Men in women’s groups.

Really unsure if I’m being unreasonable, but what do others think?

I belong to a FB group for women over 65 in my town. They have lots of get togethers, at least a couple a week. A few months ago there was a vote after a man requested to join. The overwhelming majority said no. If they want a similar group, start their own. Fair enough.

However there is a trans woman that has been welcomed with open arms. He would NOT pass as a woman, not quite a bloke in a wig but certainly you would know he was trans.

What do people think about this? Acceptable or not? I’m am totally the ‘live and let live’ but seems a bit disingenuous to ban men but not trans women?

Do you really think men trying it on by pretending to be trans is happening very often?

Was Isla Bryson trying it on by pretending to be trans?

FlirtsWithRhinos · 21/09/2025 23:10

Or Jordan Gray, the woman who played the piano with her cock on TV. Is Jordan Gray trying it on, just pretending to be trans, or is Jordan the sort of lovely genuine trans woman anyone would welcome in their all-women group?

Am i not waiting on you answering a question of mine ?

Are you? I don't know.

I asked if it happens often not ever. If someone suddenly discovers a trans identify after committing a crime, or commits a crime that only someone of their birth sex could commit, that’s probably a good sign they aren’t genuine.

FancySheep · 21/09/2025 22:59

Do you need to if it isn’t actually a real concern?

Yes because of my previous trauma as I’ve explained. And also because the law in the U.K. does not allow men in women’s single sex spaces. And consent matters I am not a rape apologist. And I don’t drink drive either and I’d report a drink driver and I don’t see the difference between that law and this law.

At least we can be comfortable around men genuinely pretending to be a woman, not like those other fakers!

Anchorage56 · 21/09/2025 23:15

🤣 someone playing the piano with their cock on TV. Its got to that time of night again.

What you said there is transphobic. That’s what I was told. That me saying there was no such thing as lady dick was transphobic.

you need to be careful. Those genuine trans women will be calling you transphobic if you say things like that because that’s denying the reality of the lady dick.

If it’s transphobic to say someone who commits a sex based crime isn’t trans, I can live with it 🤣

@Anchorage56If you can't see that a man being refused joining then turning around putting a bit of lippy on and declaring he was trans is absolute bollocks, then I hope you have assistance in every day life.

Of course it’s bollocks but what would you do and how could you refuse him as you r already accepted the previous trans person? It would be discrimination

The answer is to obey the law and accept neither. Simple.

moggly · 21/09/2025 23:24

I wouldn't want to be the one to kick the first man out though, bet he'd rage

Oblahdeeoblahdoe · 21/09/2025 23:24

Did they have a vote to allow the transwoman? If not, maybe suggest having one

I'm sorry, did you not know about this?

Jordan Gray. Well known trans woman performer and activist.

Jordan played the piano with her cock to demonstrate how women can be proud of their cocks and still be 100% all woman.

It was hardly obscure, it was on Channel 4 a few years ago.

You must realise these are the women you are championing? Not lovely Hayley from Corrie (played by an actual woman) but intact blokes whose experience of "womanhood" has very little to do with the realities of life as a female person and everything to do with male people feeling entitled to take whatever they want including the name "woman"?

I like how everyone is assuming I'm in some position of authority in this made up group, the judge jury and executioner. I'll repeat what I've said many times, I would be happy to accept a trans woman but I would also be happy to go with the majority opinion of the group. And I would assume the people I choose to be friends with would have the brains to realise the difference, and if they didn't I'd exit the group!

Is your issue just that you can’t differentiate between men “trying it on” and TIMs?

Yep, it's a bit of a shock facing the reality of trans womanhood in all its glory. I can see why you'd need a lie down.

Hopefully things will start to become clearer for you after a nice sleep.

Whatever they are, they’re men. And if a group is a single sex women’s group they aren’t allowed. That’s what the law says.

Why is this so hard to understand? I don’t get it. Genuinely. I don’t drink and drive. Even if there was an infinitesimal chance of being caught I still wouldn’t drink and drive. Because the law says that’s illegal.

Why is this different?

I think it’s clear her ‘issue’ (ie perfectly understandable reason) is that she can distinguish males from females. Nothing to do with whatever gender identity they may or may not have.

Im fortunate enough never to have been sexually or physically assaulted but I can understand why a woman who has suffered this and continues to suffer from a trauma response needs to know that anything described as being for women really is for women - single sex, female only.

no idea why this eludes some people, it seems very obvious.

You’re the one who brought up men trying it on so I thought that was important to you.

There is a significant difference between drink driving and personally not complying with the Equality Act. One has penalties for the individual and the other doesn’t.
