I stopped at a pub today on the way to our holiday destination . I'm not going to say where as it doesn't matter. But inside they had 2 toilets
One labelled men and the other 'inclusive' with signs for M and F.

I've always known the whole trans issue was inherently a greater issue for women but to see it so blatantly on the doors of toilets was sobering. Eg Men are provided with single sex spaces, but women. Tough.

Yes I know it's illegal and I could have said something. I chose not to though, as rightly or wrong l didn't want to cause a scene with my family present on a way to a holiday.

I am going to contact the pub instead.

I have just had a though all this toilet talk threads.
Toilets on a train no problem toilets on a plain no problem every other toilet is a problem.

Only one person at a time, in a single cubicle where the door is visible.

Plus train and plane toilets are frequently disgusting due to penis-havers aiming and other toilet based failures.

dementedpixie · 03/08/2025 18:13

Are you being deliberately obtuse with your question? Trains and planes have single occupancy toilets with the toilet and sink behind the door. I'm guessing you're male and hard of thinking!

Im a woman.

Not rocket science. Because they are single cubicle with sink enclosed opening out on to a public area. —blindingly obviously— very different from a closed door leading to a private space with sinks and cubicles off that.
as your second exceedingly ignorant point - lucky you that you’re not one of the ONE IN FOUR women who have been sexually assaulted by a man. Maybe try and have a slither of empathy for those who have.
and. It’s plane.

Single occupancy toilets are not the same as shared toilet spaces.
Pretending otherwise is dishonest.

Edited

I’m not entirely sure these people have the brain cells to work out why single occupancy toilets are totally different.

I think it's incredibly appropriate you objected to being called a male but made no objection to being descibed as "hard of thinking". Very wise of you.

The rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain.

@arethereanyleftatall It's "sliver" but slither does seem appropriate in this context.

I’m sorry to hear that. It’s strange though therefore that you are actively encouraging opportunities for men to do the same to other women.

That’s terrible and I’m sorry.

Your experience doesn’t mean you can speak for other vulnerable women. Someone at my work, when the twat upstairs made them ‘inclusive’ (unisex) found herself in a cubicle, man walked into the toilet. She knew he was male through the door, because she’s on high alert. Froze and couldn’t move until he left.

I campaigned and got them back to single sex. Why should she have to cope with that?

Top tip. Once you realised this thread was about a topic you have no interest in, you had the option to scroll past. It is not compulsory to comment.

We are going to discuss the discriminatory behaviour of some woman hating businesses regardless of your objection.

cofffeeee · 03/08/2025 18:00

Again its a toilet i just thought about other places.
God god we will soon see women walking about with buckets soon because of the fear of using a bloody toilet.

No the toilets just get closed down.
Ever wondered why we don’t have that many public toilets? Vandalism, sex, drugs, etc etc. The maintenance costs are huge.

lechiffre55 · 03/08/2025 18:22

@cofffeeee
If a guest was in your home using your bathroom would you walk in on them? Or on a train, or on a "plain"?

Waitwhat23 · 03/08/2025 18:22

ALERT your toilet at home/train/plane toilet is gender neutral post in the wild ALERT

It's always a bit astonishing to see it in 2025. Flashback to 2018!

You had a think and still couldn’t actually come up with something sensible.

Toilet on a plane/train is single occupancy, you have a floor to ceiling lockable door into a single room that one person uses and everything they need is in that one room. Add in that that door is directly off of a main thoroughfare in the vehicle so is observed by everyone else in the carriage/cabin making it difficult for anyone to do anything untoward without being seen.

Pub toilets/leisure centre changing rooms etc have a non locking door into a room with multiple sinks and multiple cubicles. The multiple cubicles more often than not have big gaps under and over the door, they are often down corridors or away from the main building use so easy to get 8n to and stay in unseen..

There are entire categories on porn sites for hidden camera footage of women being recorded using the toilets or getting changed in primark/M&S/leisure centres against their will by dirty pervert men who slip phones under the doors or hide small cameras above the mirrors.

There are studies that show that unisex changing rooms and toilet facilities have higher rates of sexual and physical assault of women and girls.

So take another stab at that thinking thing and see if you can understand why women may be a little miffed that their facilities are being given away to men, and why ‘everyone’s ok with unisex toilets in trains/planes/in houses’ is an example of stupidity.

Peregrina · 03/08/2025 18:23

The toilets at the local splash park and children's playground have recently been revamped: two unisex toilets and one with urinals. Why has the town council made more provision for men to relieve themselves than women and small children?

I am pretty sure it used to be male and female.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 03/08/2025 18:23

Safety, privacy, decency. It's not rocket science. Males and females both need to excrete but we do it in different ways and females have the added need to deal with menstruation and other bodily functions related to our far more complicated reproductive system. Most women want communal toilets to be single-sex. I'd hazard a guess that most men do too.

The public toilets at the bus station in the village next to the village I grew up in were known as a gay hookup point for men. No one would use them as an actual toilet.

Keeptoiletssafe · 03/08/2025 18:25

Train toilets are not great tbh. It’s because they are mixed sex and private. Children and women are assaulted in them. There’s been another serious one in the press this week.

I would fight to death if a man put hands on me again in that way.
I would stick up for anyone that i saw it happing to but i will not hide from fear and a man will not stop me from going to a toilet.

What some of us have gone through we build a wall around ourselfs and learn to protect ourselfs.

MoveOverToTheSea · 03/08/2025 18:27

I dint think that’s the same than the inclusive stuff.
Inclusive is talking about trans people.
What they’ve done here is different. They’re saying ANY man can go in the ‘women’s’ but no woman is allowed in the men’s.
