"NIPSA supported the tenth Annual Outburst Queer Arts Festival (10-19 November), International Transgender Day of Remembrance (20 November)"

"Issued information to branches about the launch of education guidance for schools, youth workers and educators working with trans and non-binary young people in Northern Ireland produced by SAIL NI and GenderJam."

"The following appears at section A8 of the same report under the heading “General Issues”:

Trans Rights: As part of the Northern Ireland Human Rights Festival which ran from 4 December 2016 and...

No
I remember the brownie code
‘ I promise that I will do my best to do my duty to God to serve the Queen and to keep the Brownie…..something something?

( we sang lots of religious songs, I’m curious now )

Edited

"Serve the queen, help other people" There was a huge emphasis in all the rhymes and chants on being helpful.

Darllington

One of the reasons juror's identities are kept confidential in this country is to avoid them being examined. If you dig deep enough into anyone's past you'll find something that can form the basis of bias one way or another. The theory is that something magical happens when you put 12 individuals in a room together, and everyone hangs their prejudices on the coat rack outside.

Now I do accept this is a different scenario - there's only a panel of three - and panel members' identities are made known, so they are open to scrutiny.

Fascinating stuff, I've honestly never wanted to sit. In on an employment tribunal before but this has me fascinated.
Also as a NIPSA member I'm really curious about the status of their worker, is he paid by the tribunal or seen as a public worker so unable to get double pay.
Is my £12.50 a month helping to seat a NIPSA worker at that tribunal.

CriticalCondition · 17/11/2025 14:15

If the judge grants the application, can she sit alone if the parties agree? Or will they have to start again with two fresh lay members?

Brownie guide promise?

I solemnly swear to do my best, to love my god, to serve my queen and my country, to help other people and to keep the brownie guide law?

If the judge has retired to consider the submissions, does that mean that McKeown is sat there with the whole court looking at him?

No, the panel moves as one.

MyAmpleSheep · 17/11/2025 14:16

maltravers · 17/11/2025 14:11

This may be part of NC’s wider game plan. Ie, the whole of the “establishment” has been captured. You will need to take great care to find an “uncaptured” panel.

SM was quoted somewhere saying something like "the system needs to change" - so I'm guessing she's all in with stirring things up as much as a she can.

If she can get a recusal for trade union activity from the trade union member - or better still, lose here but win on an appeal for recusal, then that's a lot of system thrown up in the air.

This ideology poisons everything it touches

The Gender Critical fightback against Genderism has been highly effective at laying bare the hidden rot at the core of many Western Liberal institutions.

MyrtleLion · 17/11/2025 14:16

Unlike the judge whose recusal was sought in Helow, Mr McKeown was not a mere member of NIPSA; he was a member of the trade union’s General Council from 2009 to 2017, and already described as a “leading trade unionist”...

... official position of the trade union throughout the time during which Mr McKeown served as a member of its General Council."

"It is submitted that Mr McKeown’s leading role in a trade union that did during the currency of his role (and has ever since) taken a trans-activist campaigning position..."

"... is on its own sufficient to cause the fair-minded and informed observer to conclude that there was a real possibility of bias. That conclusion is supported by two further matters...

May well soon be actually, rather than metaphorically, moving as one

Brownies in Canada used to say

“I promise
to do my best
to God, the Queen and my country,
to help other people ev’ry day,
especially those at home.”

borntobequiet · 17/11/2025 14:17

I am wondering where anyone can find any Trade Union type person to sit at an Employment Tribunal whose organization isn't heavily tainted by genderwang. Mars, perhaps?

Hopefully this should clear the ideology out of the courtrooms

If racism was endemic we’d rout it out.

This needs routed. More power to your elbow Naomi!

"First, even after the recusal application of Friday 14 November and Professor Boyd’s consequent recusal, Mr McKeown did not raise the matter of his role with NIPSA and its campaigning position on the debate at the heart of this case..."

"The second matter is the fair-minded and informed observer’s awareness of the context, in the form of the unusually polarised and polarising nature of this particular debate...

... Against that backdrop of such a bitterly-fought controversy, the fair-minded observer must be particularly careful to avoid the complacency against which Lord Hope warns at par 2 of Helow"

"In the circumstances, Mr McKeown is respectfully invited to recuse himself, failing which the judge is invited to take the decision in any event that he must be recused. Subject to the Respondent’s written consent, the Claimant asks the judge to hear the case sitting alone."

CarefulN0w · 17/11/2025 14:18

Behind as usual, but I solemnly swear to do my best, to love Naomi and serve Tunnocks even though I think they are the work of the devil.

I don't think he is there for or as NIPSA.

He is in the panel pool with that experience as context.

I wonder what the judge is going to do
