Almost half of those arrested in connection with race-related disorder that broke out in Belfast last summer had previously been reported to police for domestic abuse.

In data revealed by investigative journalism website The Detail, out of 48 people arrested in relation to the disorder in August 2024, 23 had been reported to the PSNI over domestic abuse.

The 48% figure is higher than the average for the UK, which stands at 41%.

The UK average relating to those arrested over race-related disorder from the end of July through to August 5 2024, who had also been previously reported for domestic abuse, was revealed last month by The Guardian.

Violent men in men being violent shocker.

Coffeeishot · 07/08/2025 18:45

A thug is a thug is a thug !

This doesn't surprise me.

indoorplantqueen · 07/08/2025 18:48

Doesn’t surprise me at all. Scum men doing scummy things.

Coffeeishot · 07/08/2025 19:01

Those kind of men shout about."them harming our kiddies" then go home and slap their wives about because the dinner wasn't ready or she looked at him funny. Usually in front of their kids!

IwantToRetire · 07/08/2025 19:02

What was good (not really) was that women's groups in NI put out a lot of publicity at the time at the sheer hypocrasy of local men claiming they were protesting against the alleged sexual assault of a young girl, which if genuine would mean they would have been out on the streets everyday given the record of both DV and sexual assault.

So effectively these "riots" were about the right of white men to carry out acts of violence against women and not face society's criticism.

I felt the same about the recent demonstration in the SE organised by local women, who I am sure were genuinely concerned and felt able to demonstarte against men seen as outsiders, but I bet would never dream of ever holding such a demonstration against "their" men who are the main abusers of women and girlst in their area.

For many women it is too frightening to have to acknowledge that the men they need to be most afraid of are family members, partners and friends.

This is mirrored in Rotherham last year. 41% of those found guilty had previous for domestic violence.

All proof that it's bugger all to do with "protecting" women and children, and all to do with general hate and racism.

Coffeeishot · 07/08/2025 19:32

Yes it is all about the angry white man's rights and how dare they touch a white girl that's their right!

I didn't know that.

I suppose it wouldn't be wrong to assume this would be the same in other parts of the UK.

How is it that still after all these years of campaigning, supposed acknowledgement of violence against women recognised as being an issue, that no one will talk about this is public.

Much as I want sympathetic coverage in the media about how to support women, when are we going to have the public discussion about what are we going to do about men.

Did you say 41% is the national average? As in almost half of all men. Thats disgraceful.

SinnerBoy · 07/08/2025 20:24

Jeez! Sorry to be flip, but they seem to have the mindset:

Grr! No one rapes my immediate family except me!

MrsTerryPratchett · 07/08/2025 20:29

I’ve said it before, if we took DV seriously, we could solve a great deal of problems. Most terrorists have DV stuff as well. Imagine the good you could do if you dealt with this.

This is what jumped out at me too.

Is it really saying 41% of men on average across the UK have been reported for DV?

Wow.

minipie · 07/08/2025 20:36

Ah sorry re reading, I think it is saying that on average 41% of men arrested for race related disorder have been previously reported for DV.

Not 41% of all men.

Ok. So men who are violent against women are also likely to be violent against other races. Shocker.

Violent men in men being violent shocker.

This. ^ Colour me shocked!

'Men' like this who are violent and aggressive in the home, are often violent outside it/thuggish/shouty, and often racist, misogynistic, and homophobic, and will think nothing of doing shit like chucking crap out of the car window, harming animals, hitting/smacking children, and hitting their wife. These things often go hand in hand with this kind of 'man.' Probably think Andrew Tate is just 'misunderstood.' 🙄

Thanks for clarifying. I was thinking (hoping) that figure couldn’t be right!

LindorDoubleChoc · 07/08/2025 20:40

I would expect a very high proportion of men arrested for all types of violent crime have also been reported for domestic abuse. I'm sure that correlation is not just restricted to race rioters.

And Tommy Robinson is a good guy man of the people.!

RedNine · 07/08/2025 22:22

And again we see the coyness in naming male violence for what it is, instead it is couched in terms to deflect - talking about violent people, not violent men, do you see it?

Now which of the rules of misogyny is this, rule 10? The worst thing about male violence is that it makes men look bad.

UpDo · 07/08/2025 22:27

How incredibly surprising.

Agree. Over to the Labour government who said they would prioritise halving vawg. When do you expect to start with that?

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 07/08/2025 22:48

The sample size is too small for the differential to be significant.

Agree.

Is it any wonder that so many men are complicit in trying to erase the reality of sex, even with no particular trans sympathies.

When in their heart of hearts men know it is the male sex class that is the violent oppressor.

I’d be interested in knowing what % of people arrested were men. Are we looking at an even higher rate once any women arrested are taken out, or were all those arrested men?
