All this show me is that the labour party think that laws are like pick and mix, and i thought that was just the last few tory governments….silly me !

I think it also shows how little understanding most MPs have of the purpose and scope of the Supreme Court ruling. I bet few have taken the trouble to read and understand the judgement, relying instead on false ideological talking points and general confusion.

heathspeedwell · 01/11/2025 09:45

Done. I'll get friends and family to email too.

MoltenLasagne · 01/11/2025 09:46

Done, thanks for the link. Remarkably easy.

TheodoreisntBeth · 01/11/2025 09:50

Done - though my MP is one of the handmaidens on the WEC, so will do nothing other than continue to sell out women in the service of kindness to men.

AlistairSim · 01/11/2025 09:51

Done but fully expect a response telling how important trans rights are and making no reference to the actual issue/letter.

AmberLime · 01/11/2025 09:58

Done

Lovelyview · 01/11/2025 12:05

I've emailed my MP. Feeling very depressed 🙁

DustyWindowsills · 01/11/2025 12:34

Done my Saturday morning terfing.

NotInMyyName · 01/11/2025 12:40

Me too @Lovelyview. Im waiting the outcome of the various employment tribunals to cheer me up and rebalance the discussion. Im sure if more people were aware of the trans violence and their reliance on inaccurate and emotional arguments this might make a difference. I hope todays 199 day rallies go well ❤️

PassTheHanky · 01/11/2025 12:40

Email sent to my MP just now

PrawnofthePatriarchy · 01/11/2025 13:55

Done. Thanks for alerting me.

CarefulN0w · 01/11/2025 14:14

Done. I adapted the SM template and emailed it, so have cc’d Sex Matters in too in case they are keeping a count.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 01/11/2025 14:53

Also done. Time to call the government to account for openly colluding with trans extremists trying to breach the law.

Jammington · 01/11/2025 15:00

Done.
If anyone remembers 'plebgate' that's my guy.

I've messaged her m about womens rights before.
IIRC got a 'I'm not arsed' vibe from his reply - but he DID respond which is something.

Most small pubs and restaurants tend already to have single occupancy facilities which anyone can use and sometimes an accessible toilet too. They would not need to change anything.

All that is required in many other instances is one additional self contained 'neutral' facility alongside the existing single sex provisions.

Edited

@Shortshriftandlethal agree
@NeatRoseOtter Many facilities that have incorrect labelling at present were originally male or female only facilities and the only thing that the business changed is the label. Which is why there are now gender neutral loos signed with with or without urinals. So just change the label back!

There are a few buildings which will have built unisex facilities in the past few years which are not university self-contained toilets - because they were taking Stonewall sourced advice. Perhaps these could be given longer to comply with the law.

What was particularly galling from looking at the businesses that signed the letter was that many will have no toilet facilities and not need them. For example mobile hairdressers. This was not a good faith letter.

I don't see that there's any obligation to provide a gender neutral option at all. You just need to provide men's, women's and disabled. Nothing says there has to be a gender neutral option.

I suppose after a decade of having been able to say 'don't look at the actual law, this our own version of the law and we explain it (which oddly only works for us and no one else)' it's coming as a shock that this control has gone.

Colluding ^^ Absobloodylutely. Many of them coming from groups receiving government tax payer funding to breach the law and discriminate against women and gay people.

Honestly, with the best will in the world, I would, but I doubt it'd get in front of her eyes anyway (the most I've ever had from previous emails was an auto acknowledgment from her office), and even if it did, what could I expect from someone who parades around in a "Protect the Dolls" t-shirt?

It's still worth sending an email. The more of us who do, the fewer votes they can assume are theirs. Eventually that does focus minds.

RayneBowTrout · 01/11/2025 20:18

Done! Thank you for the link; it ties in nicely with my last two emails that I recently sent my MP (Peter Kyle).

IwantToRetire · 01/11/2025 20:34

I dont think the concern is about costs of changing or creating additional toilets.

Employers are terrified of the TRAs.

They are terrified there are going to be law suits, accusations of transphobia, mental health distress.

So even though on one level it is about reasonable, easy adjustment, that isn't they real problem.

The TRAs are in charge, and no one thinks women are important enought to take a stand for, even if the highest court in the land has told them that legally they should.

I agree......but at most all that would need to be offered is a single gender neutral facility if one really wanted to be 'inclusive'.

paisley256 · 02/11/2025 00:05

Done

Planesmistakenforstars · 02/11/2025 01:46

Done. Mine does at least usually acknowledge, and sometimes reply, to these things. I am fairly certain he's not one of the handmaidens though, or doesn't identify as a handmaiden, since he's pissed off TRAs in the past.

71Alex · 02/11/2025 09:58

Done. I’ve written to my MP before about the data issue and got a ‘blah blah blah’ response so I’m expecting more of the same.

3beesinmybonnet · 02/11/2025 22:03

Done, and got DH to send it too.
