'Police Scotland Chief Constable Jo Farrell: "A man who rapes or attempts to rape a woman, girl or other victim is, should be, and will be recorded by Police Scotland as a male." "Let me be clear - my priority is to protect victims."'

. . . a petition created by the founders of policy group Murray Blackburn Mackenzie (MBM), which has been under consideration since July 2021 and seeks to accurately record the sex of people charged or convicted of rape or attempted rape . . .

More than four years

Well, it’s not that important, is it? ‘A dangerous 6ft 3 woman is on the loose. Police say she is very violent and not to be approached’. What can go wrong with that? At least now if ‘she’ is a convicted rapist, we will get told – surprise! – it’s a man. But just a mass murderer? Nothing to see here.

Sorry – and amazing work MBM. So pleased you are finally being listened to.

My thoughts exactly. Corrupted data is useless and allocating crimes committed by males to females whatever the crime may be does exactly that.

I would go further and state that trans identity should also be recorded in addition to sex where it is claimed.

Let's have accurate recording and a clear breakdown of crimes and those who commit them.

Yes.
If, as some claim, ‘transwomen are women’, and no more likely to commit violent or any other crime than a natal female, the trans community would surely welcome robust data to prove this?

Copying my post from the other thread.

I'd like to cheer, but it starts "A Man who....."
I cannot but feel that this will be a qualifier, as in anyone who identifies as a woman won't be counted. The language has been so butchered I find it difficult not to look for the traps.

If it's true, I cheer this as great news, but I cannot help but be suspicious after all the language bending.

This was my first thought too.

Interestingly, if one finds the absurd interesting, the CC's statement could include women who call themselves transmen.

'In this Act—

“penis” includes a surgically constructed penis if it forms part of A, having been created in the course of surgical treatment, and

“vagina” includes—

(a)the vulva, and

(b)a surgically constructed vagina (together with any surgically constructed vulva), if it forms part of B, having been created in the course of such treatment.'

Scottish law is written to show rape as a gender neutral offence.

And that is the 2009 Act's original wording. They've been trans inclusive for a very long time.

This feels like significant news and yet... astonishing that it's so astonishing!

Esp as UK law specifies that only men can commit rape!

Yeah but like all words that gets perverted.
Xxx is a "woman" not a man therefore xxx cannot have commited rape ( despite having a penis ).

English/Welsh law is different from Scots law. Don't know about NI.
