Figured it was my turn for once!

Plus this way I beat the rush to the bar.

Now I must return to the previous thread to relocate my Tunnock's secret stash.

Serve yourselves until the bar gerbils arrive.

If you've ever had an old granny that didn't smell of Lily of the valley or estee lauder youth dew but she did smell of pee then assuming no continence issues she was probably wearing chanel no. 5

Edited

Smelling of smoke, whether from fegs or chip pan, would be more like it.

I still can't get over her frying liver for the cat. Yon cat ate better than we did.

Mine steamed fish for her cats.

None for us kids though.

Granny used to get up in the middle of the night to have a fag out the bathroom window. You'd get up in the morning to a full ashtray on the side of the sink!

Cat fart.
Clears a room.in seconds.

I have a cat who seems to know that five minutes before a visitor turns up would be a good time to go empty her bowels in the litter tray giving the smell just enough time to make its way to the front door!

I am just developing my new personae i have a selection of perfumery in my Glans. Personally i like Coco channel.

Am musing about the endless opportunities when a TRA arrives on mumsnet as a skunk.

Just garnering opinion what noxious scents could i have in my armoury

Lynx. Any version will do, it will make the TRAs think they are surrounded by teenage boys.

Well at least she's well enough trained to poo in the litter tray and not, to take a random example, in your shoe.

There is that.

But she did throw up on my pillow the other night, which was nice when I rolled over at 3 in the morning.

I am really, really, really missing that laughing reaction.

Once I woke up in the small hours convinced I was having a heart attack, only to discover the cat was sleeping on my chest. To be fair, she was a pretty chunky cat.

I wouldn't have minded so much if she hadn't slobbered in my hair.

I love cats in the real world, but i can not bare the loss of another one, there was a thing somewhere about cats and women, i think it was radio 4.

As a skunk, cats do not know how to deal with me, i am too big to eat.

One of mine turned 17 the other week, he's at the point where he'll bang the cat flap to get me to open the door that's already wide open next to the cat flap, walks into rooms and forgets why he's there and so shouts for me until I go find him to calm him down and just looks a bit confused permanently.
He's got arthritis as well so constantly looks like he's done his hip in.

It will break me when he goes.

And the cat has just used the litter tray.

Ughhhh, best to sort that.

I don't want to get too sombre, but one of my favourite novels, and I still think it's prophetic, is Children of Men by PD James. The movie is good though it's a loose adaptation. The book goes into how society would function if the human species suddenly went infertile and there was no next generation.

PDJ puts in a whole subtheme about women's bond with their cats. It even ends up becoming incorporated into religion.

Magpiecomplex · 29/08/2025 21:13

Why am I getting Fisher Price adverts at the top of the page and Ann Summers adverts at the bottom of page? It sounds like someone's stereotypical idea of what women on Mumsnet should be interested in. 🤢

FuzzyPuffling · 29/08/2025 21:17

My cats are both 11 ( rescue litter mates) and i see them aging. Their black fur has more white hairs and girlcat climbs the stairs more carefully now.
But they have to go before me, because they wouldn't understand.

Aha! The final scene from Das fliegender Walross. Such a shame that opera of Wagner's has been lost!

Das fliegende Walross, sorry for being a pedant this lovely Friday evening.

You're ok, I'm currently getting adverts for breast enlargement which I'm really not in the market for.

At least it beats the time Facebook thought I really wanted to see adverts for cheap funerals.

I'm on record on MN as possessing JJs, I don't think any algorithm would be recommending breast enlargement to me!

I would guess this was one of the original sources for Das Kaninchen von Sevilla?

I'm not an opera fan at all but I would watch both Das fliegende Walross and Das Kaninchen von Sevilla.at least once.

Algorithms are weird. For several months - this is quite a few years ago - Amazon was convinced I was the world's biggest fan of Shaggy.

"We saw you bought The Constitution of Liberty by Friedrich von Hayek, so we thought you'd be interested in music by Shaggy"

Or maybe buying a Hayek book somehow got me onto Liz Truss's playlist. A mystery for the ages.

FuzzyPuffling · 29/08/2025 21:32

My adverts are ice cream and mens pants.
<Shrugs>
