In between the time of the complaint and the first article being published I had gotten Facial Feminisation Surgery done, which again everyone was super supportive of (and everyone also loved the results and being part of the journey)

My god, I hope this person isn't for real. If someone told me they were doing this I'd be appalled and struggle not to show it. The best I could do would be steer well clear of them so as not to show how I really felt. (Maybe that's what everyone except their two best friends really did).

To be honest, I don't like cosmetic surgery or procedures of any kind, and if a colleague announced a boob job, facelift or even botox I certainly wouldn't be "super supportive".

I have been thinking about this, and I wouldn't know how to fit a bra for a transwomen or man with gynecomastia.

Some of which I won't go in to bc lurkers but i.e. the bone structure of the rib cage is different between men and women, as are proportions. With developing tissue you need to be careful to avoid damage.

Its not discrimination, on sex or gender reassignment. Anyone can buy a bra. Even if it was for their own sexual gratification, fine as long as they don't involve me without my consent.

TRAs see us as so hateful. I would just want a quick word with the staff member, and explain why many women / girls would not want to be approached.

But there are vastly more forums so the actual percentage will be absolutely miniscule.

I suspect the tone running through his screed of "everyone is always giving me hugs and high fives" is how his imaginary best life works.

I can imagine a workplace where everyone makes a point of being polite and friendly to the trans employee, but what he's describing is a world-historic level of pandering.

I would like to know

1. If M&S (and other places for that matter, where there are mixed sex changing rooms/let men into women's changing rooms/toilets etc) have ever undertaken risk assessments.
2. If M&S (and other organisations) conduct regular checks for hidden surveillance devices in those spaces.

I'm guessing that the answer is no and no.

How does that hold up with regards to liability should something untoward happen in those spaces?

I bring up bras a lot compared to others as you might imagine (i.e. if someone has got back pain) but I don't discuss mine or anyone else's. I don't message that I'm off to a bra fitting.

Why on earth do men - of the trans identifying kind or otherwise - think this sort of thing is what women do? Do they unthinkingly believe the media stereotypes or is it some kind of creepy voyeuristic fantasy?

If the m&s screed is real it just demonstrates how weirdly even supportive places treat tw. He doesn't feel the slightest bit patronised? No actual female colleague would be treated like that.
