The City of London Corporation has launched a public consultation to help inform future access arrangements at Hampstead Heath’s Bathing Ponds.

The consultation invites feedback from pond users, the local community, and stakeholders on how the Kenwood Ladies’, and Highgate Men’s ponds should operate in the future.

The consultation is open until 12:00 on Tuesday 25 November 2025.

Opened today and I found out via an Irish newspaper!

I know there is an existing thread about legal challenge but thought it good to have the news of the consultation being open as a thread title.

Yes it was when they posted their update.

I just assumed they wanted to get this step forward into the public domain.

And it says 21st or soon after.

So need to keep checking back on their web site. Not sure that the mainstream media is following this that closely.

Thanks for the heads up. Let’s see what the update is today.

This is the latest from our local paper. A tiny letter encouraging people to respond to the consultation, without stating an opinion, and a HUGE article by a sad man bemoaning the removal of his rights. I can’t formulate any response, which is unlikely to be printed anyway, as I am very upset and annoyed. So much incorrect information and no balance at all

He doesn’t have a clue what the Supreme Court case was about.

I feel like I need to respond but I’m addled right now

"Imagine bringing in a law which doesn't affect anyone else. It just targets 8,500 of us" (men with GRCs)

Because OBVIOUSLY the fact that it affects every woman's right to single sex spaces doesn't matter, because they are evidently sub-human.

I am happy to report that the local paper (Camden New Journal) has printed two good letters in response to the large item printed last week (photo above). There is also a letter from a local councillor supporting trans residents but no mention of women 🤷‍♀️

That first letter is excellent. Measured, clear. Setting out what’s at risk for women.

This is an excellent letter from Richard Cotton in the Camden New Journal he tweeted today (sorry I don’t have the technical skills to post a photo). He is a well liked and well regarded Labour councillor so interesting to see him make a stand - at last. Camden obv don’t have jurisdiction over the ponds but they’re within the borough and he will have/should have Keir Starmer’s ear as the local MP.

My letter in today's Camden New Journal. I have always supported the sex-based rights of women and LGB people as well as the right of trans people to live their best lives.

Very good to hear from a London Labour pol.

LittleBitofBread · 14/11/2025 17:37

Excellent letter. I particularly like that he makes the point that no one is saying trans people don't exist; that's probably for me the most irksome point of argument in this whole conversation.
