I'm very impressed that Maud has matched her oven gloves with her dress, hat and sandals!

Just don't ask where the other kitchen curtain got to.

Good point. She's clearly a very thrifty gerbil!
Reminds me of when the offsprings were in the last year of primary school (not at the same time, but the curriculum hadn't changed). They were learning about WW2 and "Make Do And Mend", except the teacher had clearly never seen it written down and always wrote it as "Make Do Amend". Doesn't make any sense, so I have no idea what she thought it meant!

Oh dear... shouldn't be teaching history if you don't know it.

On the subject of miniature figures - obsessed? moi?? 😏

When I was browsing for possibles for the Bluestocking, I came across these figures which are sold as toys rather than models, but I thought I'd see if they were any good, especially as one particular set had 50% off...
...probably because who is going to buy a set of toys for their children which depicts an angry father, a distressed mother and a frightened child?😱

However I have defused the scenario by re-framing it as Dad saying
'I still think it's not right that an injured defender lying on the goal line plays the scorer of a goal onside.. here's why..'
'Nooo! not the offside thing again Dad!'

They are much too big for the Bluestocking, but they are very charming little figures - not realistic, but very nicely made and painted. CuteSmile

It's about the fucking fish that escaped him four years ago!

Boiledbeetle · 17/08/2025 22:48

Dad refusing to do speak no evil in the family group charades I see.

Can you not fashion some figurines out of food ties, matchsticks, quality street wrappers and wine corks Marie? Other totally random household items?

AlexandraLeaving · 17/08/2025 22:53

Or can we all knit you some people?

Boiledbeetle · 17/08/2025 22:57

Alas it appears your original thoughts were correct.

(And at some point in going to have to admit how I'm doing this aren't I!)

I'll just say that in the 1980s cult comedy Better Off Dead, John Cusack's little brother is building a space shuttle out of household items.

It's extremely silly, and features an animated burger singing along to Van Halen, but is still ten times funnier than any recent film I've seen.

Oh! dad is Clark Kent!

That’s a surprise. I thought he was Dr McCoy, it looks quite like an original Star Trek science uniform but he’s got boring human ears.

lcakethereforeIam · 17/08/2025 23:24

He's off for his shift with ICE I suspect.

MarieDeGournay · 17/08/2025 23:30

That IS spooky, Boily, as the figures are on my kitchen table... so where are you?? <looks around nervously>😧If I'd known you were going to illegally invade my privacy, I'd have tidied the kitchen😨

Before he became Clark Kent, I thought you had portrayed Mum and Child finally having enough of the offside rule and trying to subdue Dad into silence!

MarieDeGournay · 17/08/2025 23:32

That's a fun idea - tiny tiny knitting needles - maybe cocktail sticks?😃

ifIwerenotanandroid · 17/08/2025 23:35

@DeanElderberry Will we have a performance of the Nutcracker? With half the gerbils as mice, and all of us gazing spellbound at the dance of the sugar plum beetle?
Not until the weather changes, obviously.

Rehearsals have started. Christmas will be upon us before we blah blah blah...

I'd love to make an animation of it, but I lack Boily's ability to input an image into the AI, & my antique laptop with PSE on it is buried under tons of yarn. (Layers, I need access to layers!) Therefore it's just a still image, which is SO last week.

Did no one read the small print (the stuff in font size 4) on the agreement I sent out when I was trying to redistribute the right wing funding money?

It clearly states in section 387.76 paragraph 24 that cctv would be installed by stealth in every room of your house recording 24/7.

Seriously people ALWAYS READ THE SMALL PRINT

SionnachRuadh · 17/08/2025 23:45

That might explain what happened to my Tunnocks stash.

I still haven't seen any of that right wing money though, which is a bit of a scud. I don't mind having a diet Irn Bru at this time of night but a nip of Bruichladdich would be nice.

You must have got a digit wrong in your bank details you sent over. It's easily done. Just resend them along with the 2nd, 4th and 5th numbers of your pass code and then the security pin that will be sent via text to your phone.

The money should then be with you by Wednesday.

Boiledbeetle · 17/08/2025 23:51

And I know nothing about your Tunnock's stash on the third shelf in the left hand wall unit behind the coco pops.

Bugger, it's not working, can you send me the 1st, 3rd and 6th number of your pass code.

Thanks.

So... I am currently doing these on my phone.

I screenshot your image, uploaded it to Grok and got Grok 'imagine' to make a 6 second video (currently free but don't know how long that will last). Then I play the video and just keep pressing the screenshot button all the way through it, then choose which of the many screenshots will work to show enough movement.

No laptop required, just a smartphone or tablet.
