Flipping Furries

Went out for the day with a mate to Haworth, and decided we'd do the steam train route to get there. Headed down to the platform at the local station after we'd bought our rover ticket only to be greeted by about twenty furries. The vast majority were in full fur, with a few just in tails and masks.

JFC what a load of selfish morons. They annoyed the entire train, freaked out kids and dogs, ruined other people's photos, and at Oxenhope when the train stops for about 20 mins for photos, snacks etc, they monopolised the cab, in and out, taking photos, and nobody else had a chance. Health and safety was an issue due to these idiots slowly trying to climb in and out of the engine unit in full costume (and struggling to do so). What struck me was how entitled they all acted - very flamboyant, not leaving people alone, striking poses everywhere, very much wanting to be the centre of attention. A few pride and trans flags tied round people's necks, big old blokes with tails poking out their jeans, a lot of them being very touchy-feely, trying to explain themselves and their ethos to other users who weren't really interested - made everyone else feel pretty uncomfortable. I thought they just did this stuff at conventions and comic-cons and stuff?

Looking at this, the easiest thing would be to ban visitors from wearing full face covering masks. It’s intimidating.

(Except maybe be controversial for niqab/ burqa but hopefully they can think up a smart way to work around that).

Yes banning all face coverings would be easiest.
(And include burkas/niqab - why should we make allowances for extreme religious practices that oppress women in this country?)

Were they actually revealing anything they shouldn’t? If not how is it different from wearing other hobby clothes? Are you going to pan steam punk clothes because some like them in “that” way, how about goth clothes? mini skirts? those ghastly scrunch leggings that leave nothing to the imagination? Can I board a train dressed as a superhero?

we have decency laws and it doesn’t sound like they broke them so ignore, engaging is encouraging them, being disinterested is always the best way

But the Goths and Steampunks I know (including myself) just get on with things and don't cause a nuisance. And it's not really a hobby, all my clothes are Gothy! Nor is Goth or Steampunk a fetish.

Mr Mybug would know.

I am sure he would have had a theory about Bramwell, who obviously, while he was working 16 hour days writing Wuthering Heights, as his only relaxation and recreation would dress up in a fursuit (a leopard, hence 'the Pard'). This of course could be proven by it absolutely not being mentioned in his letters to his aunt.

But Mr Mybug would of course mention the sexual nature of furry culture.. In fact, he would probably be a natural furry himself and talk of nothing else.

One of my favourite books and that made me laugh ❤

Edited

Agree with this, I’ve been in Whitby as a non goth during many Goth Weekends and the odd steampunk one and I have never once come across groups of goths acting obnoxiously or in an entitled way.

No. But because it is a sexual fetish, that should probably rule out wearing such things in general public.

Not all furries are sexual fetishes - only a minority is, which attention is brought to because that is what stands out about it. My child is a furry, and I can confirm from their gallery, search history, social media and just plain from them that they are not and hold no intention of being one. Not all furries are sexual fetishes, even if a few are, but there are bad apples in every group, not just furries.

The OP isn’t about children dressing up.
