... & Magpie regularly drains the hot chocolate bowser.

If you understand that, or you're just cool with it, come on in & bagsie a chair by the fire.

Oh I remember those! I got one 'back in the day' just for a laugh, quickly tired of the novelty, and it turned out to be an absolute winner with my granny who had dementia - she thought it was hilarious, and it was so lovely to see her having so much fun.
Thanks for the memory, TazSmile

🥰

I was a little optimistic when I wrote this week’s menu - tonight’s dinner was supposed to be falafel wraps with raita, but it is cold and dreich here, so we’ve scrapped that idea, and are having Chinese take away instead.

I have had to order it - slaving over a hot —stove— website - a woman’s work is never done! 😂😂😂

I've had the same thing for breakfast, dinner and tea today.

A bacon and Stilton bagel!

I really must do a food shop

Popping on to place-mark… completely lost the thread/plot a few months ago!

Am back, though. Thans @Boiledbeetle

DD started at uni 2 weeks ago (sadly has freshers flu, but her flatmates are checking on her… well, except for the opera singing music undergrad, for sensible reasons). I finished her woollen hug [main reason for not being online, it took f+cking months, not the 4 weeks I guestimated].

Currently marvelling at the observation that Tandora doesn’t like me as they always ignore my posts. I feel so invisible… 😭

Menopause is a curse… had always thought being invisible was supposed to be a superpower?

Btw, I have to finish my phd novel by Christmas, but am planning to start my BookNook tomorrow… [cue maniacal, orange gin infused laugh].

Jealousy, more likely - what a hairdo!

Yes I admit that I could no longer remain aloof from the NC-induced schwarmerei; she had me at It's my destiny at the moment to ask stupid questions😍

How not to love somebody who can come up with a line like that off the cuff?

I only fancy men but seriously NC does things to me!!

Step away from the book nook!

But it’s the Sherlock-y Holmes one!

I don't care and neither does your PhD supervisor!

Agreed… she has cleared time over Xmas/jan to read the bloody thing. Maybe I could buy her a book nook kit for xmas?

Swashbuckled · 02/10/2025 19:40

Welcome back CautiousLurker01, and I'm confident that somebody who can make a lovely blanket out of long straight pieces of wool [knitting is magic isn't it?] can do a PhD novel AND a book-nook at the same time, for the same reason that Peggy Lee could
... wash out 44 pairs of socks and have 'em hangin out on the line
... starch & iron 2 dozens shirts 'fore you can count from 1 to 9
😁

It truly is. Once tried it is incredibly hard to go back to HP on your bacon.

Taztoy · 02/10/2025 19:46

Get that PhD done!!!

DeanElderberry · 02/10/2025 19:46

I missed my chance to seem brave today, I'd arranged to travel with friends to a churchy thing tomorrow evening, away up in the hills along back boreens, and when one of them phoned at lunchtime to confirm, I weaselled out, blaming the weather, declining to be persuaded that a yellow warning isn't that bad.

So having made it clear to all and sundry that yes, I am a wuss, I didn't know whether to feel chagrined or vindicated when the whole bun-fight was cancelled fifteen minutes later.

The viva will be interesting.

Explain your use of UHU on the top left corner, why did you change from PVA?

You wrote 'bagel', but admit it Swash, you were thinking crisps.... bacon and stilton crisps... mmmm....😁

Meant to add an blanket image earlier, but MN felt my image was too large so been messing about trying to make the file smaller.

A very unstealthy brag. This is on DD’s bed as she wallows ….

Myrtle - I've just heard from my friends, they are going straight home tonight and so won't be stopping over chez moi.

So
[a] I have a nice, though unnecessarily, tidy house
[b] I have nice things in the fridge I normally wouldn't buy for myself and most importantly
[c] I can do the TT transcriptions for the tribunal tomorrow no probSmile

FuzzyPuffling · 02/10/2025 20:05

Lurky, that's a very lovely blanket.

It's beautiful! I love the colours, very elegant and restful.
I'm sure DD is appreciating being able to wrap herself in your hugs at the momentSmile

Thank you - apparently the ‘weight’ is perfect (that seems to be an autism thing) and the texture of the [😱 women’s institute] double knit wool from Hobby craft is lush. it did seem very soft and silky. am hoping the WI didn’t make much profit from it, though…
