She’s just realised women aren’t hysterical fibbers.

Expedient with a book dropping.

IwantToRetire · 10/08/2025 19:18

In a new interview with the broadcaster, Ms Sturgeon said: "I didn't, I think, anticipate as much as I should or engage as much as I should on some of the concerns that might then be triggered.

"At the point I knew it was becoming, or felt, it was becoming as polarised, I should have - I say in the book I wonder if I should have - I am going to say it categorically: I should have said 'right, ok, let's pause, let's take a step back because I fervently believe that the rights of women and the interests of trans people are not irreconcilable at all.

"I should have taken a step back and said 'how do we achieve this?'.

ITV News at Ten presenter Julie Etchingham asks the former first minister: "So you're basically admitting that you should have just paused that legislation?"

Ms Sturgeon, clarifies, "paused, yes".

Nicola Sturgeon: 'I should have paused controversial gender reforms'

Does this make her ‘far right’ now?

she only wishes she paused so she could rethink strategy not because she believed the bill itself and its aims was flawed

Oh, she will DEFINITELY play her victim card!

Goodness knows.

We have been recently told
about how libellous it is to post ‘guilt by association’ . So I cannot comment 😁

"At the point I knew it was becoming, or felt, it was becoming as polarised,"

I hate the way she, like many other politicians, portray themselves as an honest broker above all the bickering. She lead the campaign to promote a toxic ideology that was unpopular with voters

Plasticwaste · 10/08/2025 21:03

Is she going to get into a broom cupboard to tell herself off?

RedToothBrush · 10/08/2025 21:06

She's got a book to flog so she has to try and appear that she's still relevant enough for anyone to buy her book.

She'll be in The Works bargain bin in by Christmas.

All those feckless husbands who want a cheap present for their over opinionated wives will be delighted.

Exactly this.
And how could its aims possibly not be flawed?
If you've got women who want toilets, changing rooms etc that are for women only, and you've got men who want access to those spaces, in what universe could those interests NOT be irreconcilable?!

I know we've been at this for years now but it still occasionally all hits me afresh that there are educated people in the highest offices in the land who don't see this, and I become absolutely dumbfounded by it all over again.

Countdown2023 · 10/08/2025 22:38

She doesn’t get to play the victim card. No amount of apologising will save the SNP on this front. She threw women under the bus and was absolutely vile in the way she did it.

Alucard55 · 10/08/2025 22:46

She's an absolute disgrace for what she did to women.

SidewaysOtter · 10/08/2025 23:40

Whatever. We’re still not buying your fucking book.

I'm wondering why anyone would need to buy it when she's already released the only mildly interesting parts to the press, its not as if she did anything praiseworthy or even good for Scotland except destroy the dream of independence and that was an accident due to her ineptitude

This is true of virtually every politicians book, some would not even be written without a newspaper deal

Chrysanthemum5 · 11/08/2025 09:46

In that news interview she goes on to say that is a man rapes a woman he shouldn't be allowed his gender identity of choice.

Oh Nic ya wee bampot, it's nae a choice is it hen?

I expect the TRAs will be unhappy

And yet she blocked the amendment that would have prevented convicted sec offenders from getting a GRC

CarefulN0w · 11/08/2025 10:29

Wow. So JKR was right.

Guess whose new book I will be buying?

PaterPower · 11/08/2025 10:39

Rates of homelessness, alcoholism, the state of the Scottish NHS and so many other things got worse under Sturgeon.

She has so much more to answer for than whether she should have ‘paused’ her drive to impose Self ID in Scotland. Does she address any of that in her book?

Floisme · 11/08/2025 10:53

If she agrees to go on a podcast with For Women Scotland then I'll watch. Otherwise no deal.

zanahoria · 11/08/2025 11:57

"I should have taken a step back and said 'how do we achieve this?'.

ITV News at Ten presenter Julie Etchingham asks the former first minister: "So you're basically admitting that you should have just paused that legislation?"

She is not saying the legislation was a mistake.

All she is doing is saying that it was rolled out badly.

It suggests she is still of the opinion that the critics are frightful bigots but she did a poor job of persuading them
