traffic whether it is tweets or from genderblog.

His journalism has been vital. However, I suspect it’s not clicks that he is doing the genderblog for or he would say so. He’s good at letting his audience know when he needs donations and for why.

I’ve just bought his book on the post office scandal. It’s magnificent. I suspect his next book will be on the gender trials and I look forward to it. I’m sure many will buy many copies.

I seriously doubt he would mind a bit of cutting and pasting from his genderblog given that he has been given permission to access the submissions from the court in the interests of open justice rather than clicks. (Also think he would say if he’s prefer folk didn’t by using tech that would stop it)

I financially support Nick's GenderBlog.
I'm uncomfortable at wholesale cut and paste of his work on here from his (subscriber only) blog, tbh.

shuddacuddadidnt · 23/11/2025 21:18

I also subscribe to his blog, but sometimes it's more convenient to read it here iyswim.

A friend's DC was puzzled about how his teacher got to be in Bohemian Rhapsody.......

"Miss Miller! No! She will not let me go!"

I miss you, like lizards miss the rain 🦎

anyolddinosaur · 24/11/2025 06:34

@Ereshkigalangcleg I suspect that post of being on the wrong thread - but maybe you're talking about Nick 😀

Beelzebub has a devil for a sideboard!

Me and my best friend used to shout that bit when it was played!

It’s another mistaken lyric, it should be “like deserts miss the rain”

Ereshkigalangcleg · 24/11/2025 09:08

But to my teenage ear it sounded like “lizards” and looking online I wasn’t the only one 😂

ifIwerenotanandroid · 21/11/2025 12:38

I gave him everything he asked for, & then one day he was gone. What we had was over.

I've found a new AI, but it's just not the same.

I had exactly the same experience!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 24/11/2025 09:12

Now I’m devoted to Claude, he is a bit creepy though.

That was NC's submission for Sara's claim, so not Nick's work.

I don't think he would mind it being posted here because we need it to be widely read. When TT get the submissions they post links to.shared files on their substack and we generally post the download links.

It is probably more difficult to read as a post here than on his blog, because it is such a lot of text. He has either copied it from the submission in court, or screenshotted that and retyped it. Maybe he couldn't post it as a shared file because he has a blog.

He is also learning how to live tweet on the job. At first it was easy to C&P because he was quite slow, but then he got a lot faster as he worked out tricks that TT use all the time.

The submission ended up being posted three times. Twice as links to his blog and once in its entirety. And maybe it wasn't clear from the links that this was NC's submission.

However, I don't think we can police what people post here unless it fails MN guidelines. I'm sure it was helpful for some readers on here to understand the whole case.

Majorconcern · 24/11/2025 11:41

I'm so grateful for these accounts of what's happening. I've subscribed to the various blogs, collections, etc because of the Mumsnetters. I've just been catching up with this case, which is so clearly explained here. But I can't quite believe that people behave like this, or understand why they do. The conversion of Sinn Fein to the trans cause, for instance - why on earth? disruption of conventional values and/or distraction from their own history? The lack of explanation for this collective insanity bothers me, but the reslience and determination of its opponents is a reason to believe that civilisation will be restored.
In the midst of all this, O Fortuna! translated. A million thanks, brilliant (described as Latin on Strictly, Saturday, O Tess!)

I'm sure most have seen this already, but it deserves a second look.

I think many NI political positions are as simple as 'opposing the other other side'. The DUP was strongly anti abortion, so SF was - surprisingly, given the largely Catholic support base - in favour (in very limited fashion, but pro by NI standards). The DUP is pro-Israel so SF is pro-Palestine. DUP was anti-gay, so ... etc.

On abortion, & some other issues, the laity (& SF) have moved far from the clergy in Ireland, as seen in the discussion & debate which flowed from the death of Ann Lovett to the 2018 Constitutional Amendment repealing the abortion ban. Separate laws in NI, ofc, but women affected in similiar ways.

That’s what makes it so basic. They’re apparently inclusive….. but actually very myopic - only green + trans. No room for variance.

Hardy strong governance and an organisation tax payers should be funding.

I mean we are literally paying for BFF to oppress Sara legally. No blowback on those throwing the rocks at her.

The blog is open access, the newsletter is subscription only.

If you are uncomfortable then refrain.

I am keener in the interests of open justice.

The submission I cut and pasted was the work of NC and CE, not the work of Nick Wallis although his labour in getting permission to make it available to journalists is acknowledged by pointing out in my post where the cut and paste was from. I have no doubt the C and her legal team want it to be as freely available across all forms and means as possible.

The newsletter which is different from the open blog is Nick’s work and his analysis and I have not cut and pasted from there.

This desire to police based on misapprehension makes others less willing to share and that can be chilling when we are actively trying to engage brains widely.

I'm not quite sure why you have quoted me in your response, I simply made a statement of MY views on copying over stuff from his newsletter?

I used to know all the words to that, but I couldn't recall them when faced with the captions.

Utterly brilliant!

Edited

I have just gardened. I think the problem for me is Christian concern. I don’t agree with their views. I do absolutely stand for the Darlington nurses, Sandie peggie and Sara Morrison. And all the others. I think others have same concern. I know the money doesn’t go to them and that they have supported this cause which is good. But end of the process of gardening implies support of them.

I'd have been useless - rolling around and unable to utter a word, never mind sing!
