This council takes the biscuit!

They are preventing a woman from asking about the risks of predatory men in single sex spaces.

Ban on asking Green council about ‘predatory men’ in single-sex spaces

Extract here:

A woman has been blocked by Bristol city council from asking Green Party leaders whether “predatory men” could enter single-sex female spaces by posing as trans women.

Helen, a university academic in the city, submitted a question to ask at the full council meeting on Tuesday evening but was told it was “offensive” and would not be allowed.

Bristol city council, led by the Green Party, has criticised the Supreme Court ruling in April that the words “woman” and “man” in the Equality Act refer to sex at birth.

The council has been openly aligned with trans activists since it passed a motion in July 2022 to “recognise and affirm trans men are men, trans women are women” and pledged not to take advice from or award contracts “to organisations that promote an anti-trans agenda or propaganda”.

<JackNicholson banging the table> can't handle the truth.

Words create reality, not facts. So not letting people talk about it totes makes it all go away. Foundation of the entire gender ideology movement.

Anyone thinking of voting for Zak Polanski because he's a breath of fresh air/tells it like it is/sordid truth to power

this is what you'll be voting in across the country

Helen is a brave woman

Who is it supposed to be ‘offensive’ to? Predatory men?Confused

DiaAssolellat · 04/11/2025 18:51

[irrelevant] Fascinating photo in the article. Wondering how many items of clothing are from Lucy and Yak, as well as why so many people here are wearing face masks and why someone’s carrying a placard about disabilities.

So on the one hand we have the possibility that a trans-identified male might feel hurt at the suggestion that some males want to get into female-only spaces for nefarious purposes. On the other hand we have the very real possibility of harm, real serious harm (physical or psychological or both) to the women, girls and young children those spaces and services were set up for.

Guess whose feelings the Greens have decided to prioritise.

The Council meeting where the question was banned is currently underway.

I understand that councillors walked out again when women spoke and also that one of the councillors was holding a "Protect The Dolls" sign and waving the Progress flag.

Another councillor interrupted a member of the public when she spoke.

Why the hell do these people think this is a reasonable way to act? Shocking.

Totally!! I bet no one asks ZP about this - they bloody should! How can the greens aspire to run a country when their modus operandi idol apoears to be Rik from the young one

Bristol City Council is an absolute disgrace as are all the women who support such childish nonsense.

DrBlackbird · 04/11/2025 22:50

All so sanctimonious, righteous and certain. When at its heart, this behaviour is about control and dominance. Next thing you know, they’ll be getting wrong thinking women like Helen to write out "I will not tell lies" over and over again. Absolutely nothing will shift their certainty. Shame they didn’t care more about the environment.

Well of course. What does the suffering of women matter, compared with men's hurty feelz?

LondonGirrrrl · 05/11/2025 00:14

Bloody hell, how ridiculous that a simple question can’t be asked. Surely Bristol City Council has a risk assessment which covers mixed sex spaces and single sex spaces, particularly in light of the recent clarification of law.

quickquestion12345 · 05/11/2025 09:53

Women will never be free will we. I’ve realised that now. How exhausting and depressing.

potpourree · 05/11/2025 10:00

I've said it before but the Greens will never know just how many supporters or potential supporters they have lost with this misogyny.

A fairer society and a real fight against climate change is not achieved by their childish dishonesty.

I think the point is that it offensive to "predatory men" and every single other person who follows an ideology which enables predatory men.

The only question is whether the others are offended because they knowlingly support predatory men, or because they are so incredibly blinkered that they cannot see that not everyone is who they say they are.

Having said that, someone in Bristol is voting these authoritarian ignoramuses into office.

Yep! I'd be interested in seeing the Bristol turnout and the demographics of the wards where these councillors are getting in

I can't imagine what it must be like being a GC council officer there

TonTonMacoute · 05/11/2025 12:37

Naughty women, you need to understand that you are not allowed to ask a question if it makes the person answering it look like a massive wankbadger. Tsk tsk!

nicepotoftea · 05/11/2025 22:17

According to the Times the Tory Lord Mayor ruled that the question couldn’t be asked.
