couldn’t see this elsewhere so apologies if it’s already been posted. Awful case. The decision to refer to the defendant as male feels interesting though - a step in from what we’ve seen

I wonder if it is just a “being fair to everyone” sort of thing. A bit like when we stopped at the services when my kids were younger and one child was desperate for the loo and the other claimed he didn’t need it and I would say in a sing song voice. “And everyone is going for a wee wee now” as for some reason ds was much less resistant to being forced to go to the loo when he thought his sister was being forced too (even though the past 10 miles complaining that she needed the loo).

The three things I get from this story though is:-

  1. Yet another trans woman rapist
  2. Yet another Met officer rapist
  3. Did the Met allow this male rapist to strip search women?

Oh and he was a steward at Soul Survivor too.Hmm

PrettyDamnCosmic · 12/08/2025 07:27

I had to Google what a "Metropolitan Police volunteer officer" might be. It turns out it's what we used to call a special constable or hobby bobby.

Fluffygreyjumper · 12/08/2025 07:53

Nothing about him on reddit - you can guarantee there would be pages of threads if this had been a story about trans hate. They always stay silent when a TIM is implicated in a crime. And will no doubt say he's not a "real" TW.

Like others I really want to know when he became "she". If it was after conviction, the TRA's will latch onto that.

DrBlackbird · 12/08/2025 08:46

Volunteer police officer raped child, court told

vs

Tribunal hears that trans doctor sobbed when reporting nurse

The cynic in me thinks the ‘accurate’ reporting is more to do with the context and even perhaps to do with protecting the trans community (a la Sturgeon’s evasion on correctly sexing Isla Bryson) rather than with adopting sex realist reporting. They know that people often just look at the headline.

How surprising, I knew it would probably be that Christian Camp.

Screamingabdabz · 12/08/2025 08:53

Let’s face it. He’s not trans in any way shape or form is he? Why don’t they get psychological expertise in here before declaring him trans rather than allowing that to muddy the water of justice. He’s just a pathetic criminal rapist who is using every loop hole to get mitigation.

Beowulfa · 12/08/2025 08:53

Surely they need to check with Nicola Sturgeon before deciding which pronouns to use?

anyolddinosaur · 12/08/2025 09:02

This is a court case and therefore he must be assumed to be innocent until convicted. A jury trial so not sure they are going to be believe the "she told me she was 16" excuse.

For anyone who doesn't know there is discussion of Soul Survivor on 2 threads - first one https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/philosophy_religion_spirituality/4785221-have-you-or-your-kids-been-to-soul-survivor

teawamutu · 12/08/2025 09:13

The court artist was brutal.

They met on Omegle which I had to Google and learnt that it had closed down amid law suits and safeguarding concerns. I wondered about the testimony referring to shared trauma and thought he had either homed in on a gender questioning child or it was some kind of shared Christian insecurity. Vile whatever and I'm glad it will be getting prominent coverage.

Pluvia · 12/08/2025 09:26

Came here to post this. Massive relief to see a rapist being accurately identified as male and referred to using male pronouns. Another little step back into reality.

I think I'm aware of three other transgender police officers/ former police officers who have now been in court for sexual offences. Given the tiny number of transgender POs, surely this is a massively high proportion?

lcakethereforeIam · 12/08/2025 09:46

Seems so to me, but that's just my reckon. I suppose it stands to reason that predators who, it's been recognised, gravitate to positions of power that also give them access to victims. They seem also have been insulated from consequences because 'sacred caste'. Add trans-identity to the mix; doubly insulated!, the most sacred of sacred castes. There's also the stats about transwomen prisoners seeming to show they're more likely to be sexual offenders. This guy has got the lot.

RedToothBrush · 12/08/2025 09:53

Remember there were TRAs posting that 14 year olds were old enough to know better and should not be infantilised just days ago over the M&S debarcle. They got upset when it was pointed out how creepy this is and how Post Rotherham just wasn't remotely acceptable.

Just saying.

So who is trans, then?

What are the criteria?

I’d never heard of it, sounds like it was an app made for predators. I’d guess he went through the random connections until he hit on ones with a vulnerability and then exploited it - in this case the ‘gender questioning’ but perhaps also her Christian background.

Pluvia · 12/08/2025 10:15

Good question.

Beowulfa · 12/08/2025 10:18

It's quite the list of accusations against him.

Let's not put the trial at risk with too much speculation until the verdict is out.

Igmum · 12/08/2025 12:26

I am also relieved that, at last, the court is using the correct pronouns for this evil man. We have come a long way since the time a judge refused a rape victim compensation because she had ‘misgendered’ her rapist at trial.

The PCSOs are called hobby Bobbys locally.

Mr Milne told the court the defendant and the alleged victims would be referred to by their biological sex throughout the trial when discussing the allegations.

Interesting, the Mail have chosen to describe him as "they."

But the judge said that he would refer to him as 'Ms' throughout... in order "to respect his dignity". What nonsense!

How can you tell when somone is "genuinely trans"?

We keep asking that.

I've yet to see an answer.

It's simple: Anyone who says they are trans is trans, unless they have done something that would show the trans community in a negative light, then they're just liars.

You might very well think that.

I wonder whether anyone from the "trans community" or any of its allies would ever be honest enough to give that answer.

I won't hold my breath.
