What a shit take from R lawyer. Suspension not neutral? To be my most NI: What the actual fuck, like?

At this point I wanted to draw my hand across my throat.

Come on Sean - you were kicking an own goal at this point.

SD: An investigation is a neutral act.

He later claimed that suspension is not a neutral act. Yet I'm sure I remember us being told in Sandie Peggie's case that suspension was also a neutral act. I'd hate to be an electrician on if positive/neutral/negative can all change around like this

SD: We had an unexpected appearance this week from Sarah Palin. She was John McCain's running mate in 2007. McCain and Obama did not agree on much, bu McCain still asked Obama to deliver the eulogy at his funeral.

If the law is on your side, pound the law. If the facts are on your side, pound the facts. If neither are on your side, pound the table. If the whole court is on best and most cordial behaviour because an opposing lawer has demonstrated she will ask for recusal of anyone who puts a toe over the line, tell stories full of irrelevant and confusing diversions - like my dad explaining he had a cheese sandwich for lunch today and somehow including an anecdote about a Bedford van not being able to get up a hill in 1957, one about the design of the M1 bridge at junction 12, and a complete recounting of the 3rd try in last week's All Blacks game.

From NW

hi viz - claimant conceded under xe that she had some role at the event.
SD it's been suggested that the contract of employment is some opportunistic [?] by R

"Secondary employment: You shall not without the express permission of management engage in any paid or
unpaid activity which may directly conflict with the business interests of the employer or
its members or which may interfere with your normal work."
ANY - note any

On its face the C had committed a breach of that contract which merited iv. Now the iv may have agreed with C's interpretation - that the contract was not aimed at that kind of work. But the employer must be allowed to iv

Goes to R's written response: "Whilst Ms Paterson accepted that the Claimant attended this event in a personal
capacity, she found that the Claimant did not inform the Respondent that she was
intending on speaking at this event, despite the public controversy that surrounded
the same. Furthermore, within the Claimant’s contract of employment, it states that...the employee, “shall not without the express permission of management engage in
any paid or unpaid activity which may directly conflict with the business interest of the
employer or its member which may interfere with your normal work.”

SD This has always been part of our case.

SD the decision to iv was an operational one made by MD and the board was clear about that. LB and MTM were supportive, but it was MD's decision to make.

Edited

NW has, understandably, pasted in the almost full quote from the employment contract - which has been read out before, so he probably had it saved (there's a little more to the full thing about not going over the working time directive limits).

SD did not say this.

In his oral sumbission he abridged it as follows:

"You shall not without the express permission of management engage in any paid or unpaid activity which may directly conflict with the business interests of the employer or its members or which may interfere with your normal work."

Stopping half way through the sentence completely changes the meaning.

20 years as co sec, it was in some form but not a company before then. But she’s been in that company for a very long time with no development or growth. You can tell.

Yes back when women were women only. But the funds needed applying for and rainbows got funding. And Mark Cousins is pro-trans so Michelle is of course pro trans.

@SexRealistic am I confused - or typos? SM or MD at BFF for 20+ years?

SexRealistic · 21/11/2025 18:28

There is an element of tis case that’s been grinding my gears.

Sara went to the Equality Commission for support. No dice.

BFF went to Equality Commission for support and it was given. That was redacted in the bundle.

They are captured so I went to take a look. The EC follows Songs for Solidarity Belfast, who tried to silence women at LWS.

Oh and they were causally retweeting jokes about Naomi.

No one stands a chance do they. The actual Equality Commission who is support to advise balance of rights is mocking an ongoing legal case.

Anyone else see the problem?

Weirdly enough I think that's quite a compliment to NC, and the tweet was quite funny (clearly responding to a tweet from NW). I haven't seen any other posts from the Equality Commission (coz I haven't looked).

MyrtleLion · 21/11/2025 19:34

Easytoconfuse · 21/11/2025 15:31

I can. She was the ENEMY so she had to be vanquished, and most people would have been. Only Sara Morrison isn't 'most people'. She's infinitely better than that and all those at the BFF and I hope she finds a new job and new home where she's valued as she deserves to be. I'm just sad because she's lost so much because of some individuals who are still absolutely certain that they're on the right side of history. There again, I expect the Spanish Inquisition and the Witchhunters felt the same way.

Sara Morrison now has a job as lead for Genspect Ireland.

Genspect Ireland — Genspect

Ireland is at a pivotal moment in the conversation around sex, gender, and the care of gender-distressed young people. While international developments, including the Cass Review, have exposed the harms of a purely ‘gender-affirming’ medical model, Ire...

OMG! That’s egregious. He used the same truncation in his XE of Sara. He’s rested one of the most important aspect of their defence on that and totally mislead the public if not the court. Presumably that’s why he did it. Snake.

That's great news for SM and for Genspect Ireland!

And I wasn't aware of Genspect Ireland being separate from the general Genspect that I know about. It's great to know about it, it's very very much needed in Ireland!

No i didn't. Because I think it's the response that anyone of us on here would give if NC asked us to do something in her direct way. And it is clearly someone who has been following the ET closely. At least they used recuse, rather than refuse.

ProfessorBinturong · 21/11/2025 20:20

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 21/11/2025 15:26

That response to the resignation later is brutal - can't believe SD read it out as a defence!

He read it quite quickly so I didn't get it all down, but I don't think he did.

I think Nick took the full version from the bundle but as far as I remember SD omitted the 'you've caused us all so much stress' bit from the oral submission and only read out the deep regrets/warm regards parts.

Agreed. And it's following a tradition of all sorts of people following NC's crosses in previous cases saying that they'd instantly confess to murder if Naomi so much as asked what they had for breakfast. It's a joke about her formidable effectiveness, she's not the butt of it at all.

TriesNotToBeCynical · 21/11/2025 20:50

@ProfessorBinturong Fair enough - I just thought it was one of those things it depends who's saying it.

Unforeseen consequences of allowing a GRC so easily and without full consultation in Ireland

I remember that story. It's going to be chaos, isn't it, after a few years of this? In Ireland, in Germany, all over the place.

But we are leading the way in the UK.

Other countries will follow our lead.

We are the vanguard.

Be proud.

moto748e · 21/11/2025 21:47

[paints St George cross on front door] 😁

For all people mock the UK's 'soft power', I think other countries do take notice of us. Isn't that happening in Australia and NZ right now? Even in the US, a few sane Democrats are pointing to the UK as a cautionary tale to be followed. So yes, I think the UK does have something to be proud of there. With a special shout out to the women of Scotland, of course.

personally i think this is lost. I absolutely hope not. I’m for SM all the way, it may need appealed with less biased judge and panel. Judge is very biased i think. Obviously easily appealed. Given all that’s happened,……
