couldn’t see this elsewhere so apologies if it’s already been posted. Awful case. The decision to refer to the defendant as male feels interesting though - a step in from what we’ve seen

You might very well think that.

I wonder whether anyone from the "trans community" or any of its allies would ever be honest enough to give that answer.

I won't hold my breath.

They can't because then the whole house of cards would come tumbling down.

But the judge said that he would refer to him as 'Ms' throughout... in order "to respect his dignity". What nonsense!

Im not sure most people find a bloke accused of raping a child being called ‘Ms’ in any way ‘dignified’. I hope the judge’s statement at the start was to preclude the defendant/his lawyers whine about witnesses ‘misgendering’ and ‘deadnaming’ him.

Male
Trans identified
Police Office
(alleged)
Online Groomer
Rapist
Paedo

That’s a hell of list of intersecting characteristics - must’ve been incredibly difficult for the victims he targeted to come forward and provide evidence against that dynamic.

(as an aside it’s interesting how many of these trans predators go for a total name change, isn’t it? Most (non trans) people who change a name only change a bit of their original name… I would imagine nonpredatory trans people behave more like the non predatory majority when it comes to name changes? Maybe total name change is something that should be especially flagged for DBS purposes…)

shows how child protection and safe guarding is being flush away just so menz feelingz don’t get hurt.

where was the DBS check?

And it is the Met Police again!

Nothing about him on reddit - you can guarantee there would be pages of threads if this had been a story about trans hate. They always stay silent when a TIM is implicated in a crime. And will no doubt say he's not a "real" TW.

Like others I really want to know when he became "she". If it was after conviction, the TRA's will latch onto that.

They do occasionally mention a trans criminal over there albeit mostly to minimise their crimes or complain about newspaper bias - recently they have been bemoaning the reporting on the male who says he’s a woman who killed his detransitioner male spouse with a samurai sword.

I find it really odd, when I read about say, a female teacher who has sexually offended against a teenage pupil my instinct is to say ‘Another one? We really need to improve safeguarding in order to prevent offenders from gaining access to potential victims because the current system clearly isn’t working well, perhaps there is a blind spot re: female teachers in secondary schools that specifically needs to be looked at?’

I don’t think ‘Newspapers should stop reporting on these convictions because it makes all women look bad’

I wonder when they suddenly had the womanly feelz. Before or after getting caught 🤔

Yes this was my first thought as well.

Maybe start one? I’m tempted to get a Reddit account at this point

Not to take away from your excellent point about closing loopholes rather than defending your chosen demographic: when I hear about a female sex offender I usually assume they're actually male.

Most of the time that is, in fact, the case.
