'The case of double amputee surgeon Andrew Neil Hopper, who infected his own legs with dry ice so they could be amputated because he had a fetish for amputations has opened a window into a truly bizarre world of dark web pornography and weird sexual fantasies for cut-off limbs and "stumps that look so sexy".
At a sentencing hearing at Truro Crown Court today (Thursday September 4) it was heard how Hopper had throughout his life felt that he was in the wrong body and wanted to be a woman, but could not talk to anyone about it in the small rural village in Wales where he grew up.
The court was told how Hopper went to medical school where met his wife and future mother of his children and confided in her about his gender issues but never to his colleagues for fear he would be cast out out and left isolated. Neither did he confide to anyone about his body integrity disorder and the deep-rooted loathing he had for his legs and feet.'

I must admit I found myself having a quick glance at that Reddit section and it really disgusted me

Edited

Yeah, the constant ‘we don’t want the public to think BIID is a sex thing’ immediately followed by ‘obviously it CAN be a sex thing, we just want to keep that part a secret’ is really troubling.

ArabellaScott · 09/09/2025 14:47

'How may of you find it arousing?'
'All of us'
'All of us, but don't talk about it because it looks bad'
'All of us and I'm not ashamed'

(obviously I'm paraphrasing)

I find myself concerned re: potential crossover (deliberate or accidental ) with the young women/transmen who identify as a disabled/self ‘prescribe’ mobility aids (compounded by exploitation via Only fans etc).

Funnily enough I stumbled across a ‘we need to restrict all the questions re: purchasing mobility aids’ post on r/disability earlier…

I just think the whole thing is problematic in a myriad of ways. The unnecessary reliance on mobility aids, the cost to the state in such benefits and equipment… I think it needs an exposé!

This is a reply. The original query was posted by someone who believes themself to be a transman/transmasc and also to have undiagnosed Dissociative Identity Disorder (multiple alters/be a ‘system’):

Body dysmorphia is a recognised mental health condition. And I have heard of that before, where people feel a part of their body doesn't belong and experience the urge to cut of their own limbs, etc. This guy sounds like he was mentally unwell to me. It must be horrible if you look down and your leg doesn't feel like yours.

He didn't look down and see a leg that didn't look like his, he looked down and got an erection at the thought of having his feet cut off, and found it such a turn on that he took steps to make it a reality.

Then swindled his insurance company.

Exactly.

We need distinctions between mental health conditions and fetishes!
