Is it safety or separation?

When opposing transgender people in women's spaces, are you looking for safe spaces or separate spaces?

They may overlap but are not the same thing, and while a lot of the discussion is focused on safety, the tone and some arguments hint that addressing safety won't be enough for many people to feel comfortable. Instead, a place without males is sought.

I read one woman described it "At the club we used the women's bathroom to get a break from interacting with men".

Have read a bit further and would advise posters not to engage with LoftyRobin. The lack of empathy and focus on goading a victim of assault is increasingly disturbing. I don’t know if the aim is to exemplify their own points about women‘s capacity for unpleasantness in real time, or if they’re a man, but either way, I find it worrying. Meanwhile, the stark difference in tone and content between their own and Taztoy‘s replies frankly makes our argument for us, as such posters do often do.

indeed. On another thread they claim to be a midwife....I sincerely hope not!

But women like me couldn’t cope with all cubicles. So why can’t we have both cubicles (for those who want to use them) and shared single sex spaces for those who don’t and who are happy to take the risk (as you see it) of changing in a communal space?

Again, this is how the pool I use is configured.

Why cant you cope with a cubicle within a female changing space?

I think demanding single sex spaces on the grounds of safety is silly as women harm too. Separation is why it is necessary and there is nothing wrong with that. Its also why I dont believe in communal changing rooms at all (cublices FTW) because I think people should be separated when in that condition of vulnerability. It makes sense to divide changing areas by sex but discourage communal nudity by having cubicles. That would be safer.

Woman on woman is equal. Men can kill women easily. Man on woman is not equal. Hence why women have these spaces for safety. Saying 'oh women can harm too' is a spurious desperate argument and it holds no water.

Was it you who thought that young woman yesterday was a man? Is this why youre now trying to have me frozen out?

Nobody is freezing you out.

It's simply that women's rights aren't yours to give away.

LoftyRobin · 20/09/2025 09:39

So now because I won't agree with you, its all "she must be a man", don't speak to her etc. What a petty group of adults!

I don’t feel unsafe around women, but I also prefer a seperate changing room based on sex, with individual cubicles within it.

I don’t like wandering around a mixed sex changing room/village after a shower. I don’t really like changing in a mixed sex room even in a cubicle next to a man. Past sexual assaults and filming with a hidden camera have left me very wary of strange men.

Although I’ve been abroad and been in total nudity single sex changing rooms with tonnes of nude women, I didn’t feel unsafe, I’m just too self conscious, so that would be dignity.

Who is giving away anything? I just suggested cubicles in a single spaced changing room. Stop fabricating things to pretend youre having an argument.

98% of those 98% were likely enabled and ar still.supported by women. I see people as unsafe.

I’m sorry you were sexually abused and assaulted. But what are you advocating for here?

No it's because you're being rude and goady, and showing a surprising lack of empathy for a victim of violence.

What changing in a safe, private space? I'll go with yes.

And I suggested both cubicles and an open changing space within the women’s single sex changing rooms (and fwiw in the men’s too). It will be cheaper to provide and meet the wishes of those who wish to use a cubicle and also those who either prefer to be or don’t mind being in a communal space.

Why is that unacceptable to you?

Thats what I suggested. Separated by sex with individual cubicles to prohibit communal nudity.

Brainworm · 20/09/2025 09:43

Despite the OP’s framing, the question why single sex provision is desired. There is a strong societal preference for single sex provision in specific public spaces. The preference is usually underpinned by reasons linked to safety and/or vulnerability.

The mention of trans people reflects poor communication or confusion. Trans people have a sex, and most people advocating for single sex provision expect everyone to use the provision designated for their sex.

The complication comes from transmen who pass. If they are likely to be perceived as male, they could cause alarm or distress. Most transmen who pass do not want to use provision for females, so there are few issues arising from this.

Ok that there proves you're not a woman. No woman would accuse another woman of making up her story to feel 'victimised'. Victimised? How fucking dare you! Women don't treat each other that way. Only a male would basically outright call a rape survivor a liar like that and minimise her experience. Your posts are cruel, abhorrent and absolutely disgusting! And you only joined today, too. Things that make you go hmmmm.

Why do you need an open changing space to see naked people and get naked in front of others? I find that strange. Go in a public in a female changing area.

Nobody knows what men are plotting when they invade wonens spaces so we have no way of knowing.

Frozen out? You're spamming multiple threads and being personally offensive. Take a break.
