Glasgow University refused service at the student union bar to women activists 'over their opinions and beliefs' and signs 'that make staff feel unsafe'

A group of women's rights activists were refused service and kicked out of a student union bar they had booked 'over their opinions and beliefs'.

Let Women Speak (LWS) had booked a private room at Glasgow University Union (GUU) where they planned to hold a social after their rally on Sunday.

LWS had gathered outside Glasgow University holding banners with slogans such as 'Terf Island' and 'we are all Sandie Peggie' - a reference to the NHS Fife nurse who was suspended after objecting to a transgender doctor using the women's changing rooms.

I have seen the videos of what happened and it wasn't this....

I've seen the videos too, and that Reddit poster is talking bollocks. Still, the urge to present things as you wish they were rather than how they are clearly dies hard...

There are numerous videos showing this, and I would not recommend watching as the posters on the walls are horrible and you will land on terf media, but they are so stupid they have put up one called "Women and Kellie-Jay Keen Told to Leave Glasgow University Union (GUU) 2025 08 09" which shows all the above. And the speech hate evidence (which the bar didnt have from CCTV) is now available to Glasgow Uni to stop the refund.

this is the sort of thing that radicalises ppl further. there was a study on jehovah's witnesses that found the experience of having ppl telling them to get lost on the doorstep every day embittered them to everyone outside the cult and formed tighter bonds between ppl inside it. getting their victim complex fed like this sustains them. they've blocked gra reform, got puberty blockers banned, got trans ppl removed from the equality act and toxified the entire government and press over to their way of thinking, so they really do need stuff like this to convince them they're still oppressed.

regardless, they're dirt and should be treated as dirt. well done glasgow uni for telling them where to go, the most important thing is that any staff who are trans or allies shouldn't be forced to serve bigots

one day tho, they really will have lost and really will be completely socially unacceptable. I hope all of us and all of them live to get a good long look at it

I am so embarrassed for them, but not so much I wouldn't pay good money for them to be made to rewatch this when they are actual adults in the actual real world.

Hmm, I wonder how few of them will look back cringing? I mean, Nicola Sturgeon doesn't seem to have been affected, for example.

I suspect that most will go into the "charities"/"activist" areas of work where they will just live in their own echo chamber.

The "charities" end will continue to put on shows and marches, the "activists" will just cause problems for those people that want to work or employ people.

What is scary is that a lot of these people will remain in University areas and continue to undermine free speech in a system that is already suffering.

So Glasgow students' union bar staff think standing up for women's rights is hateful and makes them feel unsafe? What twerps. I hope they end up in court over this.

There have been a few cases when venues try to exclude/throw out Terfs for their political views. It seldom ends well for them. Conspicuously Law Abiding Women don’t wheesht. I’m waiting for the apology and refund from GUU 🍿
