Prison Guards in Portugal Force Transfer of Violent Transgender Inmate From Women's Prison After Threatening To Strike - Reduxx

Portugal’s national union for prison staff has threatened to strike after a violent transgender inmate housed in a women’s facility injured five correctional officers. The inmate, born Miguel António and now known as “Raquel Teresa,” has since been tra...

'SNCGP representatives demanded António’s transfer to the Monsanto men’s prison and threatened to call a workers’ strike if he was not removed from the women’s estate.'

According to Jornal de Notícias, in September 2025 António attempted to drown a female inmate in a toilet. The following month, he reportedly assaulted another female inmate and two female prison guards.
Despite the clear danger he posed, António was subsequently moved to Tires – another women-only facility. Alarmingly, he was placed in Casa das Mães, a unit designated for mothers and their babies.

mothers and babies.....I'm genuinely speechless

Yet again women and children aren't important enough to trump men's feelings.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/11/2025 09:27

FFS.

OpheliaWitchoftheWoods · 18/11/2025 09:30

Even when he tried to actually kill a woman inmate, it wasn't considered necessary to remove him.

Only the staff threatening to strike and seriously inconvenience management worked.

I despair, I really do.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 18/11/2025 09:35

I know and yet our residents scolders will trill that there are no problems with self ID in other countries

Wouldn't it be wonderful if Nicola Sturgeon and Shona Robison could be made aware of this.

This is shocking. Currently the Scottish government is still fighting to keep men in women's prisons. I hope one of our remaining good msps raises this in parliament.

This also happens here and in Canada. Some male sex offenders put in mother and baby unit. Including paedophiles.

It beggars belief. How do the decision makers avoid prison themselves?

Who sanctions this? Why do Canadians put up with this? It is a stain on the country.

BellissimoGecko · 18/11/2025 09:50

I fucking despair about how unimportant women’s rights and safety are to most men. FFS.

Brefugee · 18/11/2025 09:53

We've had issues here in Germany too.

Because the world literally doesn't car about harm to women and children.

And doubly doesn't care about women (and children) in prison.

LongOutBreath · 18/11/2025 10:05

I think everyone who thinks it's ok to imprison women with men ought to spend a week locked inside with this dude.

OpheliaWitchoftheWoods · 18/11/2025 11:21

There will still be the MRAs who will trot up with the 'research' demonstrating how much happier women are in countries where they are not allowed single sex provision and are made to, for example, be in jails where sex offending men try to kill them.

It is horribly reminiscent of the repulsive documents still on record that were used as propaganda by the South in the American civil war that were supposed to prove how much slaves loved their slavery, and how much better for them it was.

The bottom line really is that many men are invested in ensuring women have no right to avoid use by men who wish to use them, and unfortunately plenty of women are very invested in supporting and enabling those men and pimping the bodies of other women out to their agendas.

ScrollingLeaves · 18/11/2025 12:27

Who sanctions men in women’s’ prisons?
Is it only men, or actually also women on ‘the right side of history’ who are unlikely to be imprisoned themselves?

If only men, I suspect they have a secret fascination for being a transwoman themselves; or enjoyment of misogyny through an alter ego. It is corrupt and sick.

In Portugal it would seem it was male and female politicians from the (at the time) socialist government cheering on the self id law.

opponents were written about as only being right wing religious conservatives. I can't find any info on what Portuguese feminist groups thought about it

Portugal like many European countries is now moving further right with Chega being hugely popular and populist

Absolutely. I expect the likes of Shona and Nicola to stick their fingers in their ears and go "Blah, blah, blah". Who the hell thought it was okay to put him in with women and babies ?

It's the law there. Bill C-16 makes it impossible to discriminate on the basis of gi. There is a whole raft of legislation and case law which permits or mandates this elevation of GI over sex and enabling sex offenders. Some provinces are nuttier than others, as in the US.

So for anyone complaining about our Equality Act here in the UK, you don't know how lucky you are.

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · 18/11/2025 15:30

If only all those Labour MP's who are trying to nix the EHRC's guidance and the tool who is responsible for the government's decision to team up with the GLP to try and change the SC's definition cold be made to comment on this inevitable outcome of their barnpot ideology.

The Global Left have done more damage to women and children, not to mention civilisation, in the West than any other stupidity that we've ever come up with.

ginasevern · 18/11/2025 15:42

It actually makes me want to weep. Genuinely weep. I wonder whether the women who enable all of this will one day realise its impact on women as a whole. Whether they'll have a light bulb moment as the situation becomes more and more bonkers and unsafe.

The article mentions that he was being held in isolation in the unit, at least at the point at which he set fire to the place.

They'd just say that trans prisoners are evaluated to avoid unreasonable risks. That's the approach they've taken.

I know. It is mental. I said on the Sandie Peggie thread as well, but my colleague who wears the progress pride lanyard and has pronouns in her email (my work really pushes it, I refused the lanyard when they were being handed out, I think as a public body we should just stick to neutral colours or the main colour of our organisation) has finally started to "see it". She approached me I guess because I DON'T have pronouns in my email, so she's (correctly) made the assumption that I'm not on board with gender ideology.

She mentioned prisons and the Sandie Peggie case. I told her to start looking all the stuff up that's been going on. I'll see if I can point her to this as well. She's been caught up in "being kind" etc and our work really pushes it. I'm considered an outlier in our team.

Oh I know they'll always have a politicians non answer available to them when asked to comment. It's despicable.

ScrollingLeaves · 18/11/2025 18:21

I think anyone thinking of moving there should rethink.
